is there anything I should be aware of today in the news or in world life that is different that I can remind him of when he is older? He is Owen Johnson born at 5:27p. 9 pounds even. I am not sure what they are going to give him for a middle name due to the other bio-half hasn't sounded off yet. So what is going on in the world that I can put down as that happened on this day? Any ideas?

First of all celticeagle, much congratulations and positive energy.
As others have said, you can hit up CNN. But another thing you can do is check with NASA and see what is going on there. In the last year I have done two or three things with them regarding space visits. They are always free. Such as have your name put into a capsule and sent to an orbit of some planet or star. They always give you a neat certificate you can print out once you are done. No, I am not recommending you putting down your name, but his. I could only find one to Mars for you marsparticipate.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/participate/sendyourname/
Also, as you are a computer savvy lady, compile a list of famous and/or important people born on said day. Then print it out on some nice acid-free paper. So it will preserve better. famousbirthdays.com is a great place to get started.
Finally, I do recommend designing a one of a kind beautiful family tree. Go back as far as you can. This is something my much missed Great Grand Granny (her preference) did for me before she passed when I was six. While she did not go to my other side of the family for the tree, that doesn't matter. She put down my side from her. Even to this day, every so often, I carefully pull it out. Trace the letters she wrote in her careful handwriting. It is something from her to me and that is why I cherish it.
I hope these ideas help!

Thank you so much, my dear. I really appreciate you taking the time to compile and send this information to me. I think I will do the family tree and check out the mars thing with NASA. Thanks again.

hi celtieagle I just read the Orange County register's headline page and found a wonderful thing, the researchers in the University of Irvine labs have found a substance in mice that can regenerate spinal nerves and may in another year or two be able to be used to help people regain the nerves to their legs and be able to actually walk again. This sounds really
promising, UCI research labs have come up with many new innovations over the last few years so I am hoping it willnot take too long to make this substance that will regenerate the spinal cord nerves. this would be so great for so many many people.

Oh Hatley, this is wonderful. There are so many people out there that need this so they can walk. This is a wonderful thing and I sure hope it works and makes it into the medical community to be used.
Thank you for sharing this.

Wow! That is great! Thanks. Too bad it wasn't found early enough to have helped Christopher Reeves.

When you are a great grandmother then there is nothing to worry about in this world because I'm sure that all your love once cares about you as much as you do.

It may not really be a perfect world, but our little corners of the world can be perfect for us.

I remember going through this when both of my kids were born and I was making out their baby books. I like the fact that the baby books are alot nore detailed from when I was kids but I wish they would make the questions a lot easier Hehehe....there is always things going on but most of the time it is more of the bad stuff that makes the news and those are the things that you remember when it comes to filling out these things. It takes awhile to remember the goos things that are going on and should be put into these books for children or grandchildren to remember. I think if you go to CNN or MSNBC they have quite a few things that are happening in the word today and you may even be able to find some good things other that war, fighting and killings on there. And congrats to you grandma Celtic

Congratulations! SO happy for you and your family that a new blessing has been bestowed on you all. I wrote down the Moon's phase and dawn and dusk times in all of my girls' books. I know it isn't news but it is something that has been done on the Scottish side of my family for as long as can be remembered. The phases and times have been noted in the family Bible with the births since it came to the family in 1813 with the Marriage of my several great grandparents. I am sure there is some Celtic superstitious connection (being as the whole clan is superstitious) but no one can remember why it is done but on doing research I believe it was because they felt they could tell the personality and I guess some of the future by the times and phases as well as time of birth also. Hope you have many special memories with your little joy!

Blessings? LOL He is a cute little guy. Moon's phase and so forth is good idea. Usually they just ask for the time and then astrologers can determine the rest from that. But that is a good idea. Thanks.
