Okay seriously everyone texting while driving is really dangerous. I have never done it and after watching an Oprah Show last season, I pledged to never ever do it. Today I heard about a famous plastic surgeon that died because he had to send a tweet while driving around a curve. I really think it should be banned period. Here is my blog I wrote about it today, please tell me how you feel about this? http://complaintprincess.blogspot.com/2010/08/even-oprah-cannot-get-people-to-stop.html

It's very dangerous. I was walking thru the parking lot to get to work when a woman in a huge car almost hit me. She was of course texting and not looking up. When I noticed she wasn't slowing down and I was already halfway across the road, I ran out of the way. She swerved and threw her phone but really she shouldn't have been texting in the first place while driving. It irritated me. I know of many car accidents that were caused by texting. What is so important that you HAVE to text it right then and can't wait till you get out of the car?

That is exactly right, there is nothing and I mean nothing that can be that important. Everyone seems to think that every thing they do with a cell phone is so urgent. I also hate when people are in line at the grocery store, still carrying on a pointless conversation why the cashier rings them up and does not realize how rude they are being. I bet that lady in the parking lot did not even apologize to you for almost hitting you and went right back to her oh so important text.

There are lots of hard headed people around there who do not follow rules. Even if they ban texting while driving many people still do it. You can see a lot of drivers in the street that text while they drive. They know the consequences of their actions yet they still love to do it.

That is absolutely true, I have even seen cops doing this same thing and they should absolutely know how dangerous it is. When I watched Oprah's show last season it really opened my eyes to the problem. There was a statistic on that show that it is more dangerous than drinking and driving and I am adamantly opposed to that and always have been.

Texting should be completely banned while driving.. Not only sending Texting, reading the text messages or talking in a phone while driving is very dangerous and it should be banned.. I have never touched my mobile when i was driving..I would never attend a call if the phone rings when i'm in a high way, i would not risk.. The story about this surgeon is very sad, he should never had done that.. Life is valuable not the text mesages and the tweets..

You are right there has got to be a stop to it. So many people especially younger people think that nothing bad could ever happen to them. I love to tweet and talk to my friends as much as anyone else but I would rather do it from my house not in my car on a highway.

I was on my way to the grocery store this morning, and was stopped at a traffic light. I happened to glance over at the car beside me, and there was a girl, just texting away. Granted, we were at a light, but she was still texting when the light changed. She had this setup where the phone was on a frame of some sort that held it right up by the steering wheel, just below eye level, on the right side. So, that indicated to me that this was not an occasional thing, but something that goes on all the time. I would have loved to get her off the road.

personally i agree i know many people whom text and drive. and with me in the car it sometimes scares me. makes me wish they would do like computers and have voice to text recognition for safety so they can talk to the phone with out ever opening it or anything have it read the messages with text to speech and well crap just make phone calls with hands free i would feel safer. it would be more like they was talking to the person like if they was in passenger seat. i would feel much safer than. maybe more people will switch to hands free at the least

If I need to text someone and I happen to be driving, I will either wait until I get home or to my destination or wait until I stop at a red light. No need to put my life or the lives of others in danger in order to text someone.

Oh, i never thought about that before. I would have never tried such a thing myself. I text a lot, but certainly.. while driving?? I can never do such a thing. Talking to someone over phone in itself is so dangerous so what would it be like to text someone over the wheel.

Whatever kind of texting should be avoided while you are driving, because it is too dangerous. Your focus while driving will be parted when you do sending text message, tweeting, facebooking, or whatever it is that makes you have to look at the monitor of your cell phone. I think wait till you arrive the place to text is not a mistake at all. It's too wasted to waste your life on something not so important like that. If there is something really urgent that need to be told or to be said, why don't you stop your car or still, wait till the destination. I think it is better.

Hi aurorastorm..here in the UK it is illegal to use a mobile phone without a bluetooth headset or other hands free kit at all and you can get into serious trouble with the law if you get caught. How anyone can actually text whilst they are driving is beyond me anyway to be honest and you cannot possiblt concentrate on driving if you are trying to text..it takes me all my time to do it when I am concentrating soley on that task! A car is a lethal killing machine if it is in the wrong hands or used irresponsibly ..and texting is irresponsible.

Annoying part is that they never drive properly. Instead they loose focus and drive slowly sometimes.

Don't text and drive. The cellular phone has brought with it many conveiniences and luxuries. It has definately made comunication so much easier. However, when it comes to road safety, the cellular phone may be considered a hazard. Ever since the advent of text messages, society grown aware of the dangers of texting while driving. Despite the urgency of any text message drivers should put it off due to the risk of texting whils driving.

I agree! I mean, we see such people wasting our time by driving rather slower than usual because they are either texting or arguing over the phone! most of the time we also see them already not within their lane just because they are not paying much attention on the road but in their cellphones!

I totally agree! Whatever happened to "hang up and drive?" Texting is a whole lot more dangerous than calling, because, really, the driver's eyes would be on his phone, not on the road! I experienced riding on a taxi where the driver was texting! I got really angry because he should not be texting while driving because it posed a lot of risks, especially in the urban areas where commuting is really at the worst.

Wow, just read your blog post and OMG, I made a comment on their and basically I will post on here. What is so seriously a rush about sending a tweet. Seriously now my motto better to be a few minutes late than early to to he grave. This is horrible and apparently this plastic surgeon was not in hurry to work but in a hurry to tweet. I do not get it. What I do get is that life is too precious and tweeters, texters and emailers can just wait.
