Ear Infections in Dogs with floppy ears

Does anyone have this chronic problem? I have a 10 year old Lab/new-fie mix and she has been getting ear infections for years. Her ears are floppy which prevents air from getting into the ears to help keep them dry. The Vet has told me to keep them clean, which by now is a chore because every time she sees me coming with the solution she runs and hides. Its actually quite funny to see me chase this big black gentle dog around the house to try and clean her ears. Anyway, has anyone had this same problem? I found a great solution that I purchased online that helps keep the ears dry but I usually have to use it weekly and it has become a costly endeavor which I don't mind especially since I don't want to see her in any discomfort. If anyone has come across a similar situation and has found an easier solution I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks in advance

That brings back memories - Had a Beagle collie mix - she was chronically ill with allergies of all sorts for 15 yrs. Always ear infections...we just did what we needed to. Got the medicine, tried to keep her ears as clean as possible with wash ( boy, she gave us a hard time) in the end, the last year of her 15 yrs. we just had get cortizone shots every 8 weeks - she wasn't 10 and I wouldn't recommend steroids for a 10 yr. old dog. Do what you can and that's about it...

One best solution is to consult the vet.The vet can help you with your problem. When ear infection occurs in dog, they feel uncomfortable for that. Also the best solution is to clean your dog ears also.At first your dog will not like it,but if the dog used to it,it will be easier for you to do that.Just be patient.

I have hound ears to tend. Teh Vet gave me meds when they get bad, but I have found that if I use cotten tips and just clean the outside channels very gently so that the wax is removed and the ear kept dry keeps infectioon for getting a hold.
Sadie likes getting her ears cleaned she gets a small treat after each treatment.
HOW ABOUT THAT A TREAT FOR A TREATMENT.

I have a friend who's dog had a severe ear infection. The dog's name was Max, he was a Standard Poodle.
So called 'vets' treated him for his ear infection without running any medical tests. And the ear infection became more severe each day, despite the costly treatments. The struggled to get rid of that infection for almost 7 months.
In the end, my friend found a vet who took some samples from Max's ears and run some tests. She found out what were the antibiotics that can kill the ear mites that lived in Max's ears. After 10 days of correct treatment, Max's ears were clean and healthy.
Did your vet run any tests to find out the correct treatment for your dog's problem?
