Did I frame you?

Maggiepie has been after me for months to find a frame to hang a photo she got in the mail. So, I've been kind of casually watching Freecycle for offers of frames. And lo! right after she reminded me that she needed a frame, someone posted an offer for frames and glass. I put in for it and got this HUGE bag of frames and glass! After riding it around in my car a few days I remembered to take it into Maggie's and found the PERFECT frame for the picture, even a GREAT color, a kind of green that looks lovely with the photo. However, that was only one picture, and I have a ton of frames! So, I brought the bag home and started going through it. I had found a print of giraffes at Goodwill and, sure enough, a perfect frame for it - well, the frame in this case is purple, but that works for me! Then, today, the roomie asked if I could find a frame for a picture she'd been taking good care of for years, this kind of knight and lady with a cat. I found it, but the mat wouldn't work, so I went to take it out of the mat. She was more than a little annoyed to discover that this picture she'd been taking such good care of and paid good money for, was actually not just a nice print, but a page from a CALENDAR! And DAMAGED at THAT! Still, I put it in the frame and it is now ready to hang - as soon as we figure out a place to hang it... Also, on freecycle we went to a "free sale" and had gotten this lovely print - and this actually WAS an artist print, signed and numbered at that - I found a nice frame for it, and while I had to cut the mat down some on top and bottom, it fits nicely - I taped the artist's card to the back so we won't lose that either. Finally I found a frame for a hand colored print I had and put it in. So, now I have more pictures to hang, if I can find some wall space! So, have you ever discovered something was a cheat long after you couldn't get back at the person? Have you had a framing fest like I did? What did you do today? I also went to the library - after I felt better, I wasn't feeling too good this morning, woke up with a headache...

Hope you feel better now ElicBxn. It’s funny you mentioned a headache because I woke up with one too this morning and had to take a couple of extra tablets with my normal medication. You sure have frames now! They do come in handy though. I’m looking for a rectangular one for the beautiful picture my sister in law sent me of my new niece. It has the baby’s photo and next to it printed details of her name, date of birth, weight etc. It’s really lovely and I would love to put it on the wall; you probably have the perfect frame amongst your lot! Done nothing special today except grocery shopping and that was exciting (NOT!)

I am, mostly, my chest has been hurting for the last week since I dug the hole, but I kind of expected that I would be hurting - had hoped it'd let up sooner than it has... did a little light shopping before noon on Saturday, so I had gotten that out of the way early

hi ElicBxn that must have been disappointing for maggiepie. I havent seen any discussions from Maggie lately well anyway my day is just plain boring until my son shows up anyway,he has not come yet. but I have been mylotting trying to catch up as I have not made much yet the past few days.Thats awful that somebody sold a picture f rom a calendar for real money, what a fraud. I have a black and white picture of a house done in pencil that looks eerie and haunted too, and we found it in of all places the city dump. all my stuff is still in storage however.

it wasn't Maggie who had the picture that turned out to be a calendar page, it was the roomie... On the other hand, Maggie has been having some health issues that make sitting up for long times hard

Criminy elic...congratulations! You did really well with that lot...fancy it coming up for give away like that. I have several things that need framing. There were three posters I was given. They were a prize for some contest or other while I was working at a bookshop. My boss failed to run the contest and so gave me the prize of three limited edition prints of Australian native birds. The prints are a weird size so I'm finding it difficult to find frames for them...I have found one so far. I also have a small canvas that needs mounting and then framing...at least I guess that's how it works. Then there are my own works of art but I doubt they will ever find frames.

That is fantastic! Wish we had luck like that. We have tons of pictures and no frames. Even at $1 a frame at a dollar store (and who knows how long some of those would last), it would still end up costing us a fortune. Lately, I've been bringing someone to the Doctors about once a week. Learning how to work in a new age shop. Trying to keep my unemployed hubby from becoming a couch potato and a tv addict. It's either really, really humid and hot here or raining. So trying to get things does is difficult. We harvested apples from one tree and will need to from another soon. Blackberries are almost done, I picked some and made a large pie. De-fleaing cats, the fleas have been unbelievable this year! Delivering things for friends. Planning my kid brother's birthday. Trying to not have this slow poke loner computer drive me out of my mind.

My daughter bought a lot of frames at Goodwill. I had no idea why, but they were in the basement. Then she came home with several yards of material, all different colored geometric prints. She wrapped the material over the frames like canvas over a frame and stapled them to create her own works of art. They are all now hanging on her wall in her room and they look great!

I've seen that on HGTV, most fabric isn't my cuppa, but I can see the appeal for cheap, large scale art

it would be, but my style isn't "modern" tho I like the clean lines of "modern" (read 50's style) furniture...

It's very modern looking and you'd never guess there were exterior frames under the material. She's very creative. I'd not have thought to do that.

hI eLIC, SOUNDS LIKE U GOT A BAG OF GOODIES, GOOD FOR U. i LOVE BARGAIN & USE TO REALLY LIKE TO JUNK AS I CALLED IT. I miss doing that but since i don't have a store anymore & a housefull plus i don't feel like it i just stay away from anything like that. My first dil use to call my son & i Sanford & son we were so bad, lol. Unless the roomie paid alot for what she thought was a print i wouldn't worry about it being a calender picture. Of course if the seller lied about it i wouldn't like that. I hate to be lied to about ANYTHING.

I too woke up with a headache. Went to Sunday School and church, fed us lunch, did the dishes, and then we went to the library. We have some storm damage from Friday night in town, so I took some pictures, and some other stuff that I want to post on Gather. It has been a long time since I have gone on a framing frenzy. I have some nice ones that need prints and some nice prints that need frames and I probably have some somewhere here in a box. I used to save calendar pictures to frame, they are pretty, but not pretty enough to charge a price for. I one time made a multi print collage of antique roses from an AVON day planner type calendar. It was good cheap art for a long time.

I get migraines so when I woke with a headache, I wasn't sure if it would go away or get worse, and I didn't want to be away from the house if it got worse... some food, then some meds seem to have helped it, tho its still nagging in the back of my sinuses...

Sounds like you had a productive time. Today I am sitting outside while I wait for the bug bombs to work. Our neighbor in the front moved out and left a bunch of trash and roaches. We never had a problem until these neighbors. Now that they've gone maybe I can get rid of the roaches!. Saturday we finally broke down and got a new computer. Our old laptop had slowed to a crawl. This one is much better.

I felt oh so sleepy and even a little weak during Sunday School. A couple of members who are nurses found me in the bathroom throwing water on my face and tried to convince me to let them take me home. By then, I felt fine. Anyway, I wasn't going to let a little sleepiness ruin the big plans for the afternoon. The cold water was just what I needed. I wasn't sleepy at all during preaching. After I got home at noon, a friend picked me up, and we went downtown San Antonio for lunch at Luby's and a performance of he Music Man at the San Pedro theater. We got back just in time for the evening church service. I made it a point to show the nurses that I was fine.

Hiya Elic, Hope you are feeling better now Elic. Good for Maggie to know that her Photo has finally got framed. You must live very close to each other then for you to know her so well. No I´m afraid I am not that creative like that I do do other things but not like crafts and things but I have tried before. But hey good for you to like what you do and be really good at it too. Do you mean the cheat being fraud say a picture that is falsified? I don´t follow you there on that one. Had a good afternoon though it´s a kind of Day that would give most People a headache Stormy Weather but it does´nt break in the end it just goes back to being hot again.

Yes, I know Maggiepie very well, not only are we friends, but I'm her helper for Girling. I also helped set her up here on myLot. But yeah, I mean that while it never claimed to be anything other than a print, it is implied by being in an art show that it is NOT a page from a calendar! I mean, there are prints and then there are prints... I don't know why I woke up with a headache today, its clear and hot and even the humidity isn't too high, but I do just wake up feeling bad some mornings. I guess that's better than wake up feeling okay and then start to feel bad as the day progresses!

Yes unfortunately i have. I bought a "genuine" pair of sunglasses once for a great price. He told me that he had ordered them and they had charged him next to nothing because he was a frequent customer. So i bought these glasses for about half of the price. I was showing them off to a few friends when my friend showed me his pair of nearly the same glasses. When i inspected them i noticed a subtle difference. I knew then that they weren't the glasses they were supposed to be they were fakes. No one else noticed, however, so it wasn't that bad.
