Despite the fact that we already had computers and cellphone to our convenience, some of us still love to scribble notes for diary, calendar of events, reminders and those sort of things. I keep a small notebook myself where I write my important appointment and reminders or simply write anything that I want to write on it.
How bout you, do you still keep notebooks with you ? What is it for ? Care to share ?

Yeah, the same, keep it handy, and you retain more of the things you write then the things you type.
Besides, I don't currently use a cellphone, so that isn't handy at all.

Surely, with the long list of friends who responded the same proves that some things never changed like owning a notebook.

i used to bring a notebook with me and write down important appointments or things i need to do. it was very helpful. but now, i don't keep a notebook any more. instead, i use cellphone as a reminder. there is a notebook on my cellphone and it works perfectly. i can write down whatever important on it and check it out later. it's more convenient and fast.

Your one of the few here who mentions using the cellphone as more convenience for you, I do that at times but my cellphone has its limitations I guess I need to buy a new one. Thanks for the comment.

Haha, I did that once as well, having a note is really convenient even taking down the important things of traveling, if the place has a different language I also used it taking down what a word also means. The notebook comes very handy and helpful

I buy about 10 full sized notebooks a year. I like to buy them when they are on sale when the kids go back to school since they are really cheap at that time. I use them for alot of things, I write things down I don't want to forget..believe me I forget way to much lately..I use them to make several types of list, what I need, what I need to get done, where I need to go..I use it even to doodle in when bored...but I always have one by my side. Never know when I good idea might pop up and you need to get it down fast before you forget it..

I am also very forgetful at times like you, this is the ultimate reason why I keep a notebook myself. It is much more convenient having a paper or notebook to grab when something needs to be written right there. Thanks for the thoughts !

Oh absolutely I do....I have several notebooks actually..some are for doodles, some are personal journals (daily and spiritual), some are for my random writing ideas and the list goes on...I still handwrite on my calenders, I still handwrite cards and letters etc...I think its a shame that so many dont these days to be honest with you. Society IMO has become TO reliant on the digital and electronic gagets etc..Instead of writing a letter by hand, ppl send emails..instead of sending a handwritten thank you note or holiday card its all done online with ecards..I personally LOVE to handwrite and doodle..LOL do it all the time..jotting down notes, thoughts, lists etc..

I also find writing to be still the best method, where a personalized touch is on it.

Yes, I keep a notebook with me in my bag at all times. Before, this notebook was used to writes notes from my class but then I didn't get to use more than half of the pages. So now, I use it for just about anything. I write title of songs that I like. I also write important reminders. I write some of the prices of basic ingredients that I need and other stuff. It's very useful that I can just write stuff whenever I want to.

Yes, despite having a laptop, it's still feel great to just scribble ideas and thoughts on my notebook. I have a journal to write my thoughts and what I have been through. I have yet another book to write down my thoughts for my son since he was a baby. Am hoping to hand it to him when he is older. Sometimes I simply like to sketch and play own word games in the notebooks.

Yes, I still use notebooks, and I find it interesting that the ten people who answered this discussion before me said the same thing. Guess the netbooks / blueberries / iPhones and all the rest of the gadgets in our life haven't replaced the old habits completely yet :)
I use my notebook to scribble down article ideas or titles that come to my mind, usually when I read - because I read in bed or in the bathtub, and I can't take my computer there with me. I have an awful handwriting, it's always been bad, so in many cases I can't understand what I've written... which is actually pretty neat, because I have 20 words to summarize a new article idea, I can't understand 2 of them, so, while trying to figure out what I've written, I come up with more ideas or angles for my articles.

Well, this thread proves that we all still make use and put importance of taking down notes through a notebook or notepad. Glad you have your notes with you as well.

When I need to take a quick note, a notebook is still the better way to go, for me. Since my handwriting is really bad, I just take notes by hands when I'm not at home; then I revise and expand them on the compter, when I got home.
Handwriting and notebooks, for me, are the way to note something... quick and rough stuff, I can them work on.

I am proud to say that yes, I do.
I love collecting pens and notebooks. Pens and notepads with unique design is usually attracting in my eyes so I purchase them and keep them in my pen holder on my table.
Call me barbaric but I am more comfortable in keeping my diary private than writing my memorable events in a blog. I love reminiscing and I want to do this without turning on my laptop and accessing the internet. I also would love to compare my handwriting before and to my hadwriting now.
I also love to write about anything: from my diary entries to things I need to do and the things I need to buy.

Good for you :) Yes, it is important to keep a little private of some things that you want to keep on your own and keeping a diary of yourself is one way of doing that. Nice idea ! Thumbs up for you.

Yes i'm still keeping notebook and notepad because when you put your special document in computer i think now a days many are willing to destroy or delete your file especially if they're are IT students.

I use a planner to keep track of important dates. I also keep a notebook close at hand most of the time to jot down notes and thoughts. I have also found that POST-IT notes are a good way to remind myself of things, and I also use email reminders as well. I think my next things is going to be to buy one of those digital voice recorders that I can keep with me to record things. This would be especially helpful if I had a thought or idea while I was driving. I could just press the RECORD button and speak into the recorder. I used to have a cell phone that had a digital voice recorder on it, and I used to use it sometimes when I wasn't able to write things down, so I am sure I would use a recorder again if I had it. Unfortunately, I had to get a new cell phone, and the phone I have now does not have one on it. I also keep a journal on my laptop as well...

I have a journal I keep with me incase I am waiting for one of my kids somewhere and have nothing to do. I also keep a notepad in my purse incase I have an idea or see a site I want to check out when I get back home. I always have paper with me of one type or another. And I usually have a notepad up when online just incase something of interest comes on tv or is mentioned on a site I happen to be on.

Hi torchablazed, I still keep a notebook in spite of having access to so many technological gizmos. Actually I suffered a great loss once for discontinuing its use.
Once my phone went bad and I lost all my contact details. Some of them I could recover but I could not the one of my friend who contacted my after long ten years. He must have tried a lot to get my details and has enough reason to keep silent when I did not respond which I could not due to that loss. I still repent it. If I had kept a backup in my good old notebook I could have maintained that relation.
So I now keep a backup of contacts in my notebooks. I also use it to scribe those little things that I want to keep for my own eyes only. And hope to maintain it as there can't be any substitute.

Yes I still do keep a notebook within reach. During meetings or workshops or seminars, I still find it easier to take notes using a notebook. I feel that writing it down still is an effective way for me when I need to jot down important points in the discussion. Besides, I do not lug around my laptop all the time especially when my purpose is to just go malling. Having a notebook or a paper is handier.

Indeed keeping a notebook is handier and more convenient which you can practically carry with you. I do also jot notes on seminars and the like, thanks for sharing !
