Are dreams actually a window into alternate versions of us?

I'm beginning to think that dreams are not something that are minds make up. Rather, they are things that are really happening to us. Only not the "us" we use, but rather in some alternate universe somewhere. We are getting bits and pieces of what is happening. There may be other versions of this world out there, with other versions of us. Dreams are just giving hints of what is out there. Someday, someone is going to find a way to tap into that and fully access those realities and make billions. Its not going to happen into our lifetimes however.

Sometimes it can be quite terrifying to see what we might do in the dream world, especially when it seems to be an alternate version. Or what might happen. Thankfully it really has no bearings in the real world, other then any lessons that we might learn. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Very well said. Our mind tends to have a...for lack of a better term...mind of its own when we get into the dream world. Exactly what it taps into, well that can vary from person to person. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Dreams are so hard to talk about because they are so hard to disect. I've never thought of dreams as being an alternate version of us but it sounds like that could be really cool. Their is an alternate universe out there and we can see what's going on with our alternate versions of ourselves. You should make a TV show about that, I'll definitely watch. But I think that dreams are just there to tell us or warn us about something that may happen or like some other people already said, they can have to do with what we feel at the moment.

Yeah that is the great thing about dreams. You can really look at them from a variety of angles, and you wouldn't be right, but you wouldn't really be wrong either. I think a television show about that would be quite interesting as well. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I believe that dreams are definitely a window to ourselves. Dreams are a way of our subconscious getting a message to us. Sometimes the message is clear. At other times we struggle with the message. You could say that our subconscious opens this window while we sleep. We just never know what will cross over.

In my own opinion, dreams is not a mirror of us. Dreams is sometimes what you see or done all day. Sometimes, dreams is the result of our extreme thoughts of others. Dreams is also a thing that we really wanted to do badly but we did not do it. I can say most of the dreams are result of over thinking. I believe also that there are dreams that is going to happen in your life. It depends on what time. I heard that if you dream in the morning that dream will happen that day. I admit I experienced that kind of dream, which it came true. Second, dreams has a meaning. If you dream a poop that means you are getting money soon, either it's your salary or someone sending it to you. I experience this also. I think dreams are in our thought and sometimes represent an event that we are going to be true, but don't depend on it.

Megamatt Can i call you Matt cool. I think that dreams are a window to an alternate universe. When we sleep that is when our brain shows us that we are capable of so much more. In our dreams we can control what we do.
We can control what we do or say and we can manipulate what we do in our dreams. Which in aspect is pretty cool if you think about it. THINK ABOUT IT

That is an interesting perspective. You make some good points. There is really no limitations in the dream world if you think about it. There are things that are done in dreams, that we most certainly could not do in the real world. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I rarely remember my dreams. My husband has very vivid, Dreams as to what is going on.
I also have a schizophrenic friend who remembers everything in color and detail.
I think all are brains work in different ways.I have heard that it is the seventh sense though.

Yes, indeed, there are different levels of recall, with different people. So really it depends. There are times where I am sure I have dreamt something but I do not remember it. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I think my dreams are about my own feelings and fears. I often dream about someone I loved a long time ago (and still do to some extent). Almost everytime in my dream I either cannot find him or I am trying to hide from him. A few times I do actually get to see him and talk to him and I am so nervous. I know I have not gotten over him.

To an extent yes. However, dreams do have a potential far beyond what we think I believe in many ways. Of course, perhaps they are never mean to be understood. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Hello, megamatt!I read your theory and i have to say i can't say that you're right..and I can't say that you're not, either :) We know so little about how our minds work that we can only speculate what happens when our constient self doesn't act like a tap anymore and just lets our mind run free. I believe that our minds can actually be in contact with the past, present and future in the same time while we sleep and that our dreams might actually be glimpses of the future shown to us through the means of what we know or what we have already lived, our knowledge and our past.
I'm saying this because i had a lot of dreams that acted like real prophecies to me, but i just could't descifre them at the time. I only puzzled them together afterwards. I have to say your theory is much more exciting than mine, but for me, it's much scarier. Because if what you say is right, we might actually be able to see the consecuences of the desicions we never took or took differently in this existance. And for me, that is a scary thing! I live my life knowing there is no turning back, taking my decisions as well as i can...but i know very well they might not always be the right ones. And seeing a glimpse of what might have been or of what i lost...I just don't want to think about it :)
You know what they say, you can't miss what you've never had, but once you've had it...:)
Thanks for a very interesting discussion and happy posting!

Dreams are made of things that you are scared from, that you desire about and also that your mind makes up. I don't think that they are something happening in some other world but they are however related to the things that are happening in this world. Whatever we dream about has either happened to us or is going to happen in some way or the other. But it is difficult to determine when and where it took place or is going to take place.

Dreams can be tricky. It might be telling us something, but we might be thinking its telling us something, that we might not be able to intepret. Perhaps it is not something to do with this verision of us. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I've always thought that dreams are their own reality. After all, when you are dreaming, in your mind it's just as real as anything that happens when you're awake. While the events of your life may affect the events you experience in a dream, it can work the other way around as well. If you have a very powerful and vivid dream, can't that determine how you react to something or compel your decision making process in the waking world?
