Tomorrow we'll celebrate the feast of St. Ursula, our Patron Saint. I love this celebration because there are parades and they are clad in colorful clothes while they dance on the streets. Different schools also participates in this celebration and they all have their unique costume. We celebrate it just like the feast of St. John where people usually get wet with people throwing water at each other every where.

Our patron St. is St. John de Baptist too so we have similar ways of celebrating it. I really enjoy our fiesta 'cause people just really love to get wet, although there are just some who are pissed :D.

Our festival celebration is more or less like your, in a way that parades are being held and we have street dancing with beautiful colorful costumes and body painting as well. We call our festival the Sinulog festival. It's the feast of Sr. Stanto NiƱo.

I've seen that many times featured on TV, our fiesta is not that festive, I mean we don't spend so much money for the costumes and preparations, and no foreigners are coming to watch it, hehehe. Thanks for the response!

we also have such simliar festivals in our country, you throw water with a basin at each other, which is called "water-throw festival". People wear colorful costumes, dancing, laughing and throw water at each to fully enjoy the time. The more water was thrown at you, the more lucky you will be. So try to throw more water at others and you'll get more! waazula.com

the same principle applies, more water means more blessings! We also use basin or dipper and some even use water hose! Thanks for the comment!

I like the festivities here in our city. Just like everywhere else in our country, they do have similar activities such as street dance, beauty contests, agri fair, song competition, fireworks and colorful sailboat competitions. I guess I missed mentioning other competitions as my involvement with these events is just of a spectator on tv. Oh! to include, the floral parade and the church procession. My favorite part though is the feasting celebration...where most families set special dishes on the table and invite friends and guests. On my part though, we don't prepare food for any guests, I just open our window and smell the nice-smelling dishes which our neighbors cooked and simultaneously eat our cooked rice in a haste. Kidding aside, my family celebrates the day by having lunch at my parents' place. It's also a way of bonding with our oldies. :)
