How much would you need to make per month to live comfortably?

I have worked out that at the moment, with how much things cost right now, I would need to make around £500 ($800) per month to be able to live comfortably in a lifestyle to which I have become accustomed. I am trying my hardest to work other whether it is feasible to earn this online, or whether I am going to have to look a little further afield with regards to my own job prospects and the like. How much do you think you would like to make per month? Are you able to do all of this online, or do you have another plan? -------------------------- Like my discussions? In the US this amount of money would not go far, in most cities you couldn't get rent that cheap, I'd say about 4 times that much would be needed just to live above the proverty level. That's what we have living in the country and we are always a little behind.

Rent for a good place is usually $600.00 and that's for a two bedroom... so yeah rent would take up most of a month's salary, and I don't think anyone could do it with only one source of income. Unless they never ate.

To live comfortably w/o too much stress... I would say $3,000-4,000 a month (excluding income taxes). Truly won't be seeing that online. I do make $10-20 a month online BUT we still have to work outside the home. Especially me I was home for 5 yrs and even with my small job it's not enough to pay the bills. I hate stressing out over money!!

Hi GemmaR, my kid has grown up and can stand on his own leg. He gives me pocket money monthly. as a matter of course my husband is the breadwinner of the family for sure. Other than having income from my part time work I try to earn some small surplus receipts from stock investment as well as wee online income. Normally five hundred us dollars is enough for my daily expenses if I don't pursue luxurious lifestyle. I don't think I could earn more and become rich making online money Have a nice day

gemma% well I cantell you one thing right off the bat you are not going to make as much as 800 dollars a month on the net. I am retired and my social security and SSI check cover my rent and board here and leave me the huge sum of one hunrdred and twenty five dollars a month for personal needs. They charge 981 dollars per month here so its not cheap.,A working person in California would need to make at least two thousand a month to be able to rent a two bedroom apt even the crummiest of themn and pay utilities and food too. The cost of living here is really horrible now and the jobless rate is horrible too.

I agree Vonmac.. what IS the point of starting discussions id one is never going to reply back to them? It really doesn't earn you much and it just leaves all these responders hanging.. never a question answered or a comment back. :(

Well, not including what my husband already makes from the money that he is making in his job, I would love to have an additional six hundred dollars per month. We wouldn't have nearly that amount of financial need, but we are currently paying the stupid tax (past credit card debt) that really increases the amount of money that we require in a single month. I would like to be able to do that online, but I also do have a backup plan of making some money getting busy with my Tupperware business again.

Well I would have to make about $2,500.00 a month in order for my family to live comfortable. I have not been able to make that onling though I just started. I have a fulltime job where my monthly salary is $1900 before taxes but after everything is taken out for medical benefits and pension I only come home with $1100. Thats why i've turned to online to make extra money. With a household of 5 everything counts.

I know what you mean about once you take taxes, medical insurance, 401k's, & other misc deductions you look like you work for next to nothing. We've got a family of 5 here too!

I think i need at least S$900 or so to live comfortably. I dun really spend much in life, except for my bills, and some household expenses. I'm single right now, with no commitment and family, thus that amount is just right for me.. haha =D But if i wanna be eating something better, i guess i need at least S$1500 or more. Because food over here is not really cheap, and transport is definitely expensive too.. haha =D

My husband and I would need to make about $1000 a month to live comfortably. We're looking into getting an apartment, we already found a place that we like. I just need to get an offline job as I've not been able to make enough online to live comfortably for the both of us. I hardly make enough to even supplement one income. I say $1000 because rent would be $600.00 a month. Then there's electricity and cable we'd have to pay, as well as gas for the car, and we'd need money for food as well. So maybe more then $1000 would be best. Right now our bills don't add up to much but adding on an apartment would add another $900, so yeah I'd say $1500 would be much more cushiony for us. I could make part of that online, but still need a job to supplement the other part.

I could use about another $1000 on top of what I make to live comfortable. Right now I'm just making it with a little spending money left over

My husband works and earns a decent income but we barely scrape by once all our bills are paid. I earn very little with my writing and small online ventures. For us to live comfortable and have a little money left over for the occasional holiday I would need to earn at least $1000 a month which would be added to his wage…Then we could breathe…

I wish could make it on $800 a month...To be super comfortable...I would need about $1000 more than what I make now. I have girls to take of too. Hair..clothes..etc...that stuff runs into money.

Unfortunately, mine would be more than this. I think 4 times this much still wouldn't cover my monthly expenses. The mortgage would be the biggest contributor to the expenses. Plus, I have to ammortize the property taxes. So, my expenses are really really too high making it impossible for me to only rely on online earnings. Sometimes I wonder myself how I survive month after month.

The cost of living here in our country is really not that high. I think I can live comfortably for at least $800 a month. That's enough for my daily expenses, house rent, utilities bills and savings. So far I am earning around that amount so I think I am living comfortably now. But of course it won't hurt if I earn more.

As much as I could in any way I can. :D Well, just enough to pay my bills and support my small projects, of course that excludes necessities. Working online is a potential aspect if only you mastered its technicalities and learned its secrets. If you have the talent and sufficient capital invest in business, its an option, or simply look for a decent good-paying job that suits you.

Excluding rents - a sum of Rs.25000 (1 dollar = Rs.45 or so as of now) would give me a reasonably comfortable life out here. :)
