In your house, do you have central air? Window unit? swamp cooler? What is your preference, why or why not? I have a swamp cooler but much prefer central air.

An evaporative cooler (also swamp cooler, desert cooler, and wet air cooler) is a device that cools air through the simple evaporation of water. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evaporative_cooler In other words, it is crap

i prefer to just use fans, but every now and then i have to throw on the A/C for mom.it just gets too humid for her to deal with. ugh swamp coolers..i hate those things.no matter how clean the pads, your house still smells like old tuna.

I have central air and I keep it on when I need it. I haven't ever been around a swamp cooler so I don't even know what it is...but I love my central air.

a swamp cooler is like a fan in the ceiling that runs on water. Not nearly as good as AC

We have an air conditioning system in our house, which makes the place pretty cool on hot days, but sometimes the vents get blocked and in that case I have a fan in my room that I can use to cool me off if I get really warm. It's probably not very useful, just blowing cold air on me, but if feels good and makes me feel not so hottt when my vent isn't blowing air into the room!

I cannot afford to run central air. If appropriate, I open windows. I also use a fan for cool down only.

It hasn't been too hot, except for the past couple of days. But then, "Some Like It Hot"! (movie joke)

Easily I just stay in all day dont go out side and put up the air condition when it really gets hot which it actually hasnt gotten that hot as of late. Theres been a few really hot days but for the most part its been a very good summer one of the best I can remember in a long time.

central air, after being in the florida heat and especially humidity all day a good blast of cold air throughout the house is whats needed.

I have central air. I'm so used to it that I don't think I could do without. I'm really not sure if it is good that we are getting so used to the air conditioner that we feel we have to have it. I do love being able to stay cool though.

We rent and live in a basement. We don't have central air down here, but she does upstairs and keeps the thermostat on 74....and we keep the upstairs door open so some of it comes down here. We did put in a window air in the kitchen that we've ended up running this past week or so with temps in the triple digits. We also have a swimming pool that is super nice to jump in and cool off. Hi.laglen. I have Central Air in my apartment right now. Central Air is very cool when it is so hot outside. I have never heard of a swamp cooler before. I wonder how cool this is. I prefer Central Air, it cools my entire apartment down when I need it the most.
