Scatterbrain!

Does your mind ever wander and forget to come back? Do you ever enter a room and not remember why you went in there in the first place?
This happens to me all the time
The other day I had one foot in the shower before I realised I was still fully dressed!
I meant to post this discussion after it happened, but I forgot all about it!
I'm losing it! Send help! ![](/Content/images/emotes/rofl.gif)

All the time. I sometimes ask my girls ' Do you remember what am I looking for?' or 'Can anyone tell me what am I supposed to be doing now?'
I had quite a good mind before, but after having my children and starting a business, I completely lost it. I even have a fridge magnet saying 'Once upon a time, I used to have minds. Now I have small children'..![](/Content/images/emotes/lol.gif)

Ha! I'm always asking my partner, "What am I doing?!", because I've no idea!
I really want kids too, so it can only go downhill from here. Oh well! ![](/Content/images/emotes/surrender.gif)

forgetting can be a really scary thing. i actually forgot where i was while driving with my hubby (he was driving) and it took me a few minutes to clue in where i was.
i dont sleep well (i dont get the restorative sleep that i need). sadly its not that funny...
maybe you are just preoccupied? or just have too many things on the brain?

I suffer from chronic fatigue and that often causes what I call, "Brain Fog". That makes me really dopey.
I'm sorry to hear that you had such a scary experience. That's one of the reasons I haven't learned to drive yet. I'm not sure if it would just be dangerous as I get dizzy and forgetful really often.

I don't think I remember a time when I felt totally clear-headed. It seems like it's been so long. It's been about 5 years now.
I'll try anything to get better too, so I'll definitely post if anything works! I've been recommended a book that if it's any good I'll let you know on here.

All too often does this happen to me! Many say it happens to people who are getting older, but this was happening to me when I was around 16 years old! My dad would send me for something and I would often come back and ask him what he had sent me for! There were one or two arguments about me not concentrating!

Well I'm only 27 and I'm about as ditsy as they come at times! I'll have to do more Sudoku puzzles to keep my brain engaged!

I am one of the biggest scatter brains around. I forget almost everything, even the simple every day things. I will do the same as you and go to a room to get something and when I get there I forgot what it was I was going to get. Or I get distracted with something else and forget to go to that room at all and then I will go back to my chair or whatever and think, OH YEAH, I was getting a cup of coffee or whatever.
But more importantly I forget some important things too and that is what really bothers me. I have asked my doctor about this and she says it's one of the symptoms of menopause and I am in full blown menopause right now. Hopefully things will change and get better but quite possibly it won't.
I don't think your case is something to worry about though. It just sounds like you have been getting distracted.

A specialist yesterday said I should do more Sudoku, puzzles and reading to try and improve my concentration. I've also always heard Gingko Biloba supplements help concentration, but herbal supplements are often expensive and I find the results unreliable. Maybe it depends on the person.

This is similar to an incident which I always make reference to when I see a similar discussion. There was one time where I kept running back and forth from my bedroom to the garage looking for the car keys which was in my hand. No matter how many times I looked, I still couldn't see it.
I only found it when I stopped running around and actually looked what was on my hand.![](/Content/images/emotes/blush.gif)

Aww! Been there (apart from the actual car keys thing because I don't drive!)
I'm sure I spend a large percentage of my time wandering round the house wondering what I'm doing or where I've put something!

Perhaps I am bit too late to respond to this discussion thread. Anyways, I am a victim of this too. After I got some really sarcastic comments from my near and dear ones which typically include: "Oh! Are you too lost to have not listened to my answer to your question just a few minutes ago?" Then there have been comments like: "No way...I am not answering your question at this moment....what's the point anyways...you will ask it yet again after a few minutes." But trust me, I don't feel bad. I in fact analyzed on this a little and found the following:
This happens to two categories of people - One, who are super stressed with something very critical in nature. The second, for people who have a super idle brain. To my good fortune (well, I think it this way:-)), I belong to the first category. I get involved with too many things in life and that's what is gradually taking me to these symptoms.
But the alma matter is, I actually enjoy this...because to my heart I know, God has given me enough good things in life to remain involved with.

I'll ask a question and my partner will tell me I asked the same question five minutes ago. It's not deliberate though so I tell him not to make fun of me or be snappy because it's not my fault. Thanks.

I do the thing where I walk into a room and totally forgot why I went there. I go back to what I was doing and then it usually jogs my memory but sometimes not and it drives me crazy until I figure it out.
I also hate it when I lose something I had in my hand just a few minutes ago. I know I laid it down SOMEWHERE!
I have to retrace my steps (sometimes several times) to find what I did with it. Then I feel like a total scatterbrain.
Oh well... It's comforting to know I'm not the only one. ![](/Content/images/emotes/blink.gif)

That's exactly what happens to me! It's obviously not an age thing like they make it out to be!
Last night I remembered something I wanted to look up on the Internet. As I was walking to the computer I forgot again. Maybe in another two days I'll get lucky and remember for more than three seconds!

I think everybody does that once in a while. They say it's a sign you're getting old, but I've always been forgetful, with my mind jumping from one thing to another so fast that I lose track. I can't count how many times I've had to stop and look around and try to figure out what I was supposed to be doing next. Go from the computer to the kitchen, and my mind drifts off to something I was thinking about a minute ago, and by the time I get to the kitchen I'm wondering what I'm doing there. I think ADD (attention deficit disorder) makes it worse, and I do have that, but I try not to use that as an excuse. Not all the time, anyway.
What was the question?

*lol*
I definitely have a very short attention span, but I'll be thinking of something one moment and completely lose the plot the next. I'll even stop point blank, in the middle of a sentence, because I've forgotten what I was saying. As I said in the post above, I suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome and that exacerbates the problem no end, but like you, I've always been rather forgetful. I hope it's not a sign of getting old! I'm only 27!
