Yes, I think text books are all expensive, many student do not have enough money to buy the text book, so what they do is to photocopy it even though they know that it is illegal, but what to do, they can't effort to but the expensive text books. When I was a student, I faced the same problem as well, I will try my best to buy 2nd hand text book if not I will borrow from some one else, and the final one I will go for the photocopy text books.

In our school, we don't buy textbooks. Because the tuition is expensive, we the students requested to photocopy a topic on which we are going to discuss, textbooks has a lot of pictures that sometimes not part of our discussion. I am an IT student, I always use the internet to study because not all information are on the textbook.

Some of the textbooks are at a reasonable price. However, the problem is that all textbooks do not have the quality that fits the cost of the textbooks. There have been some textbooks in the past that were poorly put together, all over the place, and not clear and concise. Not to mention it just had a bunch of facts, with little elaboration. Yet, they cost the same amount of money. I have never really faced the problem of having enough money. However, that is because I have had financial aid, so that helps pay for the textbooks quite a bit. Without that fact in place, I would not be able to get everything paid in a quick and logical manner. Still, there are times where I think the textbooks that I have bought is pretty much are not a good deal.

Today more than ever it is critical for young generations to attend college and receive a degree in order to be successful. However, rising prices in tuition and other expenses have put substantial financial strain on parents trying to pay for the constantly increasing costs of college. It puts even more strain on students who will be forced to pay back enormous student loans once they graduate. I think one of the expensive expenses that a student will face is that of college textbooks.

Here our government provides free textbooks in the primary school. But even if you buy them, it's not expensive. It is cheaper than the normal books. Except for the breakfast, lunch and the sleeping charges, I don't have to pay other fees in the school for my son now. I think it is good that the textbooks are free. But actually even if it seems it is free to go to the primary school, however, sometimes if you want to go to a better primary school, the charge will be quite expensive. So I do think that our education needs to have a revolutionary. I love China

The textbooks are also free for grade 1-3 in high school. And the textbooks for grade 4-6 in high school and university are not free, but this cost includes in the tuition fee already.

I find them too expensive really.. I hate it when our teachers would really force us to buy one and they have to add points to those who will buy the textbooks. When i was in college what i do to be able to keep up with the discussions is borrow books and read it in advance or write down notes so that i won't be left behind, it's a bit hard but its much harder to look for money to buy books. Although i can say now that i regretted not buying the textbooks they are somehow important for my major major exams..

if it was the textbook we used in college time i would say the real price is absolutely expensive.if it the textbook we use in our school days i would consider it as cheap compared to the upper level textbook.they are much expensive as we need to buy imported books.but our lecturers are so smart as they can get cheaper price for us.i would say it was a reasonable price by the way.

Hi, luukimlong. Like you said I think the books are all expensive. I am studying electronics and communication engineering. All my books cost more than 300Rs. Every my sister who is studying in 12th standard also have books costing that much. For a person from an average family like me, it is too much. I also enjoy reading other books. But the cost of the books is preventing me from buying the books I love. I wish I could do something about it.

Haha, really, what you can do about it. I think it's hard to solve the problem because it will affect many things arround. The cost for all materials are too high, not only books, so the way to solve it also different to us; so I think if we can copy or use the old books, it will be quite good to the avg students or poor students. It's just my opinon. Have a nice day!

I think it depends on how the country price its textbooks and what educational level a person is at. The only thing that I can remember is, college books are expensive especially medical related books. There are ways to save up money though, like buying from those who are already done using them, of course it should still look good or just borrow from the library or from someone you know. I've been through this, and my mom bought books from the upperclassmen who were selling them during my highschool days, except for the workbooks. And well, we just have to buy the books I needed during college since they are the type that you'll use through life/college life and my sister would use it after me. We go to the store that gives our university discounts for buying books from there.

Yes! My textbooks are very expensive. They range anyway from $20 to $200! This semester I paid $450 on textbooks. That doesn't even include school tuition. It is crazy expensive! :(

Really, I think it's a big problem for students. How can they pay that much just for textbooks. I am affair when heard about the cost of your textbooks, it's so crazy in my opinion. What we will do after we finish our course, it don't think we will review what we learned from the textbooks. I can imagine how much we will pay in the future textbooks.

I think it's really crazy how expensive books are for college! And then every year they new editions of books are coming out which means that the old editions aren't acceptable any more and if you try to sell those old editions you won't get anything for them. I think that books shouldn't be expensive because as students we are already paying a whole bunch of money to actually go to college. Getting these books for class is just another added stress. Since I'm majoring in English with a concentration in Language and Literature most of my books I can find in the library which saves me a lot of money. But there are times when I can't find certain books and I have to buy them. The most expensive one that I bought for this semester was $78! And then If I sell it back I'll probably get less than ten dollars which is just so stupid.

Yes, I do agree that textbooks are too expensive. Back when I was in primary and secondary school, textbooks always cost a bomb so I normally try to use hand-me-down textbooks from my elder brother if I can and only buy those that have a new syllabus. I always envy those students that can get free textbooks loan from school because they don't have to pay anything and they get to borrow textbooks for free from the school. They get them free because their parents are in the low income group, and hence are eligible for the textbooks loan. Fast forward to college and university, textbooks are no longer compulsory, so I only buy those textbooks that are extremely necessary to get me through the course. I normally just depend on the lecture notes provided by the lecturers and that was actually sufficient to help me pass my subjects. All in all, I really do think that textbooks should be made cheaper so that students and parents can afford to buy them; but at the same time, I do understand costs of printing textbooks are not that cheap too......oh well, there are pros and cons to everything.....

Yeah the cost of text books for college or university is really high.It is hard on students to afford all this along with tuition and rent and food and other expenses.I had to pay around 600 dollars for one semastar for books alone. Some text books cost around a hundred dollars each and this is a lot for a text book.I think that stuents should be wise when it comes to books as you can be them used for half price from former students.

Funny this question came up. I was just complaining about how much my books cost for this term. Two of them were used and the rest were new. I can't even resell my other books because the ones used for this term are new ones. I spent $520 on all my books for this term, and I bet I wont even used them all. So in answer to your question yes I think books are ridiculous
