I think as a mother, I should prioritize the safetyness of the condition of my baby before I should be conscious of my figure. After giving birth then that's the time I will make a workout or take slimming pills.

Yeah, I can't agree with you anymore. Every mother should pay more attention to their child, instead of their body, which is called mother love.
So, if they have realized of this point, then they will know it is really unnecessary to lose weight with taking slimming pills during pregnancy.

Hi bigtips,
I am not a woman, lol. But i don't understand why do these women want to have slimming pills during pregnancy?! Are they that inconsiderate to the dangers or are they too self conscious for themselves to think about the effects of it on her child. I have heard some women could even smoke while carrying the children in her womb. How can this happen??
I don't have much to share but i am only saying that people sometimes need to become at least a little selfless.

Why do these women want to have slimming pills during pregnancy? This is a simple question. They want to lose weight with slimming pills because they think that it is to late to lose weight after giving birth.
Perhaps they want to have a good looking after giving birth, perhaps they hate to keeping fat all the time, so, many of them choose to take the risk of hurting their children to lose weight.

During pregnancy, the mother would tend to put on weight and she should put on proper weight after 4 months or so, when the baby is getting fullly developed in the womb.At this point of time, it becomes necessary forthe mother to have some protein rich food that would enable the muscle growth of the child. SHe would also tend to feel increasingly hungry. She should choose the right food intake, take good care of herself and the baby inside.I do not think it is advisable to take slimming pills.Doctors warn the mother not to fall sick, be careful with water and their food because they cannot consume medicine. This being the case, it is terribly inadvisable to take such pills for the sake of this.
The fat problem arises when the mother takes the wrong type of fatty food and because she tends to indulge. She should have a proper balanced meal of protein, fibre, green vegetables and fruits. AFter the baby is born she can regain her figure by doing rigorous exercise.

I feel like this would be a huge no-no during pregnancy. There are ways that you are able to keep the amount of weight that you gain during a pregnancy under control and they are safe ways of doing it. For example, make sure that you are eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. In addition to that, if you make sure that you are also getting adequate exercise you won't gain more weight during a pregnancy than you intended to gain.

I had a neighbor who refused to gain weight when she was pregnant. I believe she dieted a lot and probably took those pills too. She looked very skinny and unhealthy the whole time and admitted to not waiting to "ruin her figure". Her son was born early and unhealthy and with some brain damage. He also had development issues growing up.
Some women can remain pretty skinny naturally while pregnant with just a big belly. Other women gain weight all over. I think as long as the child is getting enough nutrition then it's ok to still be skinny. But I wouldn't be taking any kind of pills that might harm the baby. Prenatal vitamins are good but I don't think diet pills would be safe. Who knows what weird chemicals are in them.

This is really shocking! @.@
Why would someone... especially moms to be, risk their baby's life to be slim?! they wouldn't be in the right mind!!
POINT #1: Moms shouldn't take any.. ANY medicine unless it is prescribed by their OB. Wrong intake of medicine can affect the child's development inside the womb. It can cause serious defect when the child come out.
POINT #2: If ever a mom is VERY weight conscious she should be very strict with her diet during pregnancy. no chocolates, no cold waters, no soda drinks, no cakes. just pure fruits and veggie diet. I know, for some this is very hard to implement due to cravings and you are always HUNGRY most of the time, but if mother wants to be thin then she should JUST DO IT!
POINT #3: Being fat after pregnancy or during pregnancy is normal. Some are very lucky that they still look sexy after this. but if mother is unfortunate for bulging she should take any slimming pills or exercise, diet 3 months AFTER giving birth. Why 3 months. 3 months because with this length a mom have already recovered from giving birth.
POINT #4: I don't really think any mom is stupid enough to think about being slim first, instead of nourishing her child. A mothers instinct is never wrong and she would always protect and care her child.

Thanks for your great ideas here.
Perhaps most mum won't want to be slim first, but it is also a fact that, sometimes, extra weight gain during pregnancy can be risky for both mother and their child, which is the main reason why they need to lose weight as quickly as possible.

Wow. Is this hypothetical or do you really know of people taking weight loss pills when they are pregnant? I've never heard of anyone taking weight loss pills while they were pregnant. I would assume that any doctor would tell a patient that its a very bad idea. I cannot imagine any doctor saying that taking weight loss pills while pregnant is ok. They could prove me wrong but in my head and in my heart I would still think it was wrong no matter what anyone tells me. It seems to me that it could cause a lot of different problems for the baby and possibly even the mother.

I didn't take anything but the doctor prescribed vitamins when I was pregnant. I also ate right and did a lot of exercising to the point when I was 8 months along, I met someone in this meeting..Then a couple weeks after I had my baby, I brought him to the same meeting and had people come up to me saying they didn't know I was pregnant..So if a woman is concerned about gaining weight, she should get into some kind of exercise program beforeshe gets pregnant and continue it, other than the weight lifting, (Lifting weights while pregnant is a no-no) and eat right, then she shouldn't worry about the weight gain.

Any medication that is not priscribed is harmful during pregnancy, and slimming pills are the worst, because every pregnancy is different, even if you have 10 kids, you cannot predict what the 11 pregnancy will be like, and my experience has been that with balance diet, you only tend to loose weight as the body use the fat for feotus development and hence, you can only add up weight after child birth and not during pregnancy.
The most common side effect is frequent bowel movements due to body detoxyfying itself, by which pregnant women might become dehydrated and this could harm the baby.

Pregnant woman should be more careful with what they intake because everything they'll intake will get to their child. That's why pregnant woman who get sick aren't advised to take medicine, that's the reason why doctors always reminds them to take a lot of rest and eat healthy foods to avoid sickness. So if a pregnant woman will take a slimming pill, there's a high probability of adverse effect (bad side effect) to the child she's carrying. We don't even know what it could do to the child, unlike other medicine we know the outcome, like for example paracetamol (analgesic) the usual adverse effects are lose of limb, deafness, etc. So its better to be safe that sorry later. I advised pregnant woman not to take the pill during pregnancy and during lactating time. Because the mother's milk is also one way of transferring the nutrients of the mom to the child, so when a mom drank medicine, this can be eliminated in the body system through he milk if they're lactating. They can take it after pregnancy and after they stopped lactating.

before taking any kinds of medicines please ask questions to your doctor if it's ok to your health and to the baby also.. don't take risk of taking it without any permission of the doctor please take note also your carrying one life and that is your baby. Consciousness of weight cannot pay the life of a child don't mind your own benefits only

When a woman gets pregnant, it's expected to gain weight. Taking slimming pills might cause a problem to the baby, a weak baby. If one doesn't want to be so big after pregnancy, there has to be some control on the food intake yet adequate. For proper consultation, have a dietitian to address this matter. The shape of the mother may be important, but the life inside is more important.
