How do your cheer yourself up when you're upset?

When I feel sad, lonely, disappointed and frustrated about the things going on in my life or with the people around me, I read the word of God and draw strength from it. I always try to keep His promise in my heart, "Do not be afraid, I am with you". I also try to see the good things that are surrounding me. I treat myself with a delicious pistacchio ice cream. I also play with my niece... her laughter simply takes my stress away. How about you? How do you cheer yourself up?

dear nica, i go out and eat, even alone. sometimes i look for a chat. but right now, i have one chat friend and always thee when i needed someone to talk to. so i eat home. hehehehehe ann

Hi tigeraunt! hehe. Yes, I think, eating (especially when we don't have to worry about our calorie intake) surely cheers us up! ^_^

You're so nice nica, a God-fearing one and God dependent. Its good for you. I also trust my life to God. That's why I ignore mostly bad things happened in my life and boost my self esteem to be happy and enjoyable to take away all stress and safe from sickness.

Thank you :) Having an intimate relationship with God makes me so excited to wake up in the morning and look forward to His sweet surprises. There's no greater joy than by being under His grace.. I'm glad to know that you trust Him as much as well.. ^_^ Thanks for your response and appreciation.

I like to take myself to a very sad movie. I will cry and cry in the movie. Somehow, this always makes me feel better. I really don't understand why. I guess a good cry is therapeutic every once in a while. I also like to have some ice cream or maybe a brownie. I also lean on my husband. I love his hugs. He is very good at cheering me up when I am sad.

Yes, I agree.. crying actually makes us feel better.. haha. But, watch out for swelling eyebags.. haha. It's a good thing that you have a husband that you can truly depend on.. ^_^

Hi, Everytime when I feel sad and frustrated,I will choose either to go for a walk or just have a sleep. AT least, I can be alone and need time to make myself up. Of course, it is fully depend on why I feel sad. If it is because I have a quarrel with my husband, I prefer to not bother him and do my own things, just pretend he is not at home. Another way to make me feel happy is playing with my son and by seeing his smile ,I feel more happy again. My son is definitely my sunshine.

When I am sad or lonely, I do listen to inspirational music to remind me that I am not alone and that God is with me.

whenever i get into this kind of situation. i normally eat very much, secondly, i go for a long walk till my body get tired. once i get tired, naturally i sleep. after i get up i will forget and move on. some time i play with kids.

I will just remind myself that how I feel is a choice I make. I choose my feelings. If I don't want to be sad I will choose another feeling...it's always up to me. Sometimes it's hard and we are only human but only someone with a mental illness will constantly choose to feel miserable or like they are a victim and so on.

I try to just take my mind of the problem. It's not very easy but my wife, children and parents are very much there for me and when I do feel side which can be quite often as I suffer from depression someone gives me a huge lift. I really hope I can have the same effect on my kids when they're older, I hate seeing them upset and when there's a way I will. Listening to music also helps.

When I'm upset, I try to look for something that I could be busy of; like gardening, cleaning the house or fixing and arranging furniture. But for me the best is playing and caring for my puppy and cats.

By simply doing "something" anything related to work or listen to the radio waiting for my favorite soundtrack, watch good movies that make me laugh. I mean really, really funny and ease myself from loneliness and think past experience and memories that I enjoy most.

I think children's laughter is the best method to me cheer me up ! they are simply, and i like to play with my niece too. she is nearly two years old now. she is very bright ans always simulated your behaviors .

That is good. When you draw your strength from spiritual guidance, nothing will equal elation that you feel from it. I do too, especially when I'm deep in thought. For light upsets, I play with my pets and indulge in desserts. When I'm out of home, I love to walk just to keep myself from thinking of my problems.

i calm myself first because when i get too upset i have the tendency to say things i don't really mean and end up regretting having said them. i sleep and not think much about it. i will talk to the person when everything is clear in my head and i don't feel so bad talking about whatever it is that made me upset anymore. lately i have this new thing that i do when i get the bad temper. i just do a letter to the person who got me upset but i won't give it. it's just to channel my emotions. then i will ask my sister to stay with me because she never fails to make laugh. we will watch comedy movies together, laugh till we get tired and just sleep the night away. next day i'm feeling better :)

It always depend of what made me upset... But generally I put music way too loud, I play my guitar, write music or lyrics, draw... And some creative things come out when im down or upset.

when I get upset, I like to be alone, so I can think carefully what's wrong with me and find a way to fix it. Sometimes I get upset for no reason, so I just try to watch some funny movies but it doesn't help, I can't even laugh at the funniest scene. Anyway, after a good sleeping, when I wake up, I'll feel better
