Burning Quran could cause more hate and pain.

Hello Lotters,
Supposedly, i won't be talking about this since it's one of those sensitive topics that i usually avoid. but i hope what ever i said here wouldn't blind from rating me down since this issue has been quite bothersome to me.
It's definitely another Death Anniversary of those who had died in the twin tower. and we all know the date is. i believe a moment of silence and a bit mourn would be much of a help bring peace to the dead. and not burning a certain religion book that people believe to be causing the terrorism/extremism.
I believe that Burning Quran is not just wrong, but probably we would end up like extremist themselves.gives me a good old reason i remain a Catholic. there's nothing said in OUR bible that says "Muslims and Jews are pigs and stinky?? but it was more like

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God
Besides, it's not helping our fellow Christians and Muslims alike. most specially to those who are really innocent. this burning of the book will cause nothing then to prevent and forget about utiny, divisiveness will be even more terrible .
WE MUST THINK My CHRISTIANS AND SISTERS. if god is m merciful, then what makes us different from terrorist.
i hope we are not going back to teh stone age.

My personal feeling is that human beings aroudn the world are all the same, a mother's feeling towards her child will be the same disregard of any religion or country. A teenagers rudeness will not change as per his religion or his upbringing. Its is just a few peopl who like to stir up thing sin the name of religion and this pastor should be banned from preaching as he has such evil intentions, for his 10 mintues of global attention, he is trying to stri trouble across countries and people. It is a shame that such people call themselves pastors. Commom people do not have time or energy to stir trouble because they are busy working hard to earn money and keep their families happy.
This pastor gets monetary contributions and doe not have to worry about money and hence for his few moents of fame, is ready to see people suffer. I am a catholic and my heart pains to see such people represent christanity. Because christanity stands for peace and oneness.

Like you..I usually stay away from these types of discussions.
Here is my 2 cents on the matter.
I believe that burning any kind of book is wrong
I do not understand why it would cause the Muslim people to Hate him for it. and why it would cause such a big eruption with the Muslim world.
If some one burned my Bible. I would think the person was a idiot. and i would feel sorrow for the person, and then i would pray for him, and ask God to forgive him. But hate...That is what is wrong with this world too much hate in it.

I think burning the Quran is a grave mistake. Why infuriate the many innocent muslims who had no hands in what happened to the twin towers. Like all other religions of the world, when their believers turn extreme they interpret the contents of their holy books which can easily sway their understanding of the true teaching of their religions thus turning them from the true path to the ways of the Satan. I believe all religions are teaching the right way of life and those who are responsible for the destruction of the twin towers are demonic possessed. By going ahead with the burning of the Quran will spiral into a religious war in this world which will not be healthy for peaceful settlement of terrorisms or the like. I hope the anniversary of the twin tower incident is conducted peacefully and not by rubbing more salts to the wound.

@Graptopetalum, I have read a book written by an ex muslim who condemn the contents of the Koran as a book that has verses teaching its followers to fight the infidels. What they mean by infidels here are people who doesn't subscribe to the islamic faith. A holy book can infact start an unholy war as is seen now. That may explain the birth of terrorisms in this world.

I would suggest that Muslims who hate violence actually read the Koran. It teaches violence! If they don't like that, they should convert to a more peaceful religion rather than trying to build a peaceful house on burning foundations!

Last I heard the burn was on hold...I mean everyone and their brother was there yesterday...FBI, CIA, every News outfit from everywhere. I think the guy got the attention he wanted. I don't know if the Big"0" ever called him like he wanted, but I bet he did.
There is no religion that is free of slaughter and don't hide behind yours like it was pure. The Catholics have a history of slaughtering the Muslims...that is when they invented the Jihad...to stop the Catholic slaughter. You guys called them the unwashed and heathens because they did not believe in the christ figure. You never took into account that they were monotheists. You also had a bad habit of slaughtering Jews, but then everyone did so I guess you figured that that was cool...The Muslims actually have a history of protecting Jews until someone told the "Palestinians" that Israel was really theirs. If you check it out though, there is a bit of a problem with that.
By the way, a lot of the world has never progressed from ancient times in their laws...Read Sharia Law, it is online...It is very enlightening.

Adoniah,
I'm new here so I hope my interjection is appropriate but. . . You can not lump Protestant Christians and Catholics together. We separated from that group for many reasons and do not have the same history of tyranny and violence.
Shalom to you, as well.

Hello Adoniah,
Why on hold when they can just forget about it. well, that was in the past, this isn't our doings now. back then, it was the height of Catholics power that led to separation of others leading to creation of other christian relgions. i feel sad about this, why are we going back to the path that is not supposed to.

The person who plans to burn the qoran is blinded. He's claiming that the qoran teaches it's followers to be fundamentalist but his plan to burn it makes him an extremist himself. Not once in my christian life did i hear or had been preached to hate other religions but this person is actually planning to do something that just might spark world war III. His plan totally negates what a christian means. It seems that he's blaming the entire muslim world for the act of a few who claims to be muslims but are nowhere near it in reality. We see muslim extremists almost everyday and they are those who blow themselves up whenever the they have the chance. Now, we're seeing a christian extremist but the only difference is he has no plans of blowing himself up but his act could very well blow up the entire world. And we're making famous him famous because of it.

Hello Ybong,
Worst, that person happened to be a Pastor in the US. i don't know if this was pursued but i don't like it one bit and could cost more. even if it's a Christian Extremist, it's not Christian at ALL. hate is something that christians is supposed to be despised. but it's easy said than done.

He's been receiving a lot of flak from almost everyone, from politicians to religious leaders. Given all the negative reactions from everyone, i don't think that pastor will ever do what he planned. I don't think he means to burn the koran because i saw an article and it was indicated that he was still praying for any signs from god on whether he should continue with his plans or not. I can say that he could be blinded, but i'm sure he is not a fool. Not unless he's already senile. For now, he is the most famous man in the world, i don't think he would do anything foolish to destroy his fame .

Actually Jones is quiet right, the Koran does teach Muslims to be fundamentalist! It frequently complains about "hypocrites" (moderate Muslims). This wouldn't be a problem if it said that fundamentalists should be peaceful but it teaches the opposite!
Remember that a true fundamentalist isn't a nutjob, they stick to the true teachings of their scripture. Most American "Christian fundamentalists" are nut jobs. They're not really fundamentalists because they're beliefs have more to do with the Republican Party than the Bible. The Bible preaches peace and to only use violence in extreme situations. Therefore a true Christian fundamentalist should be peaceful, unless there are extreme circumstances.
The Koran teaches violence and religions intolerance so a Muslim fundamentalist should be prepared to use violence against "infidels".
Burning the Korans is a peaceful protest against what Jones (and many others, including myself) consider to be extreme evil. Why do so many people seem more concerned about this than the many atrocities Muslims commit?

Why burn those things? Why can't we just respect their religion and be friendly to them. We have to respect each other. Burning those Quran will never bring back those lives taken. It may only spark a bigger fight. The deed of one or a group of people doesn't mean the will and consent of the entire religion. If Qurans will be burned, then the rights and ego of those innocent will also be in pain.

Hello mspitot,
well, we do respect their religion. it's just that some are blinded and misguided christians too, that they want to imitate the muslim protester and extremist. but you know, it's not going to be good and yes, it's gonna spark a bigger fight.

I have zero respect for any religion other than Christianity and Judaism! I particularly hate Islam because it's a corruption of Christianity and Judaims and it teaches violence. I don't hate Muslims as people, I hate Islam as an ideology.

Hello Academic,
Burning books is the low life thing that i have ever heard in my life. so, it also promotes hate and it doesn't help out with solving the problem against terrorism. dialogue with the muslims directly still is the answer. Burning those is provocation yet again, and it gives reason for extremist again to strike..probably worse than 9/11.

In the United States we value the right to freedom of sppech. That being said we do not like banning books or peoples cause we disagree. There have been books banned by schools or libraries. In history we have even had people burn books. While I disagree it is part of free speech but it is also vandalizm. If readers would take the time to read these books we would find many similarities. These days book burning only incites the radical people to feel good. Tolerance is the answer along with education. "Walk a mile in my shoes" would be a good way for others to learn how each of us feels.

If people read the Koran, they will find that it teaches hatred and persecution of non-Muslims and moderate Muslims (hypocrites). It also teaches sexism, wife beating and hatred towards homosexuals.

Hello Carmel,
that's because the church has done this before, and they learned their lesson. when other christian church decided to leave catholics we didn't think they would do such thing as i thought they wouldn't repeat this church's past mistakes. if they do this, then they're no different from what the catholic church did in the past. Catholics has always been a Christian Religion, it has it's pros and cons.
yes, am still blessed am still a catholic. it's not perfect but at least it's no longer doing things like burning religious books.

Hi, Knight.:)
Honestly, I don't see any good reasons why there's such a need to burn Quran. It doesn't make sense.
I am against terrorism, too, but I am not against the Islam or the Muslims in general. It isn't the whole Muslim community who created the dreadful eventualities of 9/11. It was the work of some distorted people. Islam had nothing to do with it, too....
Why would we take everything against the whole Muslim community or against Islam? Burning Quran dorsn't justify anything.. And it is also shameful because the ones doing it are far worse than the terrorist of that 9/11 event. We should move on. That is the only way to heal....
God bless us all...

Hello eureka,
that's what happens when peoples start believing in religion literally what it says in the religious book and not seeing the deeper meaning into it. what their doing is another provocation, and it wouldn't help at all. they think it's gonna scare the muslims? if they do this, ordinary muslims might side with the extremist if this continues. they should stop it, no excuses.

LetranKnight25, what is the result of taking religion literally - 9/11 or burning the Koran? Both? Sorry but I sincerely believe not going to take you're scriptures literally is illogical. When Christians do bad things, it's usually the case that they're not the Bible literally or they're interpreting it in a very strange way or are following some teaching which isn't in the Bible.
eurekafeme, you obviously haven't read the Koran. 9/11 wasn't the whole Muslim community but it did have a lot to do with Islam! The Koran teaches violence towards other religions and even moderate Muslims (hypocrites). It also advocates wife beating. There's even a verse saying that an infidel won't be safe if he hides in a tall tower!
How can burning some Korans possibly be worse than 9/11?

Yeah. Right. It is written in the Bible, "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of God". That pastor who insisted on burning Koran looks like he doesn't read his Bible. I doubt he is a son of God, maybe a son of something evil.

Hello magtibaygom,
Yeah, what the heck does he think his doing? this is what happens if the person is believing their bible literally. no, what he's doing it evil in all sense. that's not an excuse to hate back, i wouldn't agree to this. such could provoke war and more violence to christian brothers and sisters in the middle east.

What about that bit in Acts where they burnt a lot of books of "Curious arts" (generally thought to mean occultism)?
Then there's all that stuff in the Old Testament about destroying idols and so forth of other religions.
I don't think you could simply denounce burning the Koran off as un-Biblical.

Islam is the religion of peace. Many mullahs make this peaceful religion into tyrannical one. God is most Just; He never promotes violence. Holy Quran only supports self defense and not aggression. Source: www.progressive-muslim.org from there I learn a lot about True Islam. We should read entire Quran then many misunderstandings will be solved about Islam.

I also this thing is getting way over blown! I do! I could care less if the bible or the American flag is burned! Other countries and people will do this no matter what! I am sure the Quran has been before but properly not made national headlines! People will express their feelings no matter what even if they are being total idiots! I don't agree with it but sometimes we just can't stop it!

I don't claim to know what Jones is thinking. He can speak for himself.
However I've read the Koran (unlike Jones) and it convinced me that Islam is inherently evil and violent (not to mention sexist) and that a war between the West and Islam is inevitable.
Is a peacemaker one who does nothing while evil succeeds or is it one who opposes the evil, perhaps fighting a small war to prevent a large one?
Should Muslims have the authority to dictate what Americans can and can't do? Should Muslims have authority over Christians. Because this business certainly makes it look likes that's the case and that really frightens me.
