Do you honestly believe that God will pardon your sins when you ask for it at the last minute of your life here on earth? My friends and I were talking one day about a news they heard from the TV, a guy was pushed into the water by somebody while he was fishing and the poor guy got drowned. One friend commented that what if the guy who died believed that it's ok to sin now and just ask for forgiveness later at his death bed since he thinks his sins will still be forgiven that way - then that means the guy was not forgiven at all because he was not able to ask for forgiveness, therefore we already know where his soul is going next. What do you think about this matter?

It depends of the condition and the way you ask for pardon. If you really believe in God and you really regret all the sins you realized during your life, God is able to forgive you for all you did looking into your heart where He sees if you really want him to forgive you. So did Jesus when He was at the cross with two sinners. One asked him to forgive him and Jesus gave him his absolution in the last minute (Luke 23:39-43)

I like your response camomile07. That's true, Jesus gave the the repentant sinner absolution right there at the cross.

actually no one knows how God really works but one thing is certain, HE FORGIVES IF YOU REALLY MEAN IT! He knows everything..even the smallest seed in your heart..but i am not saying that you will gonna ask for forgiveness at the last minute..ask as soon as possible because there would be enough time for you to experience the greatness of life after surrendering your life to God..:))

Well said. I agree that when we ask for forgiveness, we get reconciled and then we are at peace. Many people do not experience the greatness of life with God because sin is getting in the way.

I very much doubt that God would be so harsh as to condemn this man to eternal darkness. It takes some time to die from drowning and it takes just an instant to ask for forgiveness. Who is to say that during that time, the man did not do this? By all means, pray for his soul but it is your soul and your own relationship with God that matters to you and is the only thing you can really know about.

You may be right. Perhaps he was able to ask for forgiveness, who knows?

The thief on the cross asked for forgiveness when he was dying and got it. And the buy who was murdered by being pushed into the sea, it takes a while to drown so he would have enough time to ask for forgiveness and be saved. But that asking for forgiveness would have been given by God. God would have put it in the heart of the dying man so that naturally the man would have asked for forgiveness and in his earlier life, he would have had twinges of guilt when he did those horrible sinful things. The man who said it is all right to sin and did not think later on "maybe I should not have gone to that wild party and drunk all that booze," or whatever, his heart was not right so God would have known he intended to save his life and had he not been in that situation, he would have gone on doing what he loved to do anyway. So God looks at the heart and knows whether the person is truly sorry even if the person does not have a chance to ask.

I believe that God will always forgive us of our sins. it doesn't matter when we sinned. God will take them away from us as long as we confess our sins to him and ask for his forgiveness.

Man can be saved only if he repented of his sins, and has asked Jesus to be his Savior. If the man who drowned was fully aware that he needs to be forgiven of his sins and has asked God to forgive him and repented of his sins, then there's a chance he was forgiven. But to intentionally commit sin even if you know you shouldn't, and then ask for forgiveness at the last moment? Depends, he's lucky if he was ever given the chance.

God is forgiving, if you happen to repent at the time you are almost dying and you meant it, i believe he will accept that. he would be able to tell that anyway... he knows for sure if you are bluffing or if you aree sincere with your asking for forgiving.

I will present an analogy here in support of my answer. Let us assume that God is akin to a car manufacturer. If he finds that car he has manufactured is giving recurring trouble, what will he do. He would try to correct the fault and see to it that the next model he is building does not have the same fault. We have a tendency to commit sin because of an inbuilt fault in us. God would do the same what the car manufacturer does or we will see repair from mechanic the (Satan).

JESUS CHRIST gave his life for our salvation. So he will forgive us at any time if we truly confess our sins. So many of us used to think that we can come to GOD in our last minute. But no one knows when is our last minute. Now we our living in the Grace period so turn to GOD now itself don't wait for the last minute.
