I have an older Lexmark x74 printer , probably 6 years old. It still works, i took it out of commission probably 2 years ago we got another printer.
The ink cartages for the old one are just too expensive. The printer still works , but is worthless to sell. So what should i do with it? Take it apart and salvage some parts off it , or keep it laying around for another few years for no reason.

I would suggest taking it apart and sell it for parts. Sometimes you can get a lot more for the parts than selling it as a whole. I know a guy who purchased second hand Sony Ericsson mobile for very less money and take it apart and sell the parts to the Authorised service center for more than double what he paid.
Let it be known that I don't really know the value of Lexmark printers.
I definitely will not buy a printer which will cost me a fortune in running cost - however cheap the printer may be.
Good Luck.

So do I. I have old printer canon BJC 265-SP. The printer is still work if I change the cartridge. I bought this printer 11 years ago. I don't know what will I do to this printer. If I utilize it and buy a new cartridge for it, the printout quality is not good. I have another better quality printer with cheaper cartridge. Maybe, I will recycle it by sending it to junk scavengers.
