I have such a hard time sleeping sometimes, and when i finally get to sleep it's late and when i wake up as soon as i stand up my head starts to pound. It feels like all the blood rushes to my feet and I get the worst headache. What could be causing this? I was told to check my blood pressure cause it could be high.

hello Momathome,
If you have trouble sleeping at night why don't you try to have an exercise in the morning and not at night.
2. Don't take naps in your bed during the day, use a couch or a chair and only sleep in your bed at night.
3. If you can't sleep then wake up and write a journal or maybe read a very boring book.
4. Try meditation and prayer so you will have peacefulness before you sleep.
5. Avoid stimulants like coffee, tea and colas before sleeping.
What you are experiencing when you woke up is maybe an Orthostatic Hypotension.. you blood pressure suddenly falls down when you stand up abruptly after lying for a long time.
When you woke up, try not to stand abruptly.. try to sit first in your bed for 3 minutes then dangle for 3 minutes and then stand up.

It's possible. It's also possible that you're not getting nearly enough sleep or that you're chronically dehydrated. The thing that's helped me most with my insomnia is establishing a set bedtime routine where I spend at least an hour winding down before going to sleep. It also helps to exercise more during the duration of the day.
Talk to your doctor. He's the expert.
