If I were going to visit you country or your local area and I asked you to recommend some thing to see and do, which things would you mention? It can be anything: Sights, museums, cities, villages, beaches, lakes, mountains, islands etc...
I live in the western part of Funen in Denmark and the biggest towns are Assens and Faaborg, and they are both beautiful. There are some very nice old houses and a harbour. From Assens you can catch a ferry to an island called Baagoe, and from Faaborg you can catch a ferry to Bjornoe, Avernakoe or Lyoe. Bjornoe is the smallest island, and there are no cars, so it is very peaceful.

The beautiful city of Chi-town has so many attractions. Like the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Six Flags, and beautiful botanic gardens.
Heck just walking around the city you can enjoy all the beautiful areas.
I included one of the Giant Crab pictures I took last year.

That is an amazing picture, I have never seen crabs like that before. There are some aquariums in my country, but they are quite small. I visited them with my family when I was a child, but I haven't been there recently. It sounds like there are a lot of interesting places to visit in Chicago. I would like to see the sights and things like that, but I also enjoy walking around and just looking at the city.

Yes it is amazing, and the Shedd Aquarium you cannot see all the wonderful sites in one day.
This is why it never gets boring as you have to make several trips to view all its beauty. Each we go there is always even more new. This is the same with all the other attractions as well.
Glad you enjoyed it.

I grew up in Chicago. It is a beautiful city with soooooooo much to do and see...oh and eat! It is a great city with so much ethnic diversity. Not to mention the architecture. Now I live down south, however my family is still up there so I am luck to visit often. My oldest son was born in Chicago and remembers living there, however my two youngest children were born elsewhere. A few years ago on a trip up to Chicago my daughter said "I love going to Chicago, it is like taking a trip around the world" We usually go to Little Italy, Greektown, Chinatown..no wonder why she thinks it is like going around the world!!

I come from England which is part of the United Kingdom. It is a small country and it is possible to travel around it by train. I suggest every traveler visits London, the capital city, because there is so very much to see there. I like Big Ben, the River Thames, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. A day trip that would be great from there would be leaving from the station called London Victoria to Canterbury East. Canterbury has a very beautiful cathedral and many old buildings that are lovely to see. Another day out that would be excellent would be leaving from London Charring Cross to Rye via Ashford in Kent. That is a river side town that is very picturesque. Going towards the South West I recommend the city of Bath. It has famous spa waters and lots of excellent museums. In the North of England I suggest the city of Chester with the Roman Walls. I also think York with its minster is worth visiting. The Lake District is stunning looking and is a very peaceful area. When I visited Denmark I went to Copenhagen and one day I would like to see other places like Bjornoe.

I am really pleased that you have seen the famous sights in London. A couple of year ago I took the train up North and stayed in a village called Sea Houses. I had some charming visits to a garden with a tree house, a castle overlooking the sea and the Farne Islands. Sometimes, I feel, it is worth seeing some of the smaller places. In a magazine I saw British lady had bought a house in Denmark. The coastal locality it is in looked lovely in the photos.

I have been to London a couple of times, and I have seen some of the famous sights like Tower bridge and Tower of London, but there are still a lot things that I would like to see in London and I plan on going back one day. I have never been to Bath, Chester or York, but it sounds interesting. I liked London, but I think it could be interesting to visit other parts of the country as well, because I didn't do that yet.

Hi,
The country of Indonesia is pretty big, consist of 27
provinces and I am from North Sumatera Island.
Have you ever heard of Lake toba? Yes....my hometown is
from Medan.
ALot of nice food there especially those spicy food, varieties
of local delights and also have few tourist spots.
The most famous is Brastagi,Hill park,Parapat,Pulau
Samosir, Tuk Tuk,Pantai Cermin,etc.
For me, I always been to Brastagi and Hill Park.It is nearer from
Medan and it took about 1-2hours drive from Medan. The view is
nice and I like the fresh air.
If you were to visit Brastagi, you can see plenty of vegetable and fruit farms.
So the wet market sell all mind of fresh vegetable, flower and loca
fruits.
I seldom been to Parapat,it was more far away from Medan, about 3-4 hours drive
from Medan.
Of course, different Island in Indonesia has their own tourist spots.
Especially for Bali Island. I never been there yet and not to forget the capital
city of indonesia which is Jakarta,it is a metropolitan city and you can find
lot of shopping malls, amusement park and recreation places in different part
of Jakarta.
Happy holiday!!

One of my Danish friends has been to Indonesia several times, and he has told me about his trips, I hope that I will also get the chance to visit your country one day. I have heard about Sumatra, Bali and Jakarta, but I didn't know the other places that you mentioned. The hill park and Brastagi sound interesting. I would like to taste some of the local fruits, because there are probably many that I have never seen before. I would also like to visit Jakarta and Bali.

If you are a food lover, I would recommend you go to Penang in my country which is full of varieties of cheap, good and tasty foods. But if you are tempted to go for places with nice sceneries, then maybe you could try our historical place in Melaka or maybe places with lots of caves in Ipoh. If you like to go for a beach, then you could try our Pulau Redang for a visit.

I have never eaten food from Malaysia, so that could be interesting to try. In my country there are several restaurants with Asian food. Chinese food and Thai food is pretty common, but I have never seen a Malaysian restaurant in my country. Melaka sounds interesting, I like to visit historical places. I hope that I will get the chance to visit your country one day, my dream is to travel around in Asia for a couple of months and visit many different countries.

I would probably recommend an area of Britain that is on my doorstep and that is the Forest of Bowland.
The Forest of Bowland (also known as the Bowland Fells) is in my opinion a much ignored area of our country, a second cousin to the likes of the Lake Disrict, Yorkshire Dales or the Penines, but to me it is one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of the country with all sorts of places of interest and beauty to see.
Situated mostly in the north-east of Lancashire, a small part lies in North Yorkshire. In 1964 the Forest of Bowland was designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The word 'forest' is used here in its traditional sense of 'a royal hunting ground'.
Much of the land is part of the Duchy of Lancaster so still belongs to the British Crown. In the past wild boar, deer, wolves, wild cats and game roamed the forest - now sheep, wild birds and game have taken over.
I'll now let you into a little secret ( don't tell anyone!!) The Queen has a weekend retreat in the Forest of Bowland and has even suggested she'd like to retire to the Ribble Valley. So - if it's good enough for the Queen - it's good enough for me!!

That is interesting, I didn't know that. I remember you posted a picture from your local area a while ago in one of my other discussions. It was very beautiful, and I would like to visit a place like that. When I have been to the UK I have spent most of the time in London, and there are plenty of interesting places to visit there, but I think that it could also be nice to travel around and visit some of the places outside London. It is my impression that there are a lot of other beautiful and interesting places.

Well if you were to go here in China I would recommend going to the "Great Wall" in Beijing. Though I've never been there yet, but hey! It's one of the seven wonders of the world so I guess it's worth going. I'm planning too someday. Here were I live which is Shenzhen, if you happen to visit here don't miss going to "Windows of the World" where all miniature landmarks of different countries can be found. It's like travelling the world in one day. If you love shopping there's Huaquianbei and Dongmen. Lots of good things to buy where you can haggle if the price is right.
Now if you're planning to go to the Philippines, my homeland, (well I guess you heard what happened recently there but don't be afraid cases like that happens rarely) I would recommend you going to Boracay (if you love the beach). Bohol for a wonderful sightseeing of the Chocolate Hills or going for an an adventure trip? Try climbing the Mt. Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines,or wakeboarding in Camarines Sur. There's a lot of fun things to do and places to go and the list goes on and on.

"The windows of the world" sound very interesting, I would love to see that place. Beijing and the great wall are also among the places that I hope to visit one day. I have seen many beautiful pictures from China, many years ago I had a penpal from China and he sent me a lot of nice pictures. I haven't been to China yet, but I would like to experience some of those places in person. I haven't visited the Philippines either, but here on MyLot I have read about some of the interesting and beautiful places, and there are several things that I would like to see for instanse the Chocolate hills.
