I am so stoked cuz my baby is gonna be 9 this Wednesday. I am so proud of her. She ia a straight A student going to the 4th grade. She got almost all 100% on all her modules on the state test and tested into the gifted program. I always was scared that I would not be an adequate parent. But it all turned out for the best. She is so respectful and my rock. She even turned out to be a great big sister too. She is just the most precious thing. Talk about your baby.

My oldest is 7 years old, I can't believe it. She is growing up so fast, right before our eyes! She is starting second grade in 2 weeks!

Hi, TikaTalk. That is just wonderful about your oldest child! I wish her all of the success that life can give to her. My son is nine years old. He is my oldest child. His birthday is in December. I hope that your daughter will have a wonderful birthday on Wednesday. I know that I will, because my birthday is today. I am 32 years old.

Congratulations! You are so blessed to have such an intellectually and emotionally gifted child. I would not say you are "lucky" because having such kind of child did not just happen by luck. It was also a result of your love, care and support, I suppose.
Although genes have something to do with intelligence, I still believe that it will still mean nothing if left un-nurtured. Our child's natural gifts needs to be developed. And it is us parents who nurtures it by giving them the proper environment, materials, nutrition, love, care and support. You have done your part, and the pride of having a child like you have is your rewards. Doesn't it makes you so proud?
My youngest daughter is like that too (she's 15 now). I saw her gift when she was barely 1. I quit my job and focused my attention to support and care for her needs. I did researches and asked advices from child professionals on how I can manage to care for gifted children. Now she's a government scholar in my country's top science high school which trains our country's few selected intellectually gifted children to become future leaders who would be able to contribute to our country's development in terms of science and technology.
It makes me proud as a mom. Just like you, I was scared too. But I managed. It makes me proud to see her go up every stage to receive her citations and awards on every competition she wins. And for sure, I also know what you're feeling because I have felt the same way too.

My baby is 3 already. I am still trying to figure out how that happened. She is so amazing. She was born at 29 weeks but it didn't slow her down much. She is so smart and bright and cute and the love of my like. I am not sure what I would do with out her. She is 3 and she talks so well. Says please and thank you. She has such a bright personality and is so smart. She can already pick out her own clothes and even matches them. She can put on her shoes. And brighten my day with just a smile.
