We all know that instant food has less nutritions and might actually contain many preservatives and artificial flavoring. Anyway, many of us still cannot resists instant food especially when we are too busy to go out and eat. Is there anybody that can avoid instant food totally? I personally tried to avoid it and has successfully avoiding it for quite a long time, until recently my wife had to stay back at office quite frequently and i have started to take instant noodle again...

I am also in this battle against consuming instant foods and also fast foods. Right now I cannot do anything about it because I don't have a job yet and have to stay with my aunts. In the future I would love to be eating just organic foods. Fruits and vegetables only, and occasionally seafood and meat. We should really win and totally avoid instant foods and fast foods for our own good in the future. We don't want illnesses to surface when we are old and find out that it is because of our bad choice of foods to eat when we are younger.

You are right, sometimes we have limitations of what we can and cannot do. Anyway, when we are able to find alternatives than to take instant food, then go for it instead of feeling lazy and proceed with taking instant food. Instant food might taste tastier than organic food and we are tempted to take them, but avoidance on them is best for our body in the long run.
All the best!

It's only common sense that Instant (prepared) foods are not as nutritious! I worked in a large factory that produced Instant Rice. I watched the wholesome uncooked rice go into the boiler, get cooked and rinsed in scalding water after which, the water, white with nutrients, went down the drain. You can't have it both ways, its either a healthy home cooked meal,or save a few minutes and eat a compromised meal out of a box.

Hi there Asxenon,
It is indeed difficult to avoid instant food. As these foods are the easiest one to prepare when you are too busy and pre-occupied. Although we know for a fact that they are quite hazardous to our health due to the preservatives that being mix during the preparation.
Nevertheless, inspite of too many campaigns that being promoted against instant foods, people do buy them again and again. Since they knew that this is the easiest way to relieve the hunger.

Sometimes, i wonder whether we eat instant food purely because of hunger or are we already addicted to it? Some instant food seems so tempting to eat that we would rather eat instant food instead of other healthy food available. I am not sure about you but for me, sometimes i do thought of eating instant food for its taste rather than because of hunger. Hopefully i can get rid of the desire :p

I'm afraid not. It's fast and cheap as well as convenient to get. Even with rising of food prices, instant food always maintain their standard of being the cheapest. Furthermore, they are constantly improving on the flavors of their food to make it taste as close as the real thing. With such innovation and initiative from them, how are we going to resist the temptation when it's addictive right after the first pack we eat. Instant food is a booming business now due to the fast pace of life, everything has to be done fast, so instant food is our saviour when it comes to crunch moments.
So long it keeps us full, why bother about it being healthy or unhealthy? Does those outside food we eat make it any healthier? I don't think so right?

In some way, you might be right that outside food too contains preservatives and additives. Unless we cook our own food or eat bread/cereal/biscuit/fruits, we won't be eating healthy anyway. However, instant food contains much more preservatives and additives than outside cooked food. It is understandable that once in a while it would be much easier to eat instant food than to cook yourself, however, if possible try to minimize the intake of these food as it will slowly affect our health.
Good day and enjoy your life!

It is possible but not that easy.
I grew up in a farm of country where the instant food are not popular. I almost never has instant food at all until I moved to the city for education. I found out that it is really convenience at the beginning to have the instant food, but my mind reminded me all the time that this is not a healthy food. Now I moved a broad, I felt like it is normal for people here to have instant or preservative food. As you can see what people buy everyday. For me, I try to cook food myself as much as I can but some time it is really hard to do it. But I still believe that fresh prepare food is the best.

Last year i have been eating instant food at least twice a week. This year, i made it a point that i should never eat it again or at least try to avoid it. Unfortunately i can't seem to avoid instant food, especially instant noodles. I can's seem to avoid eating it especially when im so in a hurry to go to work that i always don't have time to cook so i end up buying instant noodles in the store near our office. I think we can never avoid instant for because nowadays we are in a very fast pace of our life and we don't want to waste our precious time to the point of not finding time to cook or even go to a food chain to eat.

I do agree bout that. We really lack the time to prepare proper food most of the time. Everything is in a hurry and we do need something instant :p Even procedures for everything is changing to become most fast paced. No way we can avoid instant food, only hope is to increase the nutrient of instant food and lower its artificial flavoring :p

The instance foods are not good for health. But we can't avoid them nowadays. I usually cook at home. But I sometimes eat instance noodle or cake because I'm very busy. I can't do other anythings.

When its my work day(Mondays through Fridays)I cannot avoid but use instant or canned foods. To compensate for vitamins and minerals I take them. I also advise my daughter to do the same. I notice that I got less heart palpitations when I eat natural foods as opposed to the processed foods.

Do try to avoid instant or canned food as much as possible, especially for young children. Too much intake of artificial flavoring and chemical would mean more work to our liver and children's liver is even easier to lose its function if not taken care properly.
All the best to you and do decrease intake of instant food, maybe replace it with wheat bread/cereal or biscuits.

The answer for that is to make sandwiches, and prefer the whole grain bread they are healthier than white bread. Or you can make pasta for dinner or lunch. Easy to make. Or you can just eat fruits. Have oatmeal for breakfast. Salad for lunch then pasta or sandwich for dinner.

Thanks for the advice. But can sandwich last until evening if i brought it to office during early morning? I hate it, but have to come home quite late as have to wait for my wife to finish her job before fetching her from office. Maybe can have instant oatmeal first while waiting. Thanks

I cannot totally avoid instant food. When you are working and you are going to b late already, all you can take later to eat are instant food like noodles. But with all the preservatives, sodium and everything that goes with it is not good for the health. Maybe we can eat instant food once in a while. I usually prefer bread, im scared of the bad effect of eating instant food most of the time.
