I like a particular dip for tortillas that is a cheese, hamburger, and sausage combination. It just melts together in a crockpot and makes for an awesome dip. It has got to be the best dip I have ever had. There are a lot of dips that you can get premade in the stores but I would rather have the stuff you make at home. So what's you favorite dip? Is it made at home or bought in a store? Do you have a particular combination of chips and dip that you go for?

Good morning Jen, homemade anything is better than what u can buy i think. I love the dip u are talking about to. It is very good. I also like spinach dip w/hawaiian bread. I don't make much dip anymore just for me but u have made me hungry for the cheese & hamburger one, Hope u have a great sunday.

My b/f made me that spinach dip with sweet hawaiian bread a couple of times and it is great. I like it almost as much as the cheese and hamburger one. I agree that homemade is often better than anything processed and packaged. Hope your Sunday is great too. Is Ryan visiting today?

I like the stuff you make at home too. It is much better. I can add more of one thing and put in less of another that way. And the mass produced stuff has more additives and lard in it that I really don't care for. And it tends to have a after taste. Ugh! I try not to eat too much of it anyway.

Oh yes..there is the wonderful option of "tweaking" the recipe. I know that if you like a spicier dip, there are hotter sausage choices where mine is concerned. Those store bought ones do have an artificial type flavor to them and it's funny how it's not noticiable until you have it homemade. Thanks for the response.

My all time favorite dip is onion dip. To make it you just need sour cream and a Lipton onion soup packet. You add them together and stir. I think that it is the best with either lays or fritos.

If it's Mojo chips I'm eating, I would go for a sour cream and onion dip, restaurant style. Or a mix of mayonnaise and ketchup, made from home. Those stuff matches well with my taste buds. I'm craving for them right now.

You're welcome!
I would like to add more, if I see a bag of nacho or Mexican corn chips at the cupboard, I would make a cheesy salsa dip that starts with melting the cheese on a small pan and just drop a spoonful of Mexican salsa (Tostitos) in the middle.

I like hot chili-cheese dip. My son LOVES the stuff and will make it every chance he gets. He lives alone so he doesn't make it at his home but, if I let him know I have the ingredients here, he won't hesitate to mix up a batch whenever he's visiting.
I'm partial to the old standby for chips: onion dip. I prefer to make it myself over buying it ready-made. I'm not sure why, maybe it's the consistency or something.
Now you have me wanting chips and dip.

I have several dips I use, just good old sour cream and dried onion soup mix makes a good one, I add a little horse radish to this. Then there is Velveta cheese and salsa melted together. These to are old standbys and so easy.

Being from the home of the world's best green and red chile, I love fresh green chili, tomatoes, garlic and cheese dip and home-made chips. But then I love anything with "HOT" green or red chile. I just bought 40 pounds of roasted green chile and put it up in the freezer. Yesterday, I made enchiladas with my new "HOT" green chile and they were great!

I like a dip with barbeque flavor, you know kind of like the spice. And just plain, unflavored potato chips with that. Sooo yummy!

Hey....Jen, it's me...your Canuck friend!
First, let me respond to your discussion! ONLY...AND EVER, home-made dips..and especially right now, tomatoes, cukes, garlic, peppers ALL fresh from the garden!
Absolute favourite...Tzakiki--fresh cukes, garlic, a splash of lime & worchestershire in plain yogurt...great on everything including a slice of fresh home=made rosemary sourdough! A load of tomatilloes right now, and the fridge is full of "salsa verde" which is great on fish, chicken...noodles or with chips of any kind. It's just tomatilloes, garlic, hot peppers & onion, plus a splash of lime! Also, lot's of tomato salsa! Which I can, for later indulgence! I can honestly say...I don't think I have ever bought a dip, to me they taste so artificial.
My two year old computer packed up...just as my property taxes were due...more important I had a place to live...than a computer! I am at the Library right now where they have a public computer....but I WILL be getting a new computer NEXT weekend, which is our Thanksgiving. Not having a computer for about 3 and a half months....I have millions of e-mails to clean up...YIKES!
Hope all is well....and I will be back in a week! Sent you an e-mail about 10 days ago, showing you what was at the end of MY rainbow! LOL!!!! Take care and great big hugs!

So nice to hear from you! We have worried and thought a ton about you and what you might be into...lol...I got that email and almost started a discussion over it..LOL...it does figure. I bet it has been very frustrating to do with out a computer but a place to live is always priority. My taxes are due next month At least part of them.
You are right about a certain artificial taste that store bought dip has. You really don't realize it until you have had a homemade dip. Sounds like you are quite the dip maker....mmmmm....business idea..bling!

I love homemade dips as well. My favorite is spinach dip with tortillas. I could eat that up for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also make a reuben dip in the crockpot that is also one of my favorites. It has corned beef, swiss cheese, cream cheese, 1000 island dressing and a bit of sauerkraut. Even people that hate sauerkraut will eat this dip....plus it is great on a cold day. I usually serve it with cocktail rye bread.
