The weight can be controled by what you eat or dont eat. The thyroid is one of the first things that you should have your dr check as this can account for sudden unexplained weight gain. However as an old saying goes "once in the mouth, twice on the hips" what goes in doesn't come off without some hard work. Also it is much much easier (and enjoyable) to take it in then to take it off. I am with you. I would love to lose 50lbs. 70 would be better. There are a lot of good suggestions on this topic if you read the previous questions and answeres asked by other mylotters.

Hi, In order to lose weight, you must have a diet plan. First, you have to tell yourself to stop eating those junk food and fatty foods,no supper and reduce the portion of food that you consume everyday. You can always substitute those fatty food with fruits or healthy snacks. Also do some exercise at least 1 hour everyday like jogging,go gym, swimming. It is good if you can go to Gym which has a trainer to train you properly on your lose weight programme. I did know about this product called Leptin from USA and my friend has tried it and they lose weight about 3-4kilos after consuming for 1 month. I myself yet to try it out,but my friends looks really has changed alot and it is like a MAGIC.

Thank you for your response. You're right I must have a diet plan. Going to the gym is a very great idea. About Leptin, is it a diet pill? I don't want drinking pills. Anyway, thank you for your advice.

I understand you. I was think when I was in high school until i got to university. I think you just mentionned the cause that made you gain weight. Eating those once in a while is ok like once every week. But everything is better with moderation. If you want to loose weight, you'll have to control yourself. I lost a little weight just with discipline. On top of the advices given from other people, eat only when you are hungry. When you go eat in restaurants, it doesn't mean that you have to finish everything on your plate. I often ask myself: 'Am I still hungry?' 95% of the time i answer myself that question is no. But i still eat because it tastes good. It's the same at home. I keep on eating and eating because of teh taste but now I am controlling myself. Eat only when you are hungry and the extra bites that you take will go to your belly :)

You need to change your diet and need to work out. You CAN stop eating fatty foods. You just have to force yourself to eat healthy. Lots of lean meats (chicken), fruits and vegetables. Yes, you can eat fatty foods occasionally and in moderation. But diet is the main factor in weight loss, really. You need to stop eating what is making you gain weight. You also need to work out three to four times a week. Your best bet is to do a mixture of strength training and cardio. Cardio burns calories and some people only do cardio. That's a bit of a mistake. You need to strength train to get muscle- not bulky, but lean muscle is good. Muscle is what burns calories, even while you sleep. It also takes time to see results. You aren't going to work out and suddenly lose 5 lbs.

Just don't make those fatty foods too accessible for you. Stuff your fridge with fruits and vegetables. Switch to non-fat that makes a lot of difference. Watch also your sodium and sugar intake not just fat. Consult your nutritionist they could help you a lot in planning your meal. Losing weight is a long process so just don't lose focus but don't over do with exercise and dieting. Never skipped meal and dont exercise like crazy or you might injure yourself. As they said its a lifestyle change make everything sustainable so that when you lose the weight you can maintain it.

Sadsad75 - most of what has been suggested is very very good and worth looking into, especially the thyroid tests - I would strongly encourage that if nothing else. The vitamins are also very good, the hard part would be determining which vitamin or mineral. Might I suggest if you're not taking any supplements try starting with B's, C and the one most people forget D. They are all water soluable so no fear of adverse affects. One other very important issue is your craving for fatty foods. If you take those completely out of your diet cold turkey you'll end up bingeing - try to break it down to one fatty food a day (that which you know is fatty) example would be peanut butter or full fat ice cream etc.. - gradually wean yourself off (after you figure out if there is a thyroid issue). It's the same premise as quitting smoking - some can do cold turkey, most can't. You want to go slow and steady and see results that will remain with you. Please do the small meals, please always have breakfast. You can do this....If 50 lbs. is your goal, even with all the lay persons advice, seek the professionals. (not a big fan of Jenny Craig but have those who have used as an initial starting point and has worked.)

Have you ever heard of the lemon juice maple syrup diet? it flushes all the waste and toxins from your body, and in the process you lose up to 20 pounds in 10 days flat. The diet is pretty simple to put together. It only has a few ingredients, which is organic lemon juice from fresh organic lemons, organic Grade B maple syrup, organic cayenne pepper, and pure distilled water. It's a simple diet to throw together, but the only thing that stop many people from going more than 3 days is going without solid foods. You prepare it by taking about 5 lemons and juicing it up in the juicer. Then grab a 12 ounce cup of pure distilled water and drop 2 tablespoons of fresh made lemon juice into the cup. Then pour about 2 tablespoons of organic maple syrup into the mix with it. After that add just a pinch of organic cayenne pepper to give it that spice. (You can also buy some capsules if you don't like the taste of cayenne pepper.) The original juice diet is 10 days in length, and the pounds melt right off like butter in a hot frying pan. Whenever you feel hungry, you should drink a glass of this juice to help curb your appetite. If you usually eat at certain times a day, you should replace that with some fresh cleansing juice. I went on this juice diet one time, and lost an average of two pounds per day for three days, I couldn't go any longer. I felt so much lighter with a big boost of energy. My stress also reduced dramatically. I can think of one bad point about this juice diet. Many people have a hard time getting pass the first 3 days due to extreme hunger, and the desire for some kind of solid food. I even struggled to get through my first day. I literally thought I was starving. The truth is, after a while the hungry will gradually disappear once it flushes out all or most of the toxins in the body.

I am having a hard time losing weight too, O do the same thing as you and eat the wrong foods. It just seems like I am drawn to them somehow. I do exercise everyday, when I do take my dogs for a walk, but I only do it in the morning, as the afternoons are way to hot to walk. It is so hard to lose weight, but I think the first and foremost thing we need is lots of willpower. I have some willpower, but I wished I had more than I do. I just have to tell myself that I am not going to ear the wrong foods. There are just so many foods out there that look good, but not good fur us, and I will end up eating those and I know I probably shouldn't. Once you put the weight on, it is certainly hard to get it off, as it is much easier to put it on, than take it off. I do wish you luck with trying to lose weight though. Take care and have a very good day.
