Shayla Hamm and her boyfriend duct - taped her 22 month old son to the wall. They took pictures of it and showed them to their friends via online. Apparently, the authorities got a hold of these pics and now her kid is taken away from her AGAIN based on possible injury to a child. Her boyfriend received up to 36 months in jail for the same crime.
My question(s) are: Is this funny or just plain stupid on their part? The other side may ask, what's the big deal, it was all in fun and the child wasn't hurt...
Tell me what you think. The police reported later that both Shayla and her boyfriend were high at the time they did it, and some of the pictures showed that the little boy was crying when he was taped to the wall.
I wanna here your take on this stuff!

It is definitely not funny. And the fact that these boyfriend and girlfriend were high while doing it to their son is making even not worse. I would never use my kid to have fun then have a laugh with my friends about it. They could have used a toy instead of their kid!!!
Good that the police got them, they deserves to be taught how to be a responsible and sober parents. Oh well, some people are just plainly idiot.

A toy would not have cried and gotten mad, so it would not have been fun for the dopers. I would like to tape them up to the walls indefinitely and see how it feels. The little boy had absolutely no way of understanding what was happening. There were other things that were done with the child and duct tape in the name of humor.

absolutely sadistic and sickening. for a child to go through that thing is traumatizing. i can't imagine a parent would do such a thing to her own child. good thing the boy was taken away from her. i shudder to think what they'll do to him next if he stayed. she and her bf are sick in the head.

It wasn't funny and they are not stupid, THEY ARE OUT OF THEIR MINDS!
I am a parent and I will never put my child to that situation even if it was just for fun.I have taken care of my kids painstakingly and I have not allowed anyone hurt them. I will not tolerate having fun at the expense of any of them, no way!
That child can already feel danger and fear. He was crying because he felt there was something wrong about what his parents were doing. He was scared for himself. And he could be feeling uncomfortable.
Parents like that should be teach a lesson...Tsk... tsk... Poor child...

I think it was more of stupid and less of funny. If I were high, I would have thought of it as funny, well, because I am high. But then I am not, so I would have to say otherwise. Maybe the baby should not be returned to the mother and the guy since they seem to be doing stupid things to their child. It would probably be best if the child was taken away for good, for the child's sake.

what a horrible thing to do to a 22 month old.
think of the trauma that child went thru, with the parents probably not paying attention to him.
i have a 2-1/2 yr old grand son. he would freak, what kind of loving parent would do that.
that is terrible. child abuse i call it.

hi,
that is so Stupid! and that was never fun. Doesn't matter if the child were hurt or not, are they going to wait for the child to be hurt before they stop? and if the police were saying that the couple were high during that time then they're really stupid! I don't think the child should received such kind of treatment even if they think its just for fun... the question is who's fun are they risking at???

I can't see the humor in duct taping your child. it might seem funny to an outsider, but what about the child? it would seem to be humilitating. Spreading pictures of this online is adding insult to injury. Take your child's feelings into consideration before attempting such a task. It may not seem funny after all.

This is just plain stupid. I don't think it was fun at all. It was very dangerous for them to do that. And just by what they did, they could still do a lot of things that are way more harmful to the child. And as you said, it even showed that the boy was crying, he was really scared and a child never has to be in an environment like that. It's not at all healthy for growing up.

This is horrible. One should not make fun at the expense of another human being, much less a 22 month old innocent child. It is repulsive, dangerous, and cruel. And how can they stand having fun with the tot crying? It's sadistic.

I've read this news like a week ago, and what happened was really sad and hate trigerring. It may not be hurtful for the child physically as it was mild duct tape (it's the green one if I remember correctly) but toying a kid like that is just not appropriate. The boy cried, he's hurt because he wants them to stop doing it. Let's remember that these kids are humans, meant to be taken care of, not toys whereas you experiment crazy things with them. Being high is not even a reasonable excuse, why would someone be high in the first place? And note that Shayla and her boyfriend are not even on their twenties, but they're old enough to realise that they've done wrong.
