Is prayer or meditation a part of your daily life?

I'm not sure what I believe. I used to pray for things, usually increasing my prayers as my difficulties grew, but lately I've been thinking that we, as humans, have got it all wrong. God, or the Universe doesn't grant prayer requests, rather if you quiet your mind through meditation and really pay attention you'll receive direction and inspiration, putting your wants and needs at one with the higher power that flows all around us. I'd like to hear others thoughts on this. Peace

Hi daaprice628, Yes, prayer is very much a part( the most important part)of my daily life. I cannot start my day without my daily prayer and scripture. This routine works for me, which may not be right for everyone. I respect everyone's right to their own style of worship. I will never venture to say to anyone that they are wrong. I will never force my opinion upon anyone. I just do what works for me. Not believing in the power of the almighty, after all that I have experienced and witnessed would be dishonoring my belief in God. I am not willing nor do I want to deny my connection with God. I think meditation is a form of communicating with God. He said, "be still and know that I am God." When one meditate and receives direction, in my opinion, has received them from God, not from their own power. When we pray for something that doesn't manifest, we usually get angry or disappointed and give up believing. God works on his own schedule, not our. Some prayers are answered right away and some prayers may take years to be fulfilled. And yes, some prayers may seem to never get answers. They get answered, just not the way we wanted. All things work for the good of those who love and trust that God knows when to say yes or no to our requests. Think of it this way, if a parent said yes to a seven year old son who wanted to take the family car out for a drive on the busy freeway, that parent would be irresponsible and can be held accountable for whatever happen to that child. Parents, like God, cannot(out of love) alway grant the wishes of their child. The little seven year old, didn't stop loving or believing in or relying on his parents, because he knew that he is loved. That the same way we should react when our father in heaven says, "no."

Hi, Through our prayers, meditations and keeping the faith that God will surely see us through(NOT our time, but his)any rough water that rises in our lives. Wisdom, is the beginning of understanding God's will for his children.

No. I would love to get into meditation though. I have read about it and it sounds great! It relieves stress? I heard that its great for doing that. I do not really pray..Ive prayed maybe just a handful of times in my life. Im not religious..More spiritual..Although I am fascinated by certain religions..Such as the jewish faith and the hindu faith.

I've learned that there's a big difference between being religious and being spiritual. Organized religion much of the time has very little to do with spiritually and more to do with doctrine and mindless obedience of certain HUMAN individuals interpretation of how we should live. Not that organized religion doesn't serve a purpose and sometimes a very worthy one. People naturally like to be involved in a group and to find one that accepts you unconditionally fills a huge need.

I pray a lot during the day. I very much agree that quieting your mind and meditation are important.

Yes, I practise yoga meditation every day. I would do meditation for an hour every evening after I get back home from work. That is very good for physical and mental health. I have been practising yoga meditation for over ten years now. It is very good way to cleanse the mind and gain peace of mind.

praying is part of my daily life. Before going to bed, I always pray together with my daughter. I also pray silently to God just to say thank you for the wonderful gifts He continually give us.

I agree with you. When we paray we just use words and words are not enough. We need to mediatate...we need to create images in our mind of what we want. We need to manifest our thoughts. Our mind has the power to attract things....no matter how difficult it its.

Absolutely. To think that if we come up with the right combination of words to convince a power beyond our comprehension that they should grant us our wish is foolish and egotistical. But to reach into the depths of our soul and expand our thinking, that's totally possible.
