i knew some friends who find it hard to sleep on their first night at a new house or anywhere beside their bedroom at home.., it takes time for them to adjust.., but i find it odd.., because despite the exhaustion from traveling.., they can't bring themselves to sleep at all., so i was wondering if some people are the same.., since i can actually sleep easily.., anywhere i want to..,as long as i want to..=)

I used to be such problems. But nowadays, I am so deprived of sleep that I can literally fall asleep anywhere and anytime. Of course, when there are situations, ie driving on the road, whereby I will fight the Zzz monster.

Sometimes I have a hard time getting to sleep. I wish we could psychically trade our inability to sleep with those on the road who are sleepy.

I love to sleep..but no matter how exhausted my body is from working or from traveling, I still find it so hard to sleep when the bedroom or the place I'm sleeping is new to me. And I should add..i find it even hard to defecate when I'm not in our own comfort room :D

Hi, deve, I think I'm as lucky as you - it's not hard for me to sleep at other places. In fact, my own pillow is always harder and higher, but it's not a big problem, I always can fall asleep within half an hour. I think I'm so lucky. haha... Have a nice day!

I'm the same way if I'm not at home or in a bed I will have trouble sleeping the first night unless I"m sick and exhausted then I'll konk out where I can if I can. But it does have to be a bed or futon or a really comfy couch for me to sleep w/ enough legroom too! Not that I'm tall but I like to stretch out.

Hi, I am so lucky that I don't have difficulty in new places, I can sleep anywhere as long as the place is clean and comfortable. When I feel tired, I don't bother where is my bed,I just lie down and will fall asleep within the next few minutes. I do know some people can't sleep well when they sleep at new bed or new environment. Even some people need their own pillow ,in order to sleep soundly at night. I am glad that I am not in this category. For me, I just need a clean bed, with aircon, then I will be able to sleep soundly.

Same here, I also can sleep anywhere, with the condition of not being to cold or to hot. I can sleep with my head on a rock, just the ground must be straight, not to cause physical pain. I only can't sleep when I have physical pain, when it is psychological, then I can sleep, and usually I wake up with the whole feelings away, or if they still exist, they are at lower intensity.

hmm.. same here but now i remember when you mentioned pain.., that's the only exception of mine too.. i really can't sleep with a toothache.., i feel like i wanna die than endure the pain.., and i can't sleep because i will be weeping and whining the entire night...*_^

Yes, this is a great problem for me whenever I am in a strange room and a strange bed. I can lie awake all night, not matter how tired I am. The problem is that I am a light sleeper anyway, and if a hear a different noise to what I am used to, I will awaken immediately. It tends to spoil holidays for the first few days until I get used to it, and I am nearly always glad to get back to my own home and my own bed. _Derek

Yes, actually I don't sleep at all. If ever I am too tired, I'll probably be asleep but only for a few hours plus light sleeper. One sound could wake me up and not go back to sleep again. I really don't know the reason but I really like it. Because I had a job where my shift is at night. It keeps me awake even though I'm really sleepy. I can't fall asleep at work even though it is okay to sleep.

I just experienced that last night. I was awake till wee hours in the morning because I was sleeping in someone else's bed. I am the type of person who enjoys staying at home and at my own personal space. So sharing a bed with someone else or sleeping in some other place is really a very hard thing for me to do. I feel incomfortable. I often miss the smell of my bed, my pillows and all the things that surrounds me in my room. Given the choice, I try to avoid sleep overs as much as I could avoid them.

My bedroom has always been my most comfortable place to fall asleep. It really doesn't bother me to fall asleep somewhere else. I don't hsve any difficulty in doing this. When i wake up somewhere else such as the livingroom couch, I feel that I have to go to my bedroom because it's time i went to bed. I guess my body thinks that is the proper place to go to sleep.

The only time I've had a hard time sleeping was when I moved to a new place "and" knew I had a new job the next morning. Usually, I wake up too early like 3 or 4 in the morning.

I admit that I really find it hard to sleep anywhere else but in my own bedroom. And I can't sleep either if my husband's not beside me. I got used to it, i guess. Tough for me if ever I decide to go traveling alone.

I do have this problem! I don't mind though. I don't mind not sleeping especially if I'm in a new city or something. :) But I do have this problem when I travel even when I'm tired and want to sleep I can't sleep in the car or sometimes in the hotel room. I never thought of it as odd before you mentioned it but now that you did it IS kinda odd lol. I actually envy people like you who can fall asleep almost on command. But like I said I don't mind greeting the sun, it's what I have, at least I get more time to do stuff. Nice topic! +!

Yes I have difficulty sleeping in a place aside from my own bedroom, especially when we go on a vacation and stay in a relative's house. I can't easily sleep because it's a different place and a different environment and I find it hard to adjust especially that it's the bedroom of somebody else. It feels so uncomfortable thinking that maybe the owner of the bedroom doesn't like the idea of having someone else sleep in their room. But, during vacations wherein we are given the chance to stay in a hotel, I don't have any problems with that because I really love staying in hotels. :)

I am not used to living outside. All things unfamiliar.Sometimes I can not stand the smell of other rooms, whether good or bad news to good news.If you have to spend the night outside,I might sleep all night is not practical, small voice can wake me,the same as combat readiness of soldiers.Well,or at home.

Yeah, I can't adapt myself to a whole new surroundings at once, so, it is not so easy to sleep in a stange place. As you have said above, there are lots of people who have met such a situation before. As they have formed a habit of going to sleep in their own house, once the place have changed, then they will have difficulty in sleeping in a place aside from their bedroom, even if they are so tired. Besides, it is also a fact that we can sleep well in a familiar place.
