I've always wondered what that phrase "asalamu'alaykum" meant.. especially here lately because the rapper Nicki Minaj says it quite often...

Asalamu'alaykum means 'Peace unto you' and the person who is greeted with this will respond with Wa'alaikumsalam which means 'Peace unto you too'. You may see different spellings because it is translated from Arabic to English Alphabet. When it is written in Arabic, it is the same all throughout.

I wish all people took the time to understand different cultures I am trying to read different religions and their beliefs to better understand.
I have even taken on the Koran and Talmud
Being a US citizen and raised protestant, after helping with different nationalities through the years I have learned respect and guidance through almost anyone I have met
Blessings back to you my friend too

Peace be unto you and all the World. It is sorely needed in this day and age. What with terrorism at every nook and corner, I sincerely pray that peace be all around the world. As you say, my friend, Understanding is the main thing . If people understand that every religion leads to the same goal, call in Allah, Ahuramazda, Ohm, Father etc. If all respected each others religion, the world would have no place for terrorism and the Lord would smile down on earth. May this Ramadan bring you lots of peace, love and understanding in your life. Amen.

Ramadan Kareem Sadik (Peace on to you my friend) I am here in Saudi Arabia so I am familiar with this word although I am not among of them. Most of my fellow associates in our company observe Ramadan so we need to adjust all work schedules. Workers who undergone fasting will render 6 hours work without break and to non muslims they will work up to 8 hours.

I'm so happy that we are entering the month that is full of blessings of Allah! I'm prepared for Taraweeh, and I have got just few minutes left for the prayer to start, and afterwards I am going to buy some stuff for the Sahri. Wish you happy Ramadan gj, and for all those who are non-Muslims, May Allah send blessings upon all of you too, Amen!
