How long have you known your partner? How long have you two been together?

I've known my fiance since I was 11 years old (7 years), and we started seeing each other in April. We are perfect; we act alike and share the same interests. For months, I've thought he was the one; I still think so. What about you, dear MyLotters? How long have you known your boyfriend or girlfriend, and how long have you been together? Do you have a lot in common with your partner? Do you think you can be with them for the rest of your life?

Elaine- I've known my current partner for ten years, though we've only lived together for four and been married for three. We met years ago online and began our friendship, as well as a year after meeting formed our pagan group. Our relationship was developed through emails, letters, and phone calls. We never actually even saw each other until I flew him down to meet me. I can say we both were a bit apprehensive at the airport unsure if our "avatar" pictures did justice to the real life person and how each of us would respond. He proposed that weekend so that answered those anxieties. I think we have a great deal in common as we have differences. Being friends first really did set the tone for our marriage and has made some things much easier. We know each other inside and out, but that of course means we also know which buttons to push as well. It does mean though that we did not have the initial physical response so our motivations were never guided by simple physical attraction. They were more guided by an intellectual attraction and spiritual attraction. I'm not saying that the prior is not right, it is just for us it seems to have made quite the difference as we were both married once before. I know for certain that I will be with my current partner for the rest of my life. I cannot think of any reason I would not be. He is a friend, a companion, a lover, and a wonderful person. This is similar to my life :) I met my man in an AOL chat room, and our friendship - and relationship - grew via phone calls, texts, email and skype. I met him in July, on my 18th birthday, when I took a bus to Memphis to spend a couple of weeks with him. It was perfect. Leaving him was hard, and here I am now, on mylot, trying to make some extra money so that I can move down there. I feel as though it's a need; I love him more than anything in this world, and I came home to a positive pregnancy test.

Elaine- Thank you for the best response, I appreciate it. I know how difficult that wait can be. The weekend my husband proposed was in May and I still had another month of teaching before I could move. It was worth the extra funds spent though. I'm quite happy with him and our journey. I wish you all the best! Namaste-Anora

You're welcome. My fiance proposed a couple weeks ago, and I really miss him right now. However, if I get enough money to visit him, I plan on finding a job down there. I'd have to stay with his mom until I can get a place on my own, so I'm trying to get some extra money before I decide to go down there, hence my existence on this site, as well as a few other sites. Thanks for wishing for the best, I really need the best right now!

My parents have been married nearly 45 years (I'm 44 lol) and - to be honest, I don't really know how long they knew each other before that..I'll have to ask them! As for me, I hadn't been very lucky with guys in Blackpool and always knew that I'd marry someone from far away. I met John on the internet in 2003 in a chat room and we "spoke" on there and on the telephone for a few weeks before actually meeting up at Easter that year. I commuted at weekends for 18 months, moved to Carlisle permanently in July 2005, engaged in Las Vegas New Year's Eve 2005 and got marred (Las Vegas again) in April 2008. Phew!

Wow, that is really fast and you're really young. I've been with my husband 7 years. We met online when I was 16, chatted for 7 months before we met in person. We got engaged and moved in together when I was 19, married when I was 21. I can see us being together for the foreseeable future.

Congratulations. We took our time to make sure we functioned well together. We didn't do anything impulsively. I'm just not too keen on rushing into serious commitments.

Before we got married, we’ve been steady for 8 years and this coming December will mark our 2 years of marriage. We were actually college mates, turned colleague, workmate, best friend and life partner. I thank God for the day that I have married my bestfriend.

I've met my husband year 2003 and we get married in 2007. We are really different from each other. We have different backgrounds, different attitudes and characters. The only thing we have in common is that we both don't mind reading. :) He hates to clean up while I hate dirty and messy things. He loves to eat while I love to cook. He hates doing the chores while I hate seeing them piling up.Etc. etc. You see, we complimented each other.LOL Despite of the many uncommon grounds we have, we are both learning from each other. He learn to share with the chores and I learn how to spend cash I did not earn.LOL. Yes, I do know him that much that even if he change his identity I'll recognize him. There was a time that he texted me using a different number and name but I knew him so well that when I read the message I have no doubt it was him and he admitted that it was him.:) We both knew each other like the back of our hands , I guess.:)

(blush) We have a lot of things in common, but when it's about food - nothing in common. He like spicy food, I don't. I like sweets, he don't. Totaly diffrent tastes. LOL

My fiance and I have been together since April this year. It's just 6 months but it feels like we've known each other forever. We're not alike. We have very little in common except out love for movies. But our differences are the things that make us grow closer together. We're getting married soon. And I can't wait to spend my life with him.

Well i've known my boyfriend for 8 years and we've been together for 5 years now.. What makes it really nice is the fact that i am his first gf,and he is my 1st bf. We have a lot in common although we have certain differences, and these differences make us who we are and actually bring us more closer. As of now, i'm just happy to be with him and he makes me happy and that i can see my future with him (hopefully).

I've just passed the 5th year and now entering the 6th year of knowing my fiance. I've been as his girlfriend for 2 years, then as a fiance for 3 years, and this 6th year will be the starting year of me being his wife :D We have a lot of similarity but also many differences at the same time. But we are always happy for what we are, and yes I definitely think I can live with him for the rest of my life. He is always my one and only :)
