I have a long straight black hair and to tell you the truth.. i am bored of how i look. I wanted to make some changes on my image and my whole appearance. Now, i am confused how to start and what to start.
Should i put color on my hair? or perming would be better for it would bring an awesome change.
I just don't know what to do and where to begin.

I think that I would go to a salon and see what they might recommend. If your hair is black, I assume that you have an olive or dark skinned complexion and it might be difficult to find a hair color that would look good with your skin. I would probably opt for the perm if you don't want to have a hairdresser make recommendations.

I wouldn't get a perm. If you have really straight hair, a perm won't hold long, even one given by a professional. I would recommend a different cut for your hair, not coloring it or trying to perm it. With really straight hair, you can pick a cool cut, and it will stand out. I have naturally curly hair. When I'd get a cool cut, no one could tell the style because curly hair doesn't really distinguish the cut. If you DO decided to color your hair, I'd recommend getting highlights, not a completely different coloring.

I agree with ambiepam....straight won't hold a perm, black may be hard to look just right - I know there are professional dyes at the salon that wash out in 6 weeks. I'm pretty sure Redkin has them. Try something first before you go the peroxide road. Whatever you put on your hair will stand out and may not blend because you don't have red tones or blonde tones - be careful..thankfully, hair always grows back. If I had the space I'd tell you a story about my Elvira look and the red splotches I had for 3 months because I tried to fix it - instead of a hairdresser - too funny.

hi tess if your hair is black it may be hard to find another hair color that would look good with your complexion. if you are very fair it would be easier but if you have more olive color to your skin changing hair color would be a lot harder. I think I would opt instead to have a light perm or to look at pi ctures in a beatuy parlor to see what hair styles go with black hair and your particular skin tones. a hair dresser might be the way to go to get some ideas on hair changes or curling changes and how you would loo.

If you have black hair you may have problems if you buy a home hair dye kit. My advice to you would be to go to a salon and get a colourist to do a test on your hair to check that it would colour well and of course what colours would suit your complextion. To see what a perm looks like why not just make some temporary curls with some heated rollers or another curling tool to see what it would look like.

Hello ;) I am a hairdresser and i want to give you a answer.
If i've a client with long black hair i will give advice, if she want to be with total change, to cut a tapered feature/i dont know how to say it/ , which is quite recent in time.
For color you dont have a choice. If you colored your hair black you only can make a tuft/cluser/ in blond. But looks will be good only if the hair is natural black. If not it will be orange :)I do not recommend!
So.. ask if you need some answer about your hair until you decide :)
