I am person that hates intrigue, I prefer to stay inside my house and just bond with my computer rather than talking to my neighbors who seems to be having more fun if they pry on other people's affairs.
In times when i was put in a situation where im obliged to be sociable, I give it my best to be a nice person to everybody. But, when somebody is trying to outsmart me and is being very blunt about it, i feel like I'm disrespected and that's enough signal that i can take for me to eject myself from the said crowd.
In short, i try to respect other people's opinion, though those opinion may be contracdictory to mine. I just keep my own opinion to myself,
Now, if somebody tells it straight to my face that I'm wrong, and worst when it's done in front of other people...omg the dragon in me just starts to waken up and ready for fire power.

nags, nosy and noisy people. arrogant and controlling people, and those who think they're better than the rest. they simply tick me off. either i stay at home or just talk to more sensible people about more important things. not about other people's lives.

Haha! That is what I just told my daughter last night. She was telling me about two neighbors who got into a word tussle for a very inconsequential thing.
I am basically like you. I stay at home and stay out of trouble. I don't gossip and I don't entertain gossips. So whenever I see that a group i am in is beginning to talk about someone, I leave. That is why my colleauges see me an "unconcerned." It's okay.
Carry on!
