High praise indeed but I am far from perfect.
I see that I missed a question mark on the second to last sentence - Could you give me some advice? - as you were asking a question.

Thank you very much. You are the fisrt man that points out the mistakes in my description. From your words I can know that you are a scrupulous man, which I must learn from you. One great man of my coutry once said, we can learn from every one around us, and you are a very good teacher I meet here.

I listen to the VOA special English every morning(maybe a little ridiculous),for me,a English major, should listen to the standard English, but my radio can not receive the signal of standard broadcast,so pity! However,I feel no matter what you listen to will be helpful to the English.Good luck.

I was a student of Chinese medicine profession and have graduated from school this summer. Like what others said, the best and most efficient way to improve our english is just keep using this language as possible as you can. One of my friend recommended me a listening material--listen to this--which suit for us, you can download it from the internet.

Language is a part of culture. It is a part of our identity. Who we are. An old college professor of mine once told me that if you want to learn a language, any language, you have to make it a part of your personality. Joining MyLot is a step in the right direction. Here you will get a chance to discuss issues with people from all over the world in english. It will give you a good chance to read and write. As far as listening, perhaps you can find an English language television show weekly or daily and try to get into it. The best i think is to find English speakers to talk to so you can hear the language first hand. Remember, when you learn English, you will be positively changing your identity. You will add another language to your personal repetoire. If you only knew one language before, you will then become bilingual.

Congratulations, you are getting a good start now. Keep writing 2~3 discussions about your thoughts or your life everyday. You should always look up dictionary to guarantee you use the right context. Either, you could write diary everyday to improve your writing!
As for listening, I suggest you find a good website containing lots of listening materials, then keep listening everyday for at least 1 hour. You should also look up the dictionary to make sure you completely understand what are you listening.
Most important thing is Keeping your affection and passion.
Good Luck.

Well posting quality discussions and having chat with other countries people would really help you a lot in improving your english.
I'm too from a country where English is not the first language. But as i've studied it in school, so it really helped me in improving my written english.
But still, i lack something in english, that my spoken English.
In our country, we mostly communicate in our native language. So, my spoken English is bad. I would myself rate my spoken english 3 or 4 out of 10.
So, for written english, read novels, books and discussions in english and try to answer them in english. Also English movies and songs would help you lot (like in my case ).
So start reading english books, listening to english speeches and music and posting quality discussion on mylot.

English plays an important role in modern society. English is an international language. Wherever you go, you hear English spoken by many people. Learning English is learning how to learn to swim or play ball. Main problem is that we have approached the study of language from the wrong end. The way to learn English is almost the same way you learned your native language. You must listen and repeat and repeat until you can easily change the language. In other words you must rely on the use of English.

First of all you must start to communicate with others in English.Ya i know you will do mistakes while speaking just do don't care about it.Who Don't do mistakes?? If You start speaking with others in English then it will automatically reflect in your listening, reading and writing skills. That's all you have to do "Just Don't hesitate to speak in English with others especially your friends and teacher.Don't worry about mistakes.Try to rectify those mistakes next time, then you will be a successful learner".
Please really Don't Hestiate to talk English with others.

You can study all you want, and that will help. But the only way you can really learn a language is to use it. If you and your friends would spend some time speaking in English, you'd all learn it a lot faster. If you can find someone who is either a native speaker of English or very expert in it, that would be even better. Someone who really knows English could correct you when you're wrong, and explain the right way.

Here are some advices I could give you. Stay at mylot. I think answering discussions and starting discussions could help improve your writing in English. As for reading, read books for children, or books that interests you, it doesn't have to be think. Read it aloud, not just by your eyes. Keep an English dictionary by your side, in case you did not understand one word, you could look at it in the dictionary. As for speaking, I suggest that you talk to English speaking people. Encourage your classmates and talk to them in English too. Encourage your parents too, you not only helped yourself but your parents too. Goodluck in studying English. It's nice to know your interested with it. I'm studying Japanese now. This would be the third language that I know. It's nice knowing different languages.

Find someone you could speak English with on a daily basis. If not, you could learn a lot from the internet. I also recommend watching movies in English without a subtitle. In our country, majority of the people speak English, even if most of has haven't finished school. However, we are a country who loves anything foreign (American, especially). So a lot of people watch American movies and TV shows. And I guess it helps them learn the language more because unlike other Asian countries, American movies are shown here without subtitles. Of course, you have to read English books. I think you can move on to reading novels and the like because based on your post, your grammar is okay.

hello there. Keep on writing here on mylot and you're writing skills will improve. As for the speaking skills, keep on watching english programs or movies and observe how the english words are spoken by the english speakers. Then from time to time, practice speaking in english at home. It would really help you a lot.
