At what level is enough education enough?

Should someone stop at a high school diploma? Should they stop at a bachelor's degree, or masters degree or PhD? At what point do think someone has had enough education that they can sit back and say "I am accomplished, smart and able to get a good job." All the things people want from an education these days.

Getting several degrees and having a great job because of it is great.
However I do believe in self education. I may not be in school, but I continue to educate myself. I read a lot of history books. I have taught myself how to use certain computer programs by reading books and tutorials online. I am always doing research on the internet when I am curious about something. Of course nothing compared to life experience.
I admit though that part of me would like to go back to school. So what is holding me back? Time and money. One of these days my mother in law will hit the lottery (she plays all the time), give us some of it and I can quit my job. Then I would go back to school. People tell me not to wait for that and just do it anyway. I am still comtemplating this.
In the meantime I will continue to learn new things and grow as a person.

Life is a continuous learning process.Normally, one has to finish college education and have a stable job in order to say that he has enough education. So I believe that even if one has already earned his bachelor's degree, masters, and PhD, it doesn't stop there. Those are just titles, but we still have many things we can learn if the time permits. Everyday we must try to learn something new. Once in a while, even if one has already reached the highest educational degree, one keeps on pursuing wisdom and knowledge and specialization at certain area...but I guess one can say he is accomplished when he starts to utilize and share the knowledge that he acquired with people that needs it

that is very true. I hadn't considered the learning and wisdom we get everyday when I posted this discussion. I think it's possible for someone to have a lot of education in schooling, but not much wisdom. That comes with living and experiences. good response!! happy mylotting!

This is a very interesting question... When I first started college, I just figured an associate would be enough. However, After finishing my bachelor's degree I realized even that isn't enough. It's weird, the higher I go, the more I want to continue. I would like to go all the way until I achieve a Ph.D, but maybe I'll be content with a master's. A master's in my field of interest grants me most of the privileges a Ph.D would grant someone else in a similar field. Hopefully I'll be done with my master's in two years, so I'll see how things work out from there.

I think university education is overated these days in many aspects by the people who want to pursue good jobs through it.
Many times a diploma won´t get you where you want. Some people get better jobs because they have the right connections, some others because they have other abilities.
Smartness is not something that university gives you. And other more important accomplishments, such as wisdom or happiness are something you have to seek elsewhere.
University will make more possible for you to work on a field you like and that is very important on the long run.
Take care!

For me I would consider the education is enough once I've reached the top and that is post doctorate. That's the only time I could have said that education is enough. With that kind of degree I could have a good paying job that everyone would really want to have.

I think that education is very helpful and depending on what you want to do as your career, you should go to college, me, I think I could go to college for writing but I don't really want to. It doesn't interest me at all to go, and it costs a lot of money too. I don't think I should try to make myself go to college or even do online college if I don't want to.

Our parents, ideally, wants us to finished our education from preparatory to college. THis is for our future, because when we have a degree, we can go anywhere. However we are either become an employee, than having a business of our own. Some of us have the thinking that being an employee will give stability, but that is not true. We have to learn how to have our own business and take a risk. Moreover, that is what some of the undergrads do, take take a risk. They either find a job as a crew, and then save money and when they reach the right age they try to study about business and try to start it. If you ask me, we still need a degree. People look at your different, however even if you are undergrad but you make it to the top whne you got old, that is the different thing. It really depends on the person what they want to have in their life. I believe that even if you did not finished college, you can still have your dreams, however in different ways.

I think that each person can decide which is level of education they wish to go up to. I read in a newspaper that A level results will soon be given out. They suggest that many students won't be able to go to university this year. Some might have to re-sit their A levels and apply again for next year. University students have to pay high fees and that is not affordable for people from low income families. Someone would have to pay even more to do a masters degree and a Phd would be even more expensive. My profession is primary school teaching. We need to have a BA or a B.Ed with qualified teacher status.

I never consider what is enough education.
In Shanghai,so many people have gotten bachelor's degree, but after graduating from university, they still find ideal job.
Therefore everybody want to get higher degree forever,or you will lose chance to win.
As my view, high education cant express social position absolutely and we cant learn valueable knowledge from our university, but if we want to find a good job,we will get high degree in Shanghai.
