Can someones negativity rub off?

If you constantly get told your doing things wrong, you cant get it right, never will get it right, good for nothing and each and every idea you have you get told 'no it wont work' etc....etc....etc. do you think that it can turn you negative and you start to believe that your hopeless? I think that positivity goes a long way even in the most negative situations. what do you think?
