What do you think is the best time/season to travel?

Would you like to travel or plan a vacation during summers, Or during peak seasons when almost everyone else is also having their vacations? Are you more of a weekend getaway type of person or would you rather go on long vacation and really get to see the place, know its culture, know the people and enjoy everything it has to offer?

I would prefer a long vacation because I think you would see more of the area and learn more about the area when you have more time. I would like to not only see sites but would like to see some shows, try the food, experience any parades, festivals or celebrations of the area. It would be nice as well to meet some of the local people. Although, I do like a weekend get aways as well now and then. I would prefer to travel at a time that wasn't the peak season just simply because it would be easier, smaller wait times and such.

We're kind of in the same boat here. Weekend trips are breathers and long vacations are just delightful & wonderful...be able to see the place and yeah get to meet the locals and explore the beauty of its culture. But I seem not quite up to my budget yet, specially the time! I have a country in mind that I really long to explore but I don't have any friends/relatives there yet! Guess I'll just have to really try to maximize a week there...

Yes, that is the best way to go if you have friends or relatives there you could maybe stay with them at least part of the time. One of my friends does just that, her hubby was in the army and had been stationed all over the place and they have made many friends all over the world. So these couples, all allow the others to visit for a week or two out of the year, so they get to go every year if they want and only pay airfare and expensives. There are some countries that I would like to see but are a bit out of reach yet to me, as well. But someday, I plan to get there one way or another

Well that's really one of the perks if you get to travel due to work, since you get to know the locals too and you create friendships along the way. That's really nice! :) But I can only imagine how it is like being an army's wife. Well, guess you'll really just enjoy what life has to offer :)

For me I think during summer, it's nice to travel it because you can bond your family. Because this season children have no classes already so that's why you can bond your whole family. And you can go any places around the world or in the beach just to have fun during summer season.:-)

I live in Europe and the time of year that is best to visit is late spring or early summer. Another lovely time is from late summer to early autumn. It can get busy in the middle of the summer. I traveled to Canada this year and went in the early summer. Then I avoided the high air fares and got fairly sunny weather. Last year I visited South Africa and I went there in their summer time which was in my winter time. I was there in January and it would be cold there in June which was when it is ideal in Canada. I went to New Zealand in their summer time and it was winter in my home country. When I traveled around the world for over one year I didn't have the ideal time of year in all the destinations I went to. Autumn in Sydney was 30 degrees C so that made me feel really happy.
Generally I like to avoid the peak season but still have some lovely weather. In my younger days I could spend months away traveling but now I have young children I travel for two to three weeks. I have two dogs that my mom looks after when I go off traveling. I love to meet the local people and get to know their culture. I don't think a weekend away gives me enough time to see a place. I am an independent traveler and I have visited more than fifty different countries.

I think the best time to travel is summer. It's just so nice to travel and go to cool places during this time. And this will be the best time to bond with the whole family because the children don't have classes, they won't have to be absent in school just to go travel with the whole family. Going to beach and exploring the whole place and it's culture is a perfect way to have fun and travel.

Yes, i do agree that summers can really be a good time to spend some time with everyone in the family. We've done this before & it's really nice, fun & meaningful! We do these specially on weekends and go sort of camp out in the beach. But what we haven't tried to go is to really go farther from the shores from where we're living. Just a bit expensive to get everyone on plane! IT's a good thing we get to have nice beaches from where we are. And yet there;s really more that we want to see! MAybe someday soon :)
