when i watch a vampire or werewolf movie i like to think i know 'the horror rules' like eat garlic, have a cross ready, holy water burns, silver bullets and all that stuff so i find it weird when new films go against 'the rules' like vampires who wander about in the day. do you like the new film rules or do you feel safer knowing where you stand when it comes to fighting monsters the traditional way?

I believe that Stephanie Meyer, the author of the Twilight series made all vampires into pretty much invincible, and not exactly the most perfect creatures. Well, they are perfect, but that makes the characters have no character definition and no reason to have any problems. They're pretty much humans that sparkle in the sun and are apparently beautiful.
I don't really get how that is vamprism, honestly.

Well, the Twilight series is just "Awesme". you say anything about vampires, because you haven't experienced them ever.if u have some experience about vampires then you should visit Twilights official site and ask them.

The rules about horror movies before are corny these days. They are no longer applicable and those things are not scary. They are all predictable. I must say that whoever change the so called rules, is a genius. I think we cant have those primeval rules until now cause people are going to find "okay" not "amazing".

I know what you mean. Times change and sometimes for the worse. Vampires are just not vampires without the garlic and cross, yet there they all are kissing and being romantic etc in Twillight. And a silver bullet for the wolfman... now they just reincarnate themselves. It just isn't what it used to be and not as much fun. Granted I never watched those kinds much, but still...it's like making Scarlett O'Hara return home to Tangerine instead of Tara or Dorothy return home to Toledo. Just don't cut it!

As long as Zombies can still be killed by destroying the brain then all is well. Otherwise all my careful planning and preparation for Z day is all in vain
I do like like the classics so I don't like to much change in the rules but sometimes a change can put an interesting spin on things.

I like the traditional rules. However, I like seeing new ideas as well. One of my favorite series of books is the "Real Vampires" series. The vampires can still really only go out at night, but they try extremely hard to fit into society, in fact, the main character drinks synthetic blood that comes in cans! It's a great story and I would in fact love to see it made into a movie. If you are referring to the movie Daybreakers, I don't really have the desire to see it, but I don't think it hurts to have a different spin on ideas, sometimes the traditional ideas get old.

I feel comfortable fighting the traditional way. I think the new authors and producers are trying to make the characters more normal and civalized. I think that's why so many young adults want to be turned into a werewolves or vampires. All because they think it's cool. They don't think about the outcome. Only that they will be different for a while. But it's really forever.

because the movies have got to be different and show their originality. it would be boring to keep showing the same old ideas or similarities. nobody wants to keep paying to go see the same old thing from a type of horror film every time unless your or you were a friday the 13th fan, lol.

The "rules" have always been shifting. If you did a bit of research on the original mythology behind the creatures, you'd probably find it very inconsistent. The rules changing isn't a recent thing either. Writers have always changed around the mythology of the creatures in their stories to come up with something new that no one's seen before. I say let them. If we saw the same things over and over again... it'd be pretty boring. Besides... there are always those who will go back to the traditional mythology.

Since vampires are just a myth, movies and books can describe them in any way that makes them interesting. There are no rules to horror movies. Things change all the time. Even the older movies didn't all agree on exactly how vampires would function. Frankly, the more variety there is, the better I like it.
