I live in the Philippines and I'm a student. Many students here always buy newly released phones. I am not one of them, they like expensive phones. My phone is small that costs, $20...very light phone that you can put inside your wallet. After buying this? I left my phones with camera and the touchscreen phone from samsung...i love this phone so much which make me feel ok to travel wherever I want to. A robber may not think this is a cellphone.hehehe...what's your?

I live in the Philippines too. The cheapest phone that I bought was a Cherry p1 worth Php 995, just about $20. Though I just use it as a spare phone, I do love it because of how light it is , how small it fits and it wouldn't hurt so much if someone steals my phone because its not that expensive. Thanks for sharing by the way. :) Have a nice day

yeah it seems, those cheap phones are the new fad nowadays and not the expensive one any more. i don't like the calculator looking cherry mobile p1. not only because how it looks but since it branded phone but still a china phone. i still wonder for how long it will last. as $20 is still not cheap for me if that phone will not that long.

I didnt have to buy my old phones since they were hand me downs from my mom.LOL She would get those Plan subscriptions that comes with a free phone. She uses the subscription and I would use the phone.^_^ Most of them are basic phones. The last one is slim and has a camera. I liked that phone. Anyway, the cheapest one that I bought with my hard earned savings and a little bit from online earnings is the Cherry F10. Its the cheapest dual sim phone that I could find and cost me a whopping P1590. It comes with FM radio and a flashlight too!LOL I was thinking of buying the P1 as well since they have it on sale here(P740) but I needed a dual sim phone because over the years Ive acquired more than 1 sim cards which are hand me downs as well and freebies from events or from the school. I also love that basic F10 because it fits my hand perfectly, and thieves might either be not interested in stealing it or they couldnt since I get a good hold of it.

i like all the responses here. We all have different reasons on why we are using cheap phones, not just to save money because many of us use these phones as a spare, same as my reason, i have read that he/she is using it for security reasons. Not all places are safe so better use a phone that is cheap.

yep, with the availability of affordable phones, we can manage all our different numbers if we have more than one or have a basic phone in "theft hotspot" while owning a high end phone to satisfy our technological cravings.^_^

The least expensive one I have was around $100 and that was almost over a decade ago. I was still new in using cellphone at that time so I bought a cheap one but brand new. When I discovered Nokia, it became my brand of choice ever since. When the communicator came out, I bought it immediately and fell in love. The cheapest one I bought was $600 and that was already around 5 years ago.

Wow. Kababayan? hehe.. I'm from the Philippines as well and almost all my phones were given by my mother. From the old ones to my newest one. I think this one that I have costs only $20 as well at this time. This phone was since 2005 that's why it costs less nowadays. I think that phone that you have is either the one from cherry mobile or torque which was like a calculator and yeah, thieves or snatchers won't even think it's a cellphone so it's safer to use.

I'm from Vietnam, in my country, there is a trend that people using 2-3 phones at once, and so do I. I got a Blackberry for my texting and technology discovering and also a Nokia 1208 that only cost about 20$ for making phone calls, I really like my cheap phone, as the fact that it is small, so I can easily put it in my pocket, moreover, the battery last long and the call quality is really stable. Using this making phone calls on the street doesn't make me afraid that I will got robbed right? Cheap phone!!!Ya!

Yes, that's true. I also have a phone close to that, or let's say, looks like your nokia 1202.. it's nokia 1600. and using this phone makes it safer to use. It's not a camera phone but has a lot of use and you're right, the batter last longer than any other phones.

I'm wondering if you're using the one that looks like a calculator :) The cheapest phone I bought is Nokie 1202. It is roughly about $24 also by the time I bought it just a few months ago. I'm not sure if they've lowered the price already.

Hi. ellyse2003. I paid about $20.00 for my next to the last cell phone that I bought. It was supposed to have cost, $30.00. But I somehow got it for, $20.00 instead. This is my favorite cell phone. The minutes is just a big killer though.

I think you are referring to the cherry mobile phone..first time i saw it i really though that was a calculator. It's really cute and very much affordable. I wanted to buy it soon because if you lose the phone you won't be so sad for losing something expensive..eheh. The cheapest phone i had was the old and obsolete 3310 of nokia. that was a long time ago and i don't know how much that costs before..it was a gift from my parents.

My cheapest phone is Nokia 2100 model. I was working with this model for more than 4 years. Then I bought LG K200 model phone which i am working still now. I would like to change my model as this phone has become too old compared with my previous phone. I would like to buy a touch screen phone at cheapest rate

I am also from the Philippines and what I have now is a cellphone model Nokia 1300; during its first appearance, it cost quite a lot but now it is sold very cheap and even branded as "buy one take one". But I like it; I use it in my loading business. I don't go for expensive phones because of the situation in our country.

I have a Nokia 2323 and it cost me Au$60. Phones are expensive here and so are the plans. My phone does not have a camera but I think I can connect to the Internet but I will not use it for this. There is no coverage where I live so the phone is for when I travel in my car to bigger towns. If I have any problems I will not be stranded because I have my little phone. It is for emergencies only. My car did break down shortly after I got my phone and I was able to call the emergency road service who came and picked up my car and I was able to call a friend who picked me up. I also had my friend with me and her young son so it was really good to have my phone.

Hello, ellyse! I am from Philippines too. I am always practical in everything I buy. The cheapest phone I got was worth 800 pesos or less than $20. But I have to give it to someone since it has a lot of defects. It was a china phone. Right now, I am using a Motorolla phone worth 6k pesos in 2004. I know it is a lot cheaper these days. I am also thinking about buying a new one. The Torque phone which is $20 worth. Is that what you're using? :-)

The cheapest phone i ever bought was nearly worth 90 US dollars and it's a nokia 3500 classic and is pretty much a basic phone with a memory slot and it is still running well i still use it. I have not got myself another expensive phone. But i use my old one two. I maintain two different service providers.
