I saw this when I was surfing the net and I saw this article by Leslie Godwin, MFCC which describes me perfectly. And I am sharing this for those who feel the same way..
"...Some excellent reasons we don't get focused or stay focused on what is important to us. Some of these are:
1) We have lots of interest
2) We don't like to say no to projects or favors
3) We are easily distracted
4) We haven't thought through what we want to focus on
5) We are so busy that we stay on the surface of life, just trying to get through the day.
That's me mylotters. I have lots of interest and I simply can't say no to friends in my workplace wanting favors so I get distracted jumping from one favor to the other and as a result of which, I can't focus on what I want since I cater to what others want first. And all of these make me so busy that I just get through the day trying to finish all these favors so I can get to what I want. Never could, tough. So I always get this feeling of floating on the surface.
Just sharing. If you want to read further, the tips are found in this site: www.businessknowhow.com/growth/focus.htm

you dont have to pretend.. you have the right to refuse and say no.. if you do that and get used to it for sure you will be in focus!

Hi jimboii. I agree with you that saying no helps. Wish I could do that. Trying! Thanks for your response.

hi figurativeme I was just thinking I was always trying to please friends and coworkers, husband and son and so many times something fell by the wayside. So I decided for a while at work to concentrat on pleasing myself and getting my work done the way i was told to do it and the way i Learned to do it.A few peopoe had their noses bent out of shape but most understood where I was coming from and my employer was really please and for a working person thats most important.then at home my husband always told me you can please some of the people like me all the time but you cannot please all the people all the time. it just does not work that way. and it did not.

The article seems to be highly inspiring for many who get easily distracted from their goal and get lost somewhere and in something unrelated to their original goal. It is the mindset of a person who makes choices of things,in consideration of his or goal.We need to ignore many irrelevant things that have very little bearing with the goal we set for ourselves. It does not mean that we need to remain away from the immediate environment that impacts us every moment.Walking through all disturbing and distracting forces, staying fully pinpointed and focused on one's dream and vision,is the key to achieve success. It is possible if one remain cautious from getting swayed away by negative forces and emotions. With positive mental attitude, one can make right choice,in every step. Thanks.

i find it funny, because most of the things on the list happens to me as well. although i still try be more focused, either by keeping a routine that will work with me (although routines do bore me, they can make me a little bit efficient, so i work on some) or just work harder and stick to my goals. i'm more focused on what i want to achieve on a daily basis, i guess lol.

Lucky you Zapatee! When I can't get focused and I am at home, I watch a home movie. So...there goes my time! Though I try and never give up.
Thanks for your response.

Yes I was the same way few year ago, but I have started thinking about my own self, I don’t take extra work unless and until I finish my own. After that I will take extra only if I can complete it. I help other but the work responsibility will be their. I have lot of interest but I make sure I do when ever I am free. Like dancing. I have learn to enjoy my work as well as my life with family. I am still learning to control my anger.

The 5 points you highlight from the article fit me, too--I find that I have so many things I want to do, need to do, or are asked to do by others, that I never seem to catch my breath long enough to focus on any long-term goals. Plus, everything always seems to take longer than I expected, so I always end up putting my own goals aside to complete either mundane tasks or to help others. Maybe it is a time management issue, or maybe it is a fear of failure, or at least the unknown--suppose you put aside everyone's else needs, your responsibilities, and all of that, and when you reach your goal you find out it wasn't what you wanted after all? I think that would be tougher than never reaching your goals, but having built-in excuses as to why you never got there.
