No website is 100% safe. You never know what kind of problems could happen. Websites have always been known to crash or get hacked. You never know who could get a hold of your personal info and use it against you. How do you know you can trust Facebook anyway? What have they or any other website done to earn your trust? It's well known that web companies secretly sell member info to third parties. If you want to be a member of Facebook, I would only put one pic, no personal info like city, phone number, or state, no pics or names of your children, and do not add friends to your list that you don't know.

I just joined facebook today. Now when i try to sign in again, they tell me i have to send them a text message with my mobile phone. I do not like that. What is up with that? i dont know any other site that asks for this when you sign in.

I think its safe to publish my personal information in Facebook because we have the option to show it to the people whom we want to show it, as well as hide it from the people that we don't want to show our information to. It is possible though that some people will steal information and probably even steal other people's identity. But facebook protects it by its security options. So Yes. I do trust Facebook.

Facebook allows you to make your personal info private and to show only to certain people you want to. Everyone i have on my facebook page are my freinds and my friends are who i trust and if i don't trust someone i have on my page then i guess i would delete them and then that would be the end of the freindship. Facebook has rules and regulations just like any other site would and it is up to you to publish your private information if you want to or not. Facebook doesn't tell you that you need to have your info on there so it is left up to the person in charge of that account.

I do not publish my phone # or address on facebook. Even though my profile is private to most of the world, I am not comfortable showing this information.

I dont really like to publish anything truly personal about me on websites. I only stick to the basics and ONLY share it with people that I actually know in real life rather than friend request anyone I've ever seen. I dont really think publishing information is really safe but I may be a little biased because i just don't really trust that kind of thing. Also when you post something up there, it stays there forever.
