Young people getting married?

Its seems like far back in the early days getting married young was normal, then it seemed like people were waiting to get married until they were further into their 20's. Now it seems like people are getting married in their early twenties again. I'm 23 and all of the people I've known from high school and many of my friends are all married (or planning their wedding right now) or have kids (or are currently pregnant) or both. I'm not in a position to get married or have kids so I am not trying to rush it. But I mean there are people who I am older than that are getting married before me. And not all of them got married because the girl was pregnant or anything. My boyfriend is in jail and he will be there for another 2 years. So if I do wait for him I won't be getting married until I am 25. Do you think people are getting married at younger and younger ages? Do you think at 20-23 years old these people are ready to get married?

we are free to get married if they think they are ready in entering into the married life as long as they happy they can commit into marriage regardless of their age.

What seems weird to me is that in the early days of our country, it was not uncommon for young girls to get married at a very young age, and they were mature enough to handle it. However, girls today are nowhere near mature enough to get married at a young age the way they used to. Is our society getting soft, or are our kids just becoming less competent???

I got married almost three years ago (it will be on the 28th of this month). I was 32 when I got married and my husband was 42 at the time. I think getting married at the age of 20 is too young. Marriage is a great and I do love my husband (after all he is my best friend), but it can be difficult at times. I think getting married at the age of 25 is a good age. It gives you a chance to find out who you are and what you want to do with your life. I wish you all the best.
