It's sad but true...I do just a book by it's cover..well spine really. It's got to be birhgt, bold and girly to get my attention. Unless it's something I know that I want to read or someone has suggested it. I don't like thrillers or mysteries. Anything dark just not for me. I love fun, light, happy books. Right now I'm readig The Sweet Potato Queens: Book of Love. They have four or five books out. It's forsure one of those laugh out loud books. Its something a southern girl would love to read sitting on the front porch drinking a glass of sweet tea! :)

I also like the spines of books or covers of books that look girly, they attract my eye. There are a lot of times I don't necessarily like the synopsis though so I won't get it. I usually also look for authors I know I like. I got two books not too long ago almost solely based on the fact that I like the author. I can't wait to go back and look for more by her, and by other authors soon actually.

sometimes we all do judge other people for what we don't like about them. IT is just normal for human being to criticize but in rightful manner.

I guess i do too. As a general rule I am not looking for anything specific when I get to go to the bookstore. IT has to be interesting to catch my attention. Either the title or the jacket or both have to be something that grabs my eyes in one way or another.

Well no I don't do that because judging a book by it's cover it's never right theres so much to a person. Still were all different and you just happen to judge people like that it's your way of knowing them and such. My sister does the same thing that's how she gets to know somebody.

It's very normal that people judge a book by its cover. It is just like how we judge others by the first sight:) This is why a good designed cover book will be attractive for customers. It is one reason for me to decide to buy a book.

If we see a plain looking book cover, we tend to overlook it. Something flashy and eyecatching will get our appeal the quickest. If we are captured by the book cover, we are more likely to be interested in reading the book. The cover of the book really has nothing to do with the written word inside. it is just what our minds perceive that catches our appeal to a book.

Yes, it has an impact on me too, but not a very big one, I have to say. But a cool cover gets my attention in the store easier, when I am picking out something new to read. I do check what the book is about though, and if it doesn't seem that interesting, but the cover is nice, I still won't get it of course.

I also do that especially when I am in a book sale and I need to spend just an hour looking for the books but I mostly like the thriller. I like those kind of stories that have witty and novel schemes the most.

It makes sense that if the kind of books you usually like have interesting covers, then judging a book by its cover will work -- at least sometimes. I never even pick up a book unless I already know about it and have a pretty good idea I might want to read it. And most of the books I read don't have the kind of covers that would attract anyone's attention, right off. Now that I'm reading a lot of ebooks online, covers are less important than ever.

Just got in on the discussion - fun, light and happy - Have you read Janet Evonovich - very light, very funny and the covers are bright and perky...I always read her when I want something to make me giggle. Other than that, I have found authors ( many times with boring covers) that appeal to me and if I stick with them I usually do quite well - big fan of Baldacci, Patterson, Cromwell, Deavers & Flynn -
