When you refer someone to MyLot

Do you help them along, and tell them some do's and don't's? I would try to do that. I have done that, but my referrals are all family members, as well. The reason I ask is because of all these people who get disillusioned when their posts are deleted for infractions. I have just encountered a new user who has posted all of his responses in a foreign language. I warned him, and reported him. There is just no way to discuss what you cannot read. I guess we need to remember to help those we refer.

For the last two years I have been promoting myLot and I have acquired some referrals. I know none of them personally. When admin Alice was asking for suggestions we asked for referrals to be automatically added to our friend list so that we can contact them as soon as they register and that was implemented with the last upgrade. It has made a lot of difference! When a new referral joins I send a PM welcoming them and offering as much help as they want. I am there for them because if they are happy then I am too. Once they get the hang of it here, and some of them do, I then tell them about an incentive that I offer them. I don't tell them immediately because myLot is not just about earnings but once I see them happily posting I let them know that I will share my referral earnings with them each time they reach payout. One of my most recent referrals reached payout within one month of joining and now reaches it every month. He learnt immediateky what myKLot is about and is a great friend to many on here now. I guess you know Richnai too? If I had not been able to contact him I am not really sertain that he would have got off to a flying start like he did but he is proof that it can be done and without being here 24/7 every day either

That is an excellent example of what I am talking about. If they succeed and are happy you will be too. You would not let them go all over the board posting in a foreign language without sending a personal message about it.

I am an advocate of team work here. If we all work as a team, responding and commenting and furthering thr topics, then we are all winners. If we recruit referrals ans don't help them then two people lose, us and them

Oh yeah and so far none of mine have done You have to go and set their notifiers to 'on' though as they are still set to 'off' by default. You will not know when they start a discussion if you leave it the way it is when they join.

I have only two active referrals out of five. The three just didn't last long here and have not even attempted to participate in any discussions. I do brief them on what to expect here and how to go about in being a member of mylot. It will take sometimes for them to get used to the working of mylot.

Yes, see, I tell people what to expect, and I would think everyone would. I do not have active referrals, unless you count hubby who has made payout one time in four years. LOL

I think only like minded people are active here. They need to like writing and socializing to be worthy of being called referrers. Otherwise inviting them without doing anything is only making them 'sleeping partners'.

Garden one time in four years.. See if we can't get our significant others to be active how can we expect others to be.

Well, it would be easier to help those we refer in here if we knew who all of them are, and had their Email addresses, or something like in some of the other Social Networking sites. I did help a lot of the people in myLot that were Referals here who chose to be active at one time, but no one has been active here in a long time. Maybe someday I can find some more to want to be active again like me?

I have not really had a lot of luck getting active referrals here. If you refer someone here, you just contact them through a PM.

I have in the past, when they accept my friend request, but it looks like the earlier ones just never came back.. Then I had one with (10) that signed up over 3 years ago and did nothing but put mylot down..His loss I guess....I do have one that is active, over (700), but they never accepted me friend request, so I guess I don't have to worry about him..Then I have a couple personal friends sign up under me and they have done some things, but they are busy too with school and life. I might encourage them again, but as for my others that never came back, I could try contacting them again and see what happens..

The thing is, if you do refer people, you kind of help them along so that they succeed. I know some people do not make the commitment to learn and make friends. I do not think that people always notice the friend requests. I had two or three that were just pending forever, and I finally removed them, yet I am friendly with them on the site when we bump into each other.

I think my one active referral I didn't bum into, but went to one of their discussions that normally I wouldn't reply to, (it was about some money making or something like that) and I made a reply and then said that I have requested them as a friend, kind of hinting that they do have friend requests. But that's okay, as long as they are doing something, I don't have to be their friend..lol

I do not have many referrals, or I do not have any, I have a friend who got 10 now, but she in the end become not my referral, I do not know what happened. And now, I am not really that interested making referrals at all, it is hard to convince people specially if they are not really interested in this thing. But I am always willing to help new comers here, I even made topic about it couple of months ago...

That is the truth. Most of us who come here regularly try to help other out so that they are successful on the site and stay and enjoy themselves. Referrals are hard to get and to get to be active.

Yes, you will earn 25% of their earnings. Of course all of your friends and you will want to post and respond and earn a lot. Good luck.

It would have been someone sometime who would have been miffed at coming across a foreign language post on a website that requests/requires English posts by its members. Such a violation would have caught up with that person by someone else if it was not for you; that someone else may not have been so polite in giving the violator a warning. Don't beat yourself up for doing a good deed.

I am not beating myself up, so much as just wondering why someone did not get this guy off on the right track. You would help a referral out, and so would I. There are lots of foreign language sites available. I would not dream of posting in English on one. I do wonder if it is as someone suggested, their translating service is not working or they do not know how to use it. It is a shame to see someone making the same mistake all over the website.

It's really difficult to try and secure referrals as I'm sure it's a trust thing! It's better if you do have a lot of family members as referrals then you stand a good chance of making an income from their efforts. I guess it's a good thing anyhow to teach and show your referrals the ropes as it were! I guess you then act as their mentor on My Lot and make sure that they are comfortable and that they do well. As it stands I don't have one referral and I have been with My Lot a long time now and it's kind of irritating! I guess you cannot force people to join up but I sure wish they would. I'm giving up, I don't care about referrals anymore, I think they are a waste of time! They give up too easily when the going gets tough! Andrew

I really do not have referrals on any site but one. I was amazed at getting them for that one. I was referred to another site by a friend here, then I was able to recruit some referrals at another site where I post. It is amazing what a referral or two can do for earnings. I never have really had referrals here, but I enjoy it anyway.

Maybe his translator program wasn't working and he didn't know it.

Maybe you are right, I am not familiar with how that would work. You would think, though, he would look at his several responses and see that they were not in English. I did let him know, so he has a chance to change it.

I don't have any referrals :-( It is nice of you to help them along and notify them of all the rules and regulations. There are a lot of "don't" on here and some of them are a bit grey, so to clarify that to your referrals is good, and would probably keep them more active.

The thing is, the person I am referring to is not my referral. He needs help if he will accept it. I am sure you have noticed that there are many people on here who are willing to help at any time. I wish everyone could be comfortable and active here.

I do not have any referrals, here. I have tried diligently, I have begged, called, emailed and text family members but no one will sign-up. Funny though these are the same people who dare ask my broke bee-hind for a few bucks here and there. HA! Anyways if I did have referrals I would literally help them along the entire way, as if they earn, I earn. If they leave then I lose. I replied to a newcomers discussion the other day about her asking why we all hide behind avatars. I explained to her that it was an expression and what we liked and or that since myLot allows us to have this preference. She had something like a glamour shot of herself, by the way. I explained that if this were a dating site then it would make sense that we all put our best picture forward and told her about the wonder members and experiences here. You know what her reply back was. All capital letters, then what kind of effen site is this. Now I could have allowed the true Puerto Rican in me let her have it right, but I do value my membership here, so I simply informed her that Here on myLot utilizing all capital letters was not permitted, and explained about the guidelines and gave her the link. I also told her utilizing capital letters would be reasons to be bumped off the site as myLot does not tolerate members not following the rules. HA! two seconds later she replies in capital letters, well alright then I was just asking, then said okay then let's be friends. What! I know she never returned so see it is hard to help people without them getting frustrated. Oh to top she negative me for giving her the guideline link.

Wow!!! What kind of a site did she think it was, a dating site? I saw a discussion in a sidebar about people wanting to find their soulmate on MyLot. I think I would look closer to home. People do not have to be rude, but it seems to be the real trend these days.
8 Sep 10
When I reffered someone I told her if she ever needed help that I'd be there to support her but she didn't even make one post.

Yes, I would think that would be a gibben. I just think alot of people don't think they have to read the rules and guidelines. Just like alot of men don't think they have to read the instructions. Ofcourse you do. There are so many little things that each site and company does differently. It really pays to read the guidelines/instructions.

I have two new referrals and I always encouraged them to read the guidelines and follow them by heart. Sometimes I even stalk them to know what they have been up to. I couldn't say I am the most law-abiding mylot citizen here. I too have violations that's why I advise them not to take it all from me but to really read the do's and don'ts. Besides, telling them what to and what not to do here is like spoonfeeding. They also need to feel that they are accountable for their own actions. As long as I know I didn't lack in reminding them, I can feel safe.

Hey, yes, me too. The other two couldn't sustain. The other one just didn't have the passion for writing. And the other one is now working full-time in a hospital and could barely have access to the internet.

I have been here for just over a year now and I have yet to refer anyone and to be honst I probably never will...I like that no one on here knows me personally because it allows me to speak freely and maybe let a few secrets lose that I wouldn't in my everyday life. I guess though if I knew the referral personally I would let them know but if not I would let them learn on their own as long as it didn't effect my posts or my earnings..They should know enough to read the rules and regulations before they start and if they don't then they shouldn't be on here..
