One thing I notice about Filipinos is that they are really fond of singing, and I mean they DO LOve SINGING. Most of us really have our own little talent when it comes to music. That's why I guess many Filipinos win international singing contest, and even finds their slot on Hollywood career, let's make Charice Pempengco as an example here..
I also notice that on almost every celebrated occasions, there will always be Videokes. It's like, celebrations aren't complete without that singing machine which contains thousands of songs to choose from.
I myself is a videoke lover, and confesses we own one. And in fact, whenever there is time, we sing to pass the time.
Now tell me, do you agree that Filipinos really love Videoke singing?

so,you've grown tired of it?
i wonder how many times do you sing in a day,or a week?
i do lots of singing cause most of the time,i am alone, with my niece, and we do sing along together sometimes. i sing along by those music playing from computer then she would sing also, but different songs or lyrics...hehe
that's how we sing along together,in a different twist...
actually,i feel i have lots of confidence in singing when i am alone and i know,my voice is much good when no one hears it. but if there was a time i have sung with someone,my voice felt shaky...which is terrible...

so I think you are a good singer.. you're just too shy to let others hear your voice.. When our dvd-videoke was new, I use it often.. But then, since I got busy with my kid's schooling, my attention was grabbed by other things that keeps me busy..
So your niece loves to sing also? You know what, I think you are more of a mother for Eanne.. Since you've been the one taking care of her..

Not only Filipinos but Japanese' also. They love to sing in Karaoke. In the Philippines, it's Videoke. That was funny. But seriously, pinoys sing there lungs out when they sing in videoke bars. But there is one infamous song that Filipinos will stab you if you don't sing it properly, "My Way" by Frank Sinatra. LMAO

yes! And I'm one of them. I enjoyed singing whenever there is a family occasion, we usually rent Videoke. I learn a lot of songs. Sometimes I guess numbers then play a song with familiar titles. It's so fun to hear other people sings their choice of song mostly from the genre. You can guess how old that person is! LOL! And we discover our potential singing talent. It's an easy way to express feelings.

Another Videoke addict sings out..Hehehe..Thanks for responding dhysanne! I also love singing so much and there doesn't have to be any occasion for me because I use videoke every time I want to..It's my hobby and I sing to pass the time.. Well as you say you'll have idea of the age of the person singing based on the genre he chooses, I guess I somewhat disagree, coz I sometimes like to sing old songs, and sometimes new, depending on my mood of what type of songs to sing..
Thanks for responding in this discussion,..Happy myLotting!!!!

Yeah, I too is fond of videoke singing. I think Pinoys likes to sing in videokes even if they can't really sing, lol. You can hear lots of Pinoys singing out of tune but still won't stop singing even if people cover their ears when they hear them. lol
One thing you should be careful when singing in videokes is to keep off the song: My Way.

Yes you got it right basqui. But don't you think Magic sing is very expensive? Good thing we can buy DVD players with built in Videoke already and a thousands of songs..It is much cheaper compared to Magic Sing and all you have to do is connect an amplifier and speakers, and VOILA!! Superb Videoke in the House!!! Enjoy myLotting! Thank you for actively participating in my discussion..

Hi mcdiamonon,
Thanks for responding.. It;s not important that you be a great singer, for as long as oyou sing from the heart..hehe.. And you're right that even people got their own problems in life, it is automatically forgotten during videoke moments. And that's great because at least people have time escaping their life's troubles for a time..
That's nice to know that your kids are good singers and I congratulate you for that..Practice them more often,,you'll never know if they're paths would go along with their talents..
By the way how old are your kids?

Just having fun is enough reason to ignore the imperfections right?? We Pinoys ;ove fum so much, even if we have our own troubles in reality.. And That's a positive outlook in life..Finding time to enjoy and forget all that burdens us..
Thanks!

Yes, you see it right. Many Filipinos are really fond of singing. Even along the road you see videoke players and most often there is always someone singing. Sometimes, it does create a problem most especially if the player is placed anywhere and sometimes it creates a disturbance. Well, I really do not mind such for as long as people respect other people. Each of us have our own way of enjoying. But sad to note, in our place there are those that play it very loud to the point that its already irritating and not music anymore but rather more of a noise pollution.

Hi jpso,
There really are times that loud Videokes create some trouble specially when used in a place with lots of houses around because of the disturbance it make to the neighborhood.
I know friends who so love Videoke while having some drinks. They're all very addicted to singing since their group consists of gays. Their session usually lasts past midnight, and they often experience some Barangay personnels knocking at their house and asking them to stop already because their neighbors were complaining bout the noise..
It's kinda funny to think of the incident, and that only proves that whole night may not be enough for them to be satisfied of singing..
Thanks for responding!

Yes, I agree that Filipinos really love videoke singing. Here in our place, this is a rural area, but almost every night, videoke are sounding every night, with tunes that vary from good singer type to typhoon type (that's when a drunk man started taking over the singing and feels like he's a singing superstar!). Anyway, this videoke singing is cultivating more talents for the future. Let's keep this up!

That's right gom, they find their own time to shine with Videoke. And these scenes more often than not, produces a very happy surrounding for celebrations. As for us family, celebrations aren't complete without that amazing Videoke.. Hehe..
And we can notice that even without any occasion, we see Videoke machines for rentals, every song paid for P5.00. And this just goes to show that Filipinos do it to pass times..and often does it for hobbies as well.
Thanks for your response Gom! By the way do you love singing too?

Yes, I agree, but let's face it, not all of us can sing. And love alone for singing doesn't warrant them to suddenly break into a vocal spectacle like those in Glee. I wouldn't mind if they have the voice to boot. Have you ever sat next to someone with huge headphones then suddenly out of nowhere, he sings a line and it is totally out of tune? I wish they could hear themselves.

hehehe.. I can relate with you new_guy..But I find it tolerable yet funny actually. I'm the type of person who doesn't mind imperfections that much..hehe..
Maybe they are just so carried away to the music and they forget that they're using headphones and that they're just the one hearing the music they're listening into.. Let's just say " they love singing, but the craft doesn't love them" but they do have the guts right??

I love videoke singing! Though im not a singer I sing with my heart whenever I have the chance to grab a microphone in a videoke bar. Filipinos indeed love this in any occassion. I think singing is not only part of the Filipino culture but it's also one of their talents and passion. So don't be shocked if any small stores, cafeterias, or even homes in the Philippines have videoke machines.
