Usually how much time do you spend on preparing for one meal?

Hi, there. :) If you take cooking as an enjoyable thing, you would like to cook for yourself and your love. I wish I can cook every day, but I cannot, since right now I stay at my college and only at weekends I get the time to cook. Usually, I spend one hour on cooking for one meal. Two or three simple dishes are enough for me and my roommate. How about you? Will you spend a lot of time on cooking for just one meal?

Good day to you banban, With reference to your query, I always budget my time in cooking. Since I dont want to spend a lot of time on this chore. Usually, I will just spend an hour for the preparation of the ingredients and at the same time to cook the food. In our flat, me and bestfriend usually prepare two types of food. A food combination that compliments to each other. Such as fish and vegetables.

:) It sounds great. Foods that are simple, but full of nutritions are good.

Hi, Talking about cooking..Yes, I cook everyday, from breakfast to dinner for my family. Actually it is fully depend on what kind of dishes I am going to prepare,if more complicated one,of course, it may need more time for preparation, sometimes, It can even take 1-2 hours just to prepare the ingredients needed. However, I always choose to cook something simple for my family. and I need about one hour to get ready all the ingredient for 3 course meals. For dinner, I always have 1 soup, 1 vegetable and 1 meat/fish. Pretty simple dishes but they are healthy food for my family. We hardly dine out, only during special occasion then we will dine out.

Hi, shia. Thanks for your reply. Yeah, it depends on what kind of dishes you're going to cook. :)

It depends on the dish that I am cooking sometimes it really took me so long to prepare because of the cutting the food and other ingredients. I've already experienced preparing for 5 hours already and that is the time of being a first time to prepare a fish with ground pork. But usually it took me 1 hour to prepare and the fastest was 30 minutes or even 20 minutes.

It all depends really on what I am cooking and what type of mood I am in. I do love to cook and I suppose on average I spend about an hour cooking a meal - sometimes more sometimes less!! I do find it very theraputic though and spend quite a lot of time baking bread and cakes

I wish I could cook everyday for myself, but since I'm very busy and tired most of the time, I eat out most of the time. But when I get a chance to cook, of course I never wanted to miss it. I always like cooking a simple delicious meal for myself and it usually takes me about half an hour or so. But if I was cooking for some other people too and myself of course, it will takes me about an hour or more including the preparation.

I love cooking and I am eating at least 4-5 meals per day so it was always hard for me not to cook. But when I have lot of work there is not time for me to do much cooking so I choose to make fast meals with simple ingredients and eat lot of fruits, boiled eggs, chestnuts and other seeds, and sometimes eat out. I wouldn't cook just for one meal.

4-5 meals per day? That seems a lot.

To be honest I call myself a 30 minute cook, anything I cook takes about 30 minutes of work. It may take longer to actually cook when put in the oven but the prep work takes no more than 30 minutes. It's strange because I enjoy cooking but I just don't have the free time to spend an hour or more cooking.

That would depend on the number of food that I am preparing and how long will it take for one to cook. I can take up to an hour to prepare three type of dishes and cook them if the dishes won't take too much time to cook. Frying is easy, so does boiling. Steaming can take time a bit. I also tend to cook soup for around an hour or so as I slow boil them.

I am the cook of my family I finish cooking breakfast and lunch in the morning itself. I complete within 2 hrs. I have to pack boxes for my kids and husband, so the meals are simple and less fussy. During dinner time I try to make diff kinds of dishes which generally takes 1 to 1 1/2 hrs.

Usually no. I work full time and also have a lot of other things to do, so most of the time I simply do not have the time for cooking. So on average, I would say that I spend 15-20 minutes on a meal, but of course I do cook more complicated stuff from time to time too, especially on the weekends and on holidays, for instance.

I usually spend a little less than an hour to prepare a meal, especially because I like assorted vegetables in it. However, I can prepare 10-15 min meals especially for breakfast. But, I do enjoy preparing gourmet meals taking up about 1-2 hours of preparation. All for the love of it!

I am a bachelor and I stay alone. Daily I have food ordered from the restaurant but usually I love to cook on weekends. For one meal which includes 3 to 4 dishes, I take max an hour to make it. I enjoy cooking, the only part I don't like in it is "washing the dishes after the mail"...lol

I am so not a cook. There is nothing that I find enjoyable about it at all unfortunately. I usually find myself doing all of the cooking for the week on Sundays and then I just freeze them into individual meals. So for me cooking one meal means popping it into the microwave for 5 minutes or so. On Sundays, thoguh when I do my serious cooking, I spend two or three hours between prepping and cooking.

A simple meal for me requires a half-hour minimum time. But for a few dishes and complete meal, I need a one hour minimum, sometimes excluding prep time.

I never prepared my food. Because I live with my parents. So my mom always prepared food. And they take one hour for preparing food daily. But when everybody is not at home then I prepared food for myself. And I take 2 hours for preparing food. Because I am not habitual in preparing food so I take long time.

I have a very busy schedule but cooking is not on the list. But if I cook, I think an hour will do. Depends also on what dish or occasion. But for regular meal, an hour is fine.
