I don't know if you have this in your country but here in the Philippines this is one of our favorite snacks.. Banana cue is simply a banana rolled in brown sugar and deep fried. The hot oil then caramelizes the sugar. It is then put in a small stick as can be seen in the attached photo..the banana is cued to the stick.
I just would like to ask if you know any healthy information about this. Because my mom really loves it and she eats it almost everyday. Im a bit worried because she might be getting sick because she eats too much of banana cue..as in like almost everyday. Is this good to our body? Can we get a lot of vitamins or minerals from this food? What are the effects of this to our body if we eat it everyday? How much can we take banana cue in a week? Please share if you know anything about it..would really appreciate your comments.
Happy myLotting

Hello there Gaiza, well banana is really good for our body, however, bananacue contains sugar so if your mother is already at her age,she should limit her intake of sweets. That kind of sugar used is really hard to get out of her system which does really trigger diabetes.
What makes a person get sickness eating bananacue? well you should know how clean that bananacue has been prepared. If it wasn't covered and exposed to dust and pollution because it was sold near the street, chances are , you would really get sick, not now,but it will be in the future so she better control eating especially side street foods.

Our neighbor sells it and she's a friend of my mom and even if she knows it is clean, it is still being sold in the street. And you are right, she might be getting sick in the future if she won't listen to me. Sometimes she even eats banana cue with softdrinks..i just pray that she will listen to me and stop her love for that food. In moderation maybe..but not eating it in a major major everyday snack. Thanks for sharing :)

Im from the Philippines. And we eat banana cue only every sundays. I dont know why, but we always eat it on Sundays. But anyways, I think that its not gonna be bad, if your mom eats banana cue in moderation because it can have high cholesterol in it, and also there are sugar contents. Which can be bad because it can most clog up blood vessels with those cholesterol from frying and the sugar content. And i guess this saying fits well, "TO MUCH OF SOMETHING IS BAD ENOUGH". To avoid any further damage, the best thing you can do, is to tell your mom to eat banana cue in moderation. The Banana is a real healthy fruit, but the way its cooked can affect the health somehow.

Bananas are super good for your body. They are loaded with fiber and nutrients. The brown sugar isn't too bad for you, it's not the greatest, but it's not too bad! However, the oil is terrible! It's the only part that's bad for you. Olive oil is better than others but it's got lots of fat even though it's "good" fats.

Palm oil is not as bad as some of the other ones that are available!

banana is good, brown sugar is not bad and cooking oil is not too bad. If your mother is not diabetic then there's nothing wrong if she consumes it on a daily basis. coconut oil is no that bad either. Eating pork is probably more dangerous if you compare it to consuming a lot of coconut oil.

Bananas are of course an excellent food nutritionally, they contain a high content in potassium, fibre and vitamins such as B6, C and A.
However too much consumption of brown sugar and oil are not so goo, although I must say this dish sounds delicious I think that it would be better to limit it a little and on several days a week just 'unzip a banana' and eat it naturally !!

banana is rich in K potassium.it is good for our health, try to tell your mom eat the purely banana and not fried with sugar,if she is diabetic then sugar content of banana cue can increase her sugar level, also the cooking oil can affect to our health so its better eat purely banana.

I am sure that the oil and sugar is a little hard on her body, but we all do things that are bad for us. If she enjoys eating it, then I say leave her alone unless she begins to have problems for eating it. It does sound delicious and I might have to try it someday here at home.

For all i know, banana is good for our health but with all of those sugar syrup included on banana cue, i'd say it's bad for our health. You could get diabetes or something from it.

Yup. It's still bad. I suggest eating raw banana. It's healthier than a banana cue. :)

Hi there! I also love eating banana cue especially when its raining because it really compliments the cold weather outside our home. I also have a fond memory of those delicious filipino delicacy because before, my mother sell those and i help her in preparing it. Her banana cues was a major hit always especially when its raining. To the point that, many were just waiting to have them even if its not yet cooked.
As far as I know, bananas are good for our health. Its a natural food and almost all the natural foods we have are gifts of nature and was taken cared of and prepared for us, human beings. The only thing that makes it unhealthy is the oil and sugar content of it when bananas are cooked into becoming a banana cue. As we all know, all that's excessive is bad. And too much oil and sugar will surely be bad for anyone's health. Good night!

I agree to most of the responses. It is rich in potassium which is good for the muscles especially for the heart. But, as we say "too much of something is bad" as well. If your mom lives an active life, there is absolutely no problem. Otherwise, she should control or observe a proper diet especially if your family has underlying conditions like Diabetes, Heart problems etc. Anyway, I think its far better than the grilled bananas! ;)

banana is good for our health it gives us potassium which is needed by our tissues. especially muscle tissues. but the high sugar content is the bad thing. if your mom is diabetic, try to lessen her intake of bananacue ok.

Yes i did ask her to lower down her intake of it..but she never listens, she just so love banana cue. And does potassium good in our body? I mean we can have hyperkalemia (high potassium level in our body) if we take in bananas everyday or at least almost everyday?

You know, everything eats too much is not good for our health. And I think banana cue isn't have too much nutrition.Because some kinds of vitamin will be resolved by heat and lose their original nutrition. As we know brown sugar and deep fried will produce caramel piment and some high gather compounds which will do harm to human's health. So not eat too much banan cue no matter how attracted .

Saba bananas are the best banana variety. I think this the most delicious one. I like to eat saba but not banana cue. I prefer it simply cut into halves and then fried in sunflower oil and that's it. I don't like any added sugar but I love adding some fresh butter. Banana is rich in potassium but I don't think banana cue is healthy at all because the oil where it is cooked make it really high in cholesterol. Also the sugar is not good for those who have blood sugar issues. Nevertheless eating banana cue just once in a while is okay. Just don't eat this everyday.

In my opinion, everything of too much is bad. Banana cue is healthy in a sense because it is a fruit. However, the caramelized part is not healthy at all. The caramelized part is full of sugar. This can only lead to diabetes. If you want to eat something healthy, then i suggest you eating the banana by itself. Eating the banana without sugar is better. it tastes good too!
