I just wondering would there be a side effect if you donate your blood regularly? I won't say that is a process of donating blood, because there is also monetary compensation involved. At the place where I work, there is a program to encourage the permanent employees to donate their blood and compensate for $10 per tube. That is a nice program, due to where I work is a medical facility, and we need different type of blood to test for the experiment, and I saw many people sign up for it. But I also worry about if there is any side effect if you donate your blood from time to time. So, what do you think of it?

There are people who do this regularly for some extra money. There can be some side affects but the red cross for instance will only allow you to donate so much per given time period. They do provide some nutrients after the drawing and my understanding is that the blood donated is recuperated pretty quickly.
You can view the red cross rules as to how regularly you can do this, as from what I remember on a cnn report some people do it successfully and quite frequently. Good luck

I think there's actually a limit on how much blood you can donate, but I don't know what it is. The risks would be fatigue, vertigo, low blood pressure, no iron in the blood... etc. So there are definitely risks so be careful with this!

That is what I am worrying about. Although the money compensation is attractive, but I just worry about if that might affect my health too. I don't want that happen, and I just want to be healthy, that is all.

I think once a month or once every two months would probably be safe, but the next time you donate blood, talk to the worker on duty and see what they have to say!

I have never donated blood. First I am phobic of having my blood drawn. Just thinking of it is making my palms sweat and me feel scared. Second problem though is that I dont weigh enough to donate bood anyway. I have heard of people who donate blood plasma and earn a little extra money but they stopped doing it because they would feel so sick for a few days after having it done. The way it worked there was they would make you come back a few days after that to do it again and then pay you the full amount for two times of going. I guess it was so they could test your blood and then take more if it was good. I really dont know it was confusing especially since I wasent there in person.

well, free cookies is a plus :D
But since your body is able to produce more blood, it shouldn't have any big effects. I suppose the most harmful thing that could come out of donating blood is to be injected with an unclean needle (for instance, if the needle has been used on a person with AIDS)But such happenings are unlikely.

Hi King Parker
AS far as I know the limitation is two times in a year for normal health people. Those who have higher rates of regenerating the blood, they can go for more. As for the side effects, it depends on how you plan your recovery of your lost blood.
They prescribe that you took lots of fruits to avoid dizziness and weakness.
I believe that those who donate blood frequently should be careful with the needles that are used and that is the real precaution one should take before donating the blood. After the donation, the doctors can take care of your health if they have drained out more than your body can bear.

If I am not mistaken, my country never allow for selling your own blood.
As long as you are compensated by money, then you are considering selling your blood.
From what I was told, regular blood donation is very good to our health.
Our blood in our body has it's certain lifespan.
It will be reproduce again.
For me, I am very interesting in blood donation.
However, I did once only.
I am really scare to try another time.
ha! ha! ha!
This is due to my personal concern.

I really think that there is a certain limit on how often you have to donate blood. Because when you donate now, your body will need to compensate for the blood you have donated. I really think that you should not donate blood more often. It is better to wait for a couple of months before you can donate blood again. Let your body compensate for the loss first. I guess you should consult the doctor or any healthcare staff who knows about your concern. Thats really a good thing that you donate your blood to help out.

Well, I think that there is a side effect to donate a blood regularly. Sometimes I ask myself about donating blood. Why should I donate my blood to blood bank when in times you need a blood you will pay for it or ask someone to donate a blood? Where are your blood donation goes? Sometimes I think that this certain institution has some purpose, a hidden purpose. I don't know but I surely doubt it.

No, there's no side effect. I went 2 years donating a pint every 3 months (there's a mandatory waiting period between donations) and never had a bad effect. You just have to give your body time to replenish the blood supply and remember to drink lots of fluids, particularly in the day or so after you donate. You can have issues if you donate too frequently, but that's just because you're taking too much too fast. You have to space out blood donations so your body will recover. Other than that, as long as you don't have any religious or personal issues with the idea of giving blood, might as well sign up.

I think it is depend on a person who wants to donate their blood. Because sometimes it side effects for those persons who are very thin and don’t have quantity of blood very much. I think it is a very good thing that if any person donates their blood mostly times but it is also depend on their health. If a person are very healthy then he/she donate their blood every months because blood very early increases in a healthy person’s body.

I do not think so, blood donation does not have any side effects if doner is taking proper diet after blood donation. I have donated 2-3 times (not in blood bank) to friends and relatives and did not see any problem. We should donate blood without any fear

There is no side effect... As loong as you are healthy and not anemic. Donating every 3 to 6 months is healthy for us, us old blood will be replenished by new ones. And besides, it's also a way to check or screen ourselves from diseases, since before we are allowe dto donate we have to undergo series of blood exams before we are labeled as a donor.
