Cups, Tampons or Pads?

What is your chosen menstrual aid, and if I may ask, why? I started off with pads, turned to tampons several years ago for two cycles and then finally switched to menstrual cups. Since then, I have never looked back. I love my cup because it's easy to wear, long-lasting and easy to clean. What about you?

As most women do I started out with the pads, then one day friends informed me that tampons was the way to go. So I tried and can I say I have never returned to the pads ever again. I am sorry that I do not know what the cup is, I have never heard of this. Maybe you explain to me what this is as truly I have never heard of this method.

Oh wow you are some informative. I always say I learn something new here on myLot daily. Thanks myLot friend I am going to do just that, I will educate myself in this area as it sounds safer than the tampons as well. I will be heading over to the net as this something so new to me. Thank you and have a great weekend.

YAY! I'm always glad to spread the word about cups. :) I'd recommend checking out the community before you buy a cup though, as each cup is made differently (even if they are of the same materials) so some cups may not fit you as well as others. :)

Hi hardworkinggurl and naokokensaku! I agree with hwgurl, you are quite well informed on this topic you've made. :) I only use pads. I've never tried tampons and cups maybe because both aren't easily available in the supermarket. :) Tampons sound scary to me, I wouldn't try it still I think if it were readily available to me. The cup sounds an interesting invention! I learned something new today too. That makes us two hwgurl. :) I will search more about it after this post. I will try to ask if its available here in our country. Thanks for the info.

Pads, mostly. I was afraid of tampons until I got to college. I can only use them on certain days in my cycle or else it is too uncomfortable. I only really use them on gym days, actually. I'll admit that the idea of cups just freaks me out a little too much to use.

May I know why do cups freak you out? I'm quite curious as to why people seem scared of cups.

I've used napkins for so many years and I haven't tried tampons or cups yet.

I started off with pads and are still using them. I just found out about the menstrual cups, and nother reason why I won't get em is because they're like tampons, and it's hard to insert them to me since .. err you know. So pads all the way. Eventhough stains come every now and then xD

Ah, I completely understand that. If you're worried about breaking your hymen using a menstrual cup, I don't think you need to worry. There's a virgin's guide to using a menstrual cup that I can send to you if you're interested. On another note, what brand disposables do you use?

I use pads the local brands in the Philippines inlcuding imported brands like Whisper and Kotex. I've use tampons once in a blue moon coz it's hardly available in my city and if it is, I feel uncomfortable to use it. Never heard of cups an don't think it's available here.
