Gambling and Betting

Hi guys, My older sister has used the website ibet888.net for 2 months. She simply thought that she could earn a lot of money there but it turned out not. She lost about $2300 for betting. She also joined in gambling and lost a lot. I tried to dissuade her from not doing those any more. I told her the gambling and betting stories with the bad endings but she ignored what I said. Losing money made she crazy. She explained that she just wanted to get back what she lost. What I should do with her?

I guess it's a little too late since she has already started on it. If she keeps losing, the mentality of wanting to win back will be even stronger, because she believes her luck will change and those are her hard earned money. But if she do really win for that once, all the more she won't want to stop as she's WINNING, not losing like the majority. The best way is to send her for counsels, to get treatment regarding her gambling addiction.

Yep I have to agree with you Sanitary, she will definately need councelling. Once she starts to convince her self that she can win back what she lost, it is adown hill battle from there. My friend got caught like that once. She won big and thought she could repeat that. never happened. she ended up losing much more than she won in the first place. She should just cut her losses and seek some help, obviously that is an addiction starting there. I do wish her all the best.

I suggest you should accompany her to do some things that she has interest in except gambling, maybe go jogging with her, keep her busy so that she will forget about gambling and as time goes by, she will forget about the money she lost, and won't keep trying to get back what she lost.

Gambling is never good. It plays on peoples' psychological mind. When you win money, you'll want to bet more and this becomes a vicious cycle which will go on forever and ever.

Your sister has a Compulsive gambling problem. She has a uncontrollable urge to gamble. You should take her to Psychiatric medication. It has recently been proven that antidepressant medications can be very effective in treatment of gambling addicts.

Gambling is really bad, the only ones who actually make money are the websites and casinos who promote gambling online or at a casino. I've heard horror stories of how people blew thousands on gambling. There is no way she'll be able to get back what she lost, people always think they'll get more when they start winning and then they lose it all. I will never ever gamble. it's just too sad to see what happens to people.

Wow! She lost $2300? that's a huge amount of money to lose. If your advice didn't work, tell her that you love her and that you are terribly hurt by what she's doing and that she cannot expect you to condone or support her betting activities. Remind her what you said to her about gambling and that if she persists she can expect no help from you if something goes wrong which you're sure of (but i think, you're not that heartless). I think that may jolt her to her senses, but most importantly pray for her to mend her ways.

That is very sad. I hope she has learned to not do it anymore and that she doesn't try gambling more to win back what she has lost. I don't know what you can tell her except that it has happened to other people, so she isn't the only one that has lost money by betting and gambling. Maybe tell her she has learned a good lesson and to be glad she didn't lose more.

Gambling at casinos is bad, gambling online is worse! I've lost my fair share from gambling at casinos and I've won a bit as well. The worst thought a gambler can ever have is to think that they can win back their losses. This will only fuel the desire to keep on gambling indiscriminately. Losses are losses!!! Imagine that amount of stuff you can buy with the amount she lost! I would probably go on an exciting vacation and have myself a REAL good time!
