A Reader or a Noter

I am intrigued by the numbers of people that blog in the World. Do they do it for some kind of vanity or is it because they just need to write and blogging is one way of doing it. Save paper etc and places all your thoughts in one place. If you blog, why? If you don't; do you ever read blogs, even when they are referred to you or is it just too much trouble.

I like to share my family stories. Problem is, I can't get to any of the sites I blog on during the day any more, so I don't have much time to read other people's blogs. I enjoy them though. Which reminds me, I still have to go back and read the one you e-mailed to me last week.

I read carries blog regularily i like that type of blog thats done in a unique humourous way (shes super funny) but i'm not keen on the whole 5 minutes of fame type ones where they tell you every detail of their life i've enough of facebook for that some people share absolutely everything with the world. I like to write and find it very theraputic and it's helped me grow as a person and learn alot about myself but i write for me not for other people. It's been suggested to me a few times that i have a good voice and would be a successful blogger but i don't have the time or patience to keep up with it. Nor do i relly think people would be interested. i haven't done great things i'm just a normal person going through normal stuff so i can't see anyone wanting to read about it lol Still need to check out yours sweet hows it going?

*Waves* Hello, I'm Queen of DoryWorld on my blogs. ;) I started doing it, purely as somewhere to put my thoughts, I'm not very good at writing down what I'm thinking (in books etc), because my thoughts are quicker than my hands, however on the computer, my hands and thoughts come at the same speed, so that works very well. Now, I have lots of friends who are interested in what I say, even when I'm just jabbering a load of codswallop, which I think is wonderful. I'm interested in people in general, I like to find out about them and I like to know what they're doing, purely because I'm nosey. ;) Some of my blogs are just for fun, some are more serious, depending on my mood. I would normally read someone elses blog, as long as I don't have to sign up to a new blogging site, I'm already signed up to quite a few sites, so don't really want to sign up to more. I don't really like 'story' blogs, I prefer real life ones. I will read friends story blogs if they'd like me to, my friends really appreciate it, if I tell them I've read the whole thing, as most of them understand how easily distracted I am. I'm actually off to blog now. ;)

I don't blog and rarely read blogs. There just aren't that many blogs that interest me--when I'm looking for information I want facts, not opinions, and while I know that some blogs do offer info I prefer hard research. When I read for entertainment I prefer books. Right now I'm reading "The Lost Symbol", the latest by Dan Brown. I'm not tied to the computer with a book and can read anywhere in the house that pleases me. I don't blog mainly because there is no time and I doubt if very many people would find my thoughts interesting enough to spend time reading. My thoughts are mainly about saving money, preparing for the unexpected and thinking about my children!

Yes, Brown sticks to a formula but this new one has new puzzles and twists so I am really enjoying it! Once a writer finds a winning formula they tend to just change names, locations and some details in subsequent books. I'm ordering a couple on Amazon today. It's rare for my to buy books, I usually go to the library, but I want two action adventure mystery books by Michael Walsh that the library doesn't have and has no plans to get. Then I'll send them to my son because we both like that type of book. I don't think I'll ever get a reader, I enjoy holding a book, turning the pages and the unique scent of a book. What I really love is the scent of a very, very old book whose pages are turning brittle--I don't know why, but that's one of the nicest scents in the world to me.

I think about those things as well. Are you enjoying the Lost Symbol. I find that Dan Brown writes the same book over and over again. But I'd sooner read a proper book than an "E Book" that are becoming increasingly popular.

i agree i've very happy to use the computer to shop and pay bills and speak to friends etc etc and I have read stories online but theres something about owning the book and the feel of turning the pages that i would miss reading it in electronic format. Like you said being able to take it with you round the house and curl up on a comfy chair or bed and get lost in it. I like to be able to touch and feel the pages while i get engrossed in the story.

That's a very good question. I know why I do it, but I would like to know why other people do it. For me, it's a way of getting my thoughts somewhere! When I was younger I used to fill notebooks with things that were going on in my life, my ideas on things, and frustrations! It wasn't for anybody else to read (god forbid!!), just a way for me to organise my thoughts I suppose, and it also sometimes reduced the burden of my stresses in some way, a bit like I'd talked to someone about them - without actually having to talk to anyone, lol! Very therapeutic. So writing became a bit of a habit and a hobby. And I still enjoy it. These days I do it for fun, mainly on hubpages now. It also still helps me vent about subjects that annoy me. And writing there has the additional benefit (over writing in my notebook), that there usually plenty of like-minded people who get what I'm saying, and I can connect with them. I also really like to use my writing to share knowledge that I've picked up about things and maybe help other people to figure things out. Of course another reason to blog (or hub) is to earn a bit of money. I think most people find that this is actually harder than it looks, at least this has been my experience. But loving to write and my need to get things out of my head and onto paper (or my computer screen) is the main reason why I do it anyway. So, I think you pretty much covered my answer in your question. I do sometimes read other people's blogs, but there are only a couple that I go back to and read regularly.

Very well said. Writing is a good mental exercise and I think it can help one sort through thoughts and clear the mind.

My sister was a great diarist and judo exponent. I remember reading the former and experiencing the latter when she found out! LOL. I write my blog simply because others asked me to. But when I subtract my own page viewing I have to wonder sometimes why I went to all the effort. However, I know that there are people that just HAVE to write. I like to write down difficult issues as I somehow grasp them better that way. But it does allow a sensible mind clearing exercise.

Hi P1key, I don't write blog a lot, once in a blue moon, I think, well I do read others blogs but it has to be of some interests to me, otherwise some peoples' blog might be a bit boring, so it just depends. Hugs. Tamara xxxx

I do not blog and I only read blogs if I respect the blogger's opinion on a particular subject. Other than that I do not single out or search for blogs.

I just don't get blogging. I've always kept a diary, mostly for remembering dates and times of appointments and for referring back to. Sometimes it becomes a bit personal, it was more personal when I was younger. But it beats me why anyone would want to read or even follow someone else's blog. I've made several attempts to have a blog and I have forgotten all about it almost as soon as I started and when I have left the entries there for all and sundry to read it looks as though no-one has read it. Am I that dull and boring? Or am I just unpopular? Or am I missing some pertinent information regarding successful blogging?? Don't answer those first two questions please.

I am more of writing/reading than speaking/listening I find that when I write, people understand, but when I speak, people don't get it and they don't listen either but the latter is just humans isn't it so yes I do write blogs, although nothing too detailed and personal in it those ones I write in my diary I also read, blogs/ books etc but most of the time it took me longer to read than to write, so if I could, I would avoid thick books and long blog posts

I do it because I want to. My blog has become my replacement journal; it is the place where I write what I feel and gives me a place to pour out my thoughts and my emotions. It is also the place where I can tell friends what I've been doing, discuss the reasons behind some of my life's decisions and analyse myself. I also follow other people's blogs. They offer me a way to keep in touch with friends, to know what's happening in their lives, and to gain information if I need to.

I don't blog, to me it's like having a public diary. Although there are a few times when I'm tempted to create one...so far I haven't been motivated to do so. Once in a while I do read them, usually if I'm looking for information about something. I do have one friend who is a writer, and he has a blog/story going most of the time. Other than that, I don't spend a lot of time reading other people's blogs. More of a time constraint than lack of interest. If I spend any more time online than I do now, I'm afraid that I'll turn into a marshmallow. Of course, hot chocolate season is coming....lol

I just started a blog about a week ago. I really did it because of all the raw emotions I am going through. I want to help others be able to work through their own emotions and find faith. My intent was to help others...
