responding to discussions

How do you choose which discussions to respond to? For me, I usually go for discussions with zero or few responses yet. I don't know why, but, I hate repeating what others have said already! Unless, of course I'm really interested in the topic, or have something else to say. Sometimes, I also look at discussions starte by the new members and try welcoming them to the Lot. How about you?

I usually responded to a discussion I want to put my piece of mind in. That's all, I don't pay attention to numbers of responses I just filling in my mind is all I care!

That's why we love MyLot! We want to share what we think about those in the discussion.

I respond to discussions in which I know i can elaborate... Not just one or two liner sentences... Of course that means it depends to the topic if I am interested... I don't look if it's either has zero or a few or many responses...

Yep, that's why we specify our interests to MyLot, so we could be notified of topics we are interested in. One or two liners don't fit me, too, because I want to say a looot of things. The thing for me is, when there are many responses, I read all of them (it's actually in the guidelines) and takes up much time. So I often look at the number of responses.

I look for the discussions that is very interesting to me, or discussions with questions about computers and routers. I also visit discussions without responses and that's what I do here everyday.

There are a lot of discussions about computers and routers. So, I guess I'll find you in them . As to questions without responses, sometimes I feel the thrill of being the first to answer! Sometimes, though, there are others who are answering the same discussion, and when I hit the post comment button, I come in as 2nd or even 3rd! Well, I'm not that fast in typing, and usually, I leave loooong posts!

Well so long as the notifiers are working I receive all my friends discussions through my email, what I do is go down the list and read my favorite mylotter discussions first. When it's an interesting discussion that I feel that I may be able to contribute too I then go to the discussion and read all the responses adding my 2 cent worth where appropriate. Sometimes when I get there and many mylotters have already responded and said pretty much what I would have said, I may leave a comment in someone else's response box or skip entirely. After going through my favorite mylotters discussions I then start going through all the other discussions in my email. Since my internet has had problems all month and school started I have a ton of discussions in my email that I'm slowly reading through. For me to respond to a discussion I must have something to contribute to it, I must know something about the subject, and that the starter is one that participates in his/her discussions. If it is a mylotter that doesn't respond to his/her discussions unless it's a subject I feel strongly about I skip. Since mylot is a discussion site, I can't have a discussion with myself, well I could but that's an entirely different discussion.

Yeah, I remember there are the notifiers. In my case, sometimes I fail to read these because there are a lot of other mails to open. And usually, when I get back to them, the discussions would already be full of comments, and unless I'm really interested, I don't comment anymore. Yes, some lotters do not realize that we are "graded" based on the content of our posts, so some post one-liners or forbidden posts. And, right, I hate those who start discussions who do not reply to the comments they receive. Maybe they don't get how this site works! Thanks for the response. Happy day!

I do that sometimes.. I usually just go for whatever strikes my fancy and if I think i have something to add to the discussion. It has to be a discussion with a little substance . some of those one liners areen't worth it.. and some of those newbies will never respond back so I don't always go for them first- because not getting responses is a pet peeve of mine.. lol

Yeah, I also hate not getting responses. Like I got snubbed or something. And, yes, the oneliners. I've gotten a lot of notices from MyLot that my answer has been deleted because the question was deleted! What a waste! Thanks for your response. Pleasant day ahead!

I go through the discussions and determine if I have something viable to respond with, regardless if it zero or countless responses. I do try to read all the responses so that I do not repeat the comments. If I find my comment is a repeat then I will not respond as nothing I could respond with would be of value. I do find as the days go by that too many discussions are being repeated.

I think a lot of us are guilty of not reading the guidelines. Like, when starting a discussion, make a search for similar discussions first because it may have already been started as a discussion. Guilty! Pleasant day ahead!

I respond to discussions with no responds yet or are just newly posted just like what you do..and sometimes i do respond to those with no comments yet. Well that depends also if im interested with the topic. If i have nothing to comment on a certain topic then i will not be posting non sense to it.

Yup, the content of our answers matters a lot, so posting non-sense to discussions is a futile activity, unless your reason for doing so is only to vex that other person, which is totally bad, don't you think? Or, some people are just plain weirdos or maybe, (to give a more subtle word) just a little misunderstood

Well, yeah, that is why MyLot wants to know what our interests are, so we can be alerted when a new discussion about are interests are posted. 100 responses? That's some discussion!

Yeah, sometimes I also don't have the patience to read all the responses, so I just go for discussions with a few responses.
