Last week I made my 100th donation. I have donated for over 20 years, four times a year. I had a few years where I didnt donate because I was pregnant or overseas. I think its like paying taxes, something all responsible adults should be doing.

Thank you :) I always feel good, both physically and emotionally when I come out of the blood bank. Its a mini health check up, and I know I am doing something good for others. One nurse I have chatted to while being drained commented that the long term blood donors tend to have better health than average. We discussed is it the blood donating, or is it that long term donors tend to look after their health more. I tend to lean towards it being that the blood donations help, its not too many years ago that blood letting was high on a medical practioners list as a cure for just about everything.

I donate on a regular basis. I never have to worry if it's time because they phone me. They are very nice and feed you pretty good. Every day of the week is something different. If you have no transportation, they pay your cab ride there and home again. Now they are just a few blocks away from my home. How could I not with all that they offer for such a small favor.

In the late 70s when I was in my late teens I was able to donate a total of two gallons over a period of time. Due to permanent changes in my health I will never be able to donate again, but I hope that others will because I have already benefited from this gift myself.
I have volunteered help at blood donation clinics whenever I get the opportunity. It is so important now to have this service because of all the terrible things going on.
