why do some blogs have twitter banner saying follow me

i saw some blogs showing follow us on twitter or facebook sites. what do you think is that for, is that to increase the number of followers in that site or just to link more sites and update their page when user of the blog update it's page

From what i can see, they would just want to increase followers :) Who doesn't right?

Originally I suppose it was intended so that the member would get update via either application of new posting to the blog.
But these days I take more members find it best to have more followers so that other content can also be marketed.
